BREAKING: Chiefs make MULTIPLE moves... This is wild | Kansas City Chiefs News

Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe Kansas City Chiefs are making significant roster adjustments and managing key injuries ahead of their game against the Seattle Seahawks. The team has promoted Andrew Armstrong to the active roster and brought back Nate Carter to the practice squad, while facing critical absences on the offensive line and at wide receiver.
Some huge breaking news to go over
as the Kansas City Chiefs have just made multiple moves and
ahead of a huge game on Sunday.
These moves have huge implications going forward. We're going to
break that down as well
as break down some very interesting injury updates, including one that
has fans quite concerned.
So on Thursday, the Chiefs put left tackle Josh Simmons on injured
reserve, which opened up two spots on the 53-man roster.
And just moments ago, they just filled
one of those spots as they have made a move
to put Andrew Armstrong off of the practice squad
and to sign him to the active roster.
Armstrong is 25, he's from Dallas, and he stands at 6'4".
And at Texas A&M in 2022,
he had over 1,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. And then
he transferred to Arkansas.
In 2024, he led the entire SEC with 78 catches and 1,140 receiving
yards, but he still went undrafted. Then Miami cut him.
Detroit had him for one week, then let
him go, and Kansas City signed him back in January,
cut him in August, and then put him
on the practice squad the very next day.
Then last Sunday against the Chargers,
with Rasheed Rice out, they called him up
for his first NFL game, and he didn't just play,
but he started. 42 of the Chiefs' 61 offensive snaps,
he played in, with for one catch,
13 yards, and a tackle on kick coverage.
But also, and I think an underrated part of his game
last week, was his run blocking,
and with Kenneth Walker being as good as he is and being as
dominant as he is, carrying it 21 times a game.
That's a very underrated power. And he already
spoke about it and said, I thought he was that kid
that was right on the border and that he had
high expectations for. Undrafted, cut in Miami,
cut in August, the practice squad now to a start,
all the way to a spot on the 53-man roster.
That's how you climb and shout out to Armstrong
for the success. And one other piece
of information to note here, keep in mind a
practice squad player can only be called up three times per season
and any team can sign anyone off
of another team's practice squad at any time
but now that he's on the 53 man roster he's the chiefs
to keep with a very thin wide receiver room i
mean basically you have xavier worthy and travis
kelsey at the at tight end having a healthy receiver
and even just having depth is going
to be super important even if they do go
and decide to get a guy like Tyreek Hill or somebody
bigger with rice out and thornton
on injured reserve armstrong could be a starter again on
sunday night and that's
also why a lot of these conversations haven't went away surrounding
acquiring another wide receiver
because right now they're basically just doing you know patchwork
and uh and fixing the immediate problem
but not the bigger long-term issue aside from maybe the
more surprising move and that was the chiefs
cutting running back nate carter back on tuesday
to make room for linebacker aiden fisher
so i obviously had a video on the channel where they
cut Nate Carter, more importantly you know they
obviously signed Fisher, but today they brought
Nate Carter back. So he was only a free agent for three days.
And the reason that they were able to
do that, of course, was Armstrong's promotion.
Armstrong's promotion opened a practice squad
spot. Carter took it right back.
So he did some musical chairs with the movement of the players
cutting. But at the end of the day, Nate Carter is back.
And if you're unfamiliar, he actually
led Michigan State with 790 rushing yards in 2023
and got nine carries for 60 yards with Atlanta
last year. Now, why would you bring him back?
Well, because Thursday, Brashard Smith hurt his
hamstring and they ruled him out.
Andy Reid also mentioned that Jaden Ott is likely to be called up
in his place. Now that hasn't happened yet,
but keep in mind that Ott is an undrafted rookie,
but had an insane year in 2023 at Cal where he ran for over 1300 yards,
but then injuries hit
derailed his career. He had 385 yards in 2024, then only 68 in 2025.
And if he does come up
and make a start, that would be his first NFL regular season game.
And boy, would it be a big
one in Seattle in prime time so right now Sunday's running backs
are Kenneth Walker obviously is your
RB1, you have Emma Johnson as the backup
and you'll have Ott as the RB3 but you do have Carter back as
insurance and obviously with the sheer amount
of volume that Kenneth Walker you know runs at
realistically you don't necessarily need many running backs
because Walker's going to take up
90 95 98 of the carries three Chiefs are also out on Sunday night
so let's dive into the big injury
updates we got today. Rasheed Rice, Jalen Moore,
and Burchard Smith, all of them ruled out. Now,
Rice didn't practice once this week.
It's his second straight missed game, and there was some
optimism at the start of the week about
the potential of him playing Sunday. That is ruled
out. We'll see now if he's available the following week.
And Reid spoke out about Rasheed Rice,
but he kept it very short.
He literally just said, quote, Rasheed Rice will be out. Now,
there is some reports flying that he's been doing light work
on the side, and that he could be back
next week in Denver against the Broncos.
