C Trent Fraley Real Leadership on the Football Field
Aug 25, 2026
At the end of the day, everybody can be a leader.
It can be a freshman who just got here in the summer.
It can be Kenya who's been here.
It could be Jordan who's been here for a long time too.
Just anybody trying to make people go on the right path is really what we're
looking for in a leader.
So yeah, we have a C on our chest, but at the end of the day,
I mean, it's nice to have, it's cool.
But at the end of the day, everybody on this team is a leader.
Have you ever been on a team with six captains?
I'm trying to think, we might have had five at NDSU.
But I mean, it's great having six right now.
We have Reese, specialists being captains, defensive players,
offensive line, it's kind of all spread out.
So I think it's really good and it'll bring the team together.
What does it say to you to have gotten that kind of respect,
having never been in Spartan Stadium before?
Yeah, I mean, it's just awesome.
I'm glad that they respect me right now and
that they put their trust in me to be a captain and to lead the team the right way.
What did you do to earn that respect?
I think just coming in every day and just working.
I might not be the most vocal all the time, but
I do pride myself in the way I work and just having a great work ethic.
Can you tell me the growth of your offensive line?
I mean, you got a lot of new guys, obviously you guys are here in spring, but
over the course of camp, how's that going?
Yeah, I mean, it's night and day.
I know if you guys were here in the spring, it's a lot of good talent that we're
playing next to each other, but now it's a lot of good talent playing with each other.
We all have a lot of experience.
And the way that we bonded over those months and
now I'm taking it out on the football field, you can just see the difference.
As a center, how much of that do you put on yourself in terms of creating that
cohesion?
Yeah, I mean, a decent amount, you're kind of like buddy together.
But at the end of the day, I think everybody on the offensive line is
really matured, we can all get along like we hang out all the time now.
Like in the spring, we were hanging out just trying to get to know each other and
now we do know each other and just hang out all the time and
just are spending a lot of time together and that definitely helps on the field.
