Another beautiful afternoon.
What a day for school day or
kids day or whatever you want to
call it here with the ballpark.
We are told of the forty one
thousand people here today.
Twenty four thousand of them are
various school groups from
around the GTA.
It's going to be quite a vibe
here especially if Kevin
Gossman is on top of his game as
the Blue Jays look to win a
series.
Gossman in eleven starts this
season now three and three that
era just over three.
Christian Yelich is in the box
liner to left to base hit.
Got to that ninety five mile an
hour fastball did Yelich.
So the leadoff man is aboard
Yelich twelve for twelve in
stealing bases this year.
Gossman at times has been
susceptible not going here and
a swing and a miss.
He got him for the first out of
the afternoon.
So one out.
And now here's Rowdy Tullis.
He's taken off.
Here's the throw the tag and
they got him.
He got some help and he came out
of there very quickly.
Quick exchange and more
importantly than anything the
accurate throw.
Boy I mean that throw had to be
right there or they wouldn't
have gotten him first time that
Yelich has been cut.
Got it.
Swing and a miss to get Tullis
to a couple of strikeouts and a
nice throw by Heineman as well.
A good time of the first for
Kevin Gossman starting pitcher
stats for Freddy Peralta.
He's been good.
Ten starts six quality start
still waiting to get that big
game wasting no time right here
pitching a contact ground ball
to short one pitch one out.
I think if you're Freddy Peralta
you will take that every day.
And here is Bo Bichette and the
Brewers have held Bo in check
which not very many teams have
been able to do this year.
Bo is one for nine in the
series.
Here to center.
It's well on the season for Bo
Bichette and it is one and
nothing Blue Jays.
You can only hold him down so
long and you just said it Dan
Milwaukee's done a nice job with
Bo in this series but he is just
that good.
Now a five game hitting streak
for Varshon and there's one on
one and two away for Matt
Chapman.
Down the right Anderson in his
opposite field to run homer for
Matt Chapman.
And talking to Chapman just this
morning about this topic he
said yeah I just got to flatten
it out at the top of the zone a
little bit more if they're going
to be pitching it up there and
it's in the zone.
I need to be better.
I need to make that adjustment.
And I think he just looked
inside and draws the walk.
That's the first walk issued by
the Brewers pitching staff since
the eighth inning of game number
one.
He's Kevin Kiermaier foul tipped
into the glove of Contreras on
the curveball Peralta picks up a
strikeout Blue Jays get three
William Contreras Brian Anderson
and Andrew Monasterio coming to
the plate tipped off into the
glove and held by Heineman third
strikeout for Gaussman this
afternoon.
Ninety eight and a swing and a
foul tip to strikeout Anderson.
That is four strikeouts in a row
for Gaussman fly ball right
center Kiermaier along just when
you think you've seen it all
Kevin Kiermaier shows you
something else.
Again we have a pretty good
vantage point from here and I
did not think Kiermaier is
getting to this one but wouldn't
you know it.
Another spectacular Graham Tyler
Heineman leads off the bottom of
the second.
There's a fair ball off the bat
of Tyler and he's thinking two
and it's overrun by Anderson and
it's Tyler Heineman's world
right now.
We're just living in and there's
two outs.
Here's Vlad Guerrero Junior
Guerrero out towards left center
Joey Weimer shielding his eyes
makes the catch and the inning
is over.
Freddy Peralta does a nice job
navigating around the leadoff
double.
Roddy Tellez leading off the
fourth but lay off this one and
that strikeout number seven for
Kevin Gaussman to close pitches
to Contreras.
Now he has to be almost in swing
mode.
So Kevin's got him right where he
wants him.
See if he goes to the splitter
even though it's three and two.
He did.
They appeal and he went to use
that bad again.
Kevin Gaussman has struck out
two in each of the first four
innings of this game.
So he cracked the bat on the
ground and then he finished it
off over his head.
Here's Brian Anderson who lines
the first pitch that he sees in
the center field for a two out
base hit.
Here Meyer at this one much more
routine.
Brewers are set down at the top
of the four.
There's Tyrone Taylor shallow
right center field and Kiermaier
has got another one.
Boy that must be fun.
It must be fun to be able to do
things like that.
It's like being a kid in the
schoolyard again.
That's easy for him.
That's nothing coming in and
sliding.
That's a can of corn for Kiermaier
routine liner in the left center
Owen Miller puts another good
swing on the ball rowdy a couple
of strikeouts today and a
fastball down in the zone
freezes him.
Strikeout number nine for
Gaussman William Contreras
obviously with a new bat and he
got him strikes out Contreras
for the third time today.
Ten strikeouts on the afternoon
now for Kevin Gaussman.
And that's the fifth time he's
done that this year.
Joe that's tops of the majors
runner goes and a stolen base
for Owen Miller.
And a swing and a miss and a
little pump with a fist from his
catcher as well as Gaussman
picks up strikeout number 11.
Peralta has been great after
that rocky first inning.
He's been outstanding for the
Brewers.
Ground ball to first Tillis has
it steps on the bag and Freddy
Peralta does a nice job quality
start for Freddy as we go to the
seven three nothing Toronto and
back out for the seven six seven
and eight Monasterio to Rangin
and Taylor Swanson up in the
pen.
I guess the only question is how
many pitches will John Schneider
let him throw today's up to
one hundred and seven and number
one oh eight is lined in the
center for a base hit.
Once Gaussman throws his one
hundred and fifteen pitch the
two highest pitch totals by any
pitcher in baseball this year
will be Kevin Gaussman down to
first Bisho.
There's one Bichette.
Nice play at the first base bag
by Kevin Bichot you see that
he's ready right there scoops it
up.
Don't look at the runner he
stopped get the ball to second
base get that lead runner and he
has taken the ball from Kevin
Gaussman.
So just a masterful performance
by Gaussman today and a well
deserved standing ovation from
this sellout crowd here for the
Rogers Center this afternoon.
Bottom of the eighth inning
three nothing Blue Jays right
hander Elvis Piguero is into the
game for the Brewers Vladimir
Guerrero Junior shoots one into
right field for a base hit.
It has to feel good for Vlade
before they head out of town
here.
Don't Varshall one out of three
the single in the first should
be double play ball.
There's one and two Taylor made
well two pitches a single and a
double play ball.
One thing that Vlade will do
more of when he's D.H.
because he's got more time to
kill.
He'll play to the camera just a
little bit.
Bases loaded two down Kevin
Kiermaier the batter Kiermaier
strikes out as the Blue Jays
leave the bases loaded.
So it is on to the ninth inning
the Blue Jays with a three to
nothing lead a same situation
upcoming for Jordan Romano as he
makes his way onto the field.
Rowdy has had a tough day at the
plate for three three strikeouts
Cracksman into right center
field Springer is on the move
Kiermaier to and it will be
dropped by Kiermaier.
It's still on the warning track
to Lez around second.
He's headed for third and he
will be standing there with a
leadoff triple some
indecisiveness there from Kevin
Kiermaier as Springer was on the
move trying to make the play
rowdy to Lez with a leadoff
triple against Romano and just
like that the tying run is
coming up.
So a triple a free pass and now
it's Brian Anderson and Anderson
grounds one toward short.
They get one they get to.
Tell us comes down the line to
score to make it a three one
ballgame.
So two down in the bases empty
runs from Bichette and Chapman a
great outing from Kevin Gossman
and the Blue Jays head to New
York on a winning note.