And before we got her, of course, Rice had 13 catches,
good for 190 yards and a touchdown in three games.
Arguably, the bigger worry is up front. So Jalen
Moore is still in concussion protocol from the Chargers game.
He didn't practice all week and
he is fully out. Interesting stat here,
Moore's cap at this year is $18 million. He's being
replaced by Joshua, who is only at $1.1 million.
Kind of a crazy discrepancy one injury makes
surrounding how much this O-line is getting paid.
Osudu came from the Giants in August for a 2028
seventh round pick, 33 career games, 10 starts
and Sunday would be his first start as a
Chief and earlier this week Reid said he thought he did
a very good job filling in for Moore on
the left side it's Khalil Benson an undrafted rookie
on the right side it's of course Joshua
that's two backup tackles
and one of the loudest stadiums in football protecting Patrick Mahomes
and that's because of Josh Simmons injury Thursday
the team's head of medicine Rick
Berkholder said that Simmons has a herniated disc
in his lower back rehab not surgery but he did
plateau so he is on injured reserve now he hasn't played
a game since the middle of August and the
earliest he can come back is November 22nd against
the Cardinals now on Friday Andy Reid was asked
about it again and he said backs are complicated we all know
that sometimes time works it might be
a longer time and sometimes you have to have the surgery
and then he said this I hope this isn't
asked to me every week you guys this isn't that big
of a story let's focus on the football team
and the guys playing which is fair enough
but at the same time you can't fault the media it's your
first round left tackle he hasn't played since August
and your two backups are about to walk
into Seattle one of the teams that won I mean
the team that won the Super Bowl last year and you're
asking them to protect Patrick Mahomes it is a huge story
but I'm kind of with Andy on this one
is getting a little bit old Snead uh Jerry Snead
and Cooper McDonald are both questionable with
knee injuries as well. Kelsey was limited.
He's going to be good to go. So that's kind of exciting
at least. One final thing,
arguably the biggest storyline in this game is Kenneth Walker. He goes
back to Seattle and in February,
he was the MVP of Super Bowl 48 for the Seahawks with 135 rushing
yards and two touchdowns in that game.
Then Seattle let him walk without even giving him an
offer. And of course he signed in Kansas City
for three years at over $14 million per year.
And all he's done since is lead the entire NFL with 665 rushing yards,
106 carries, 6 touchdowns, and 4 games over 100 yards in 5 games.
Folks, it is insane what he's done.
Super Bowl MVP, back in the building that let him go.
It's hard to write that storyline any better.
And Mike McDonald, the coach of the Seahawks this week, said,
I love Kenneth. I thoroughly enjoyed him being on our football team.
But he also said they have to find a way to stop him.
Here's the problem for Seattle.
They haven't given up a 100-yard rusher in 35 straight games.
The last time was Mr. James Cook, one of the best in the game,
of course, back in October of 24.
But something has to give.
Walker has four 100-yard games in five games total.
That's four out of five.
But Seattle hasn't allowed one in two years.
Also, Seattle will be short on the offensive side.
Zach Charbonnet, back from a torn ACL, is out.
A full video coming on that tomorrow.
At the end of the day, the Chiefs are 5-0, the Seahawks are 3-3,
and on paper, obviously, it seems like a Chiefs win,
but at the same time, Seattle is very, very good.
They are better than a 3-3 team. Yes, their offense has struggled.
Sam Darnold has been a shell of himself from last year,
but they have the best defense in football, or at least one of them,
and the Chiefs are going to have to come and play.
What do these moves actually mean past Sunday?
For one, there is still an open spot on the 53-man roster.
Simmons opened two and Armstrong took one.
The obvious name is Cooper McDonald.
There is the opportunity for him to return,
but there is also a line of guys waiting to
come back.
Brace could, of course, come back next week in Denver if he practices.
Simmons is out until November 22nd.
And, of course, Thornton is done for most of the season.
With the trade deadline being just
a couple weeks away on November 10th, how Armstrong
performs over the next couple of weeks could have
an impact on what this team in this front office
decides to do. And maybe it's Brett going after Tyreek Hill,
or maybe they have something in
Armstrong. And of course, on the running back side,
if Otts shows something Sunday night,
maybe, just maybe, that impacts some of their decision-making
when it comes to trades.
Folks, how worried are you for Sunday night?
Do you think the Chiefs are going to move to 6-0?
They're down a few names, but so are the Seahawks.
At the end of the day, this team has done nothing
but impressed all year you are running a couple
of backup offensive linemen but let's be honest
here Mahomes is the best quarterback in the game
or at least one of them and he's in a very good
position to go out and lead this team to a win
but again two backup tackles rookie running back
making his debut in the third string spot
and a receiver who was on the practice squad just two
days ago it's going to be crazy
but sound off down below what your thoughts are you guys are
absolute beasts of support thank you guys
for watching we'll see you in the next one
