It's pouring down.
Hello. Welcome back.
That was a well-earned cuppa, I must say.
It started raining a second ago.
I think it's still spitting.
A bit of a shower.
That's the weather we're getting this week.
But I don't think it's enough to cool off what we're doing today.
You've seen it before, but not on this scowl.
I thought we all needed to cheer it up.
Myself included.
So, I know you love a bit of rock cooking.
I thought I'd go OTT with it.
I found online this slate rock I'm going to be cooking on.
I'm not trying to fool you into thinking I found it here.
I mean, I could cook on these rocks.
But for what I'm doing, I think this one's going to work quite well.
Alright, so I'm going to finish this.
I'm going to carve a couple of little tools I need.
Let this fire burn down to coals.
And we should be ready to cook.
This was green not too long ago.
So it'll still be relatively green.
Which is what I want for what I'm doing.
Collected my batten from my other spot here.
Where I am here will probably be my new camp spot in this woodland.
Been looking for somewhere to build.
And there's a nice flat spot behind the camera there.
So, looking forward to that.
Well, that's just about done.
I'll give you until the end of the video.
So guess what it is, because that's when I'm going to need it.
I've got some green wood twigs here.
I'm just going to scrape the bark off.
And some of you who would have seen my Shrove Tuesday video
will know what I'm probably doing here.
Here we go, some flour and baking powder.
A bit of sugar and salt.
A little bit of milk.
And bring back them green twigs.
You may be able to hear the rain is coming down at the moment.
We've got a bit of a canopy over us here.
So hopefully that will help.
This is going to be our pancake batter.
Yep, we're going whole hog today.
I think we'll get this potato cut.
Well, it's just started pouring here.
So I'm just under the tarp here.
It's a good job that I brought it with me.
These showers have been on and off.
I'm hoping this one doesn't last too long.
Also hoping it doesn't put out the fire.
It's looking quite strong though, the coals.
So I want to get cooking.
Here's the rock version 2.0.
Should do us.
I'm going to put a little oil on here.
Sausages on the go.
Over here I'm going to put a few potatoes.
Going to make a little room here.
Set down a mushroom.
It's getting quite wet out here.
Anyone remember these?
Well, we've just had a catastrophic foul with the big piece of slate.
So things are a bit wonky now.
You can see the cut here.
But today's the day of disasters and we're going to persevere.
And here comes the rain on cue.
Doesn't want me to do this today.
Well, I am first going on with these eggs.
It's still not too bad when it comes to flatness.
A little bit of leakage down there.
Maybe I can shim that just a little bit.
As I move our sausages over,
I feel that right here will be our pancake.
I tell you what, maybe we could go for two.
Might be able to put one more there.
Too big.
Going to season things up a little here, like the eggs and that.
Especially them potatoes.
That just needs another minute.
Bacon is all pretty crispy and good.
Not looking bad considering all the things that have gone wrong.
OK, I think it's time to blip.
Not bad.
One half and the rest.
Owing that tool from earlier.
Well, we're going to need some syrup on the pancakes.
That's for sure.
I don't care what you say, I'm having ketchup.
Eating this on the floor was too big to go on that stump, this slate.
Well, it's beautiful now.
Get the odd little shower, but the sun's out.
Tried to get big oranges, but all we had was the little satsumas or whatever they are.
I think the only real problem there was the timing with the pancakes,
which caused the eggs and the bacon to overcook a little bit.
It's all perfectly edible, though.
Well, that was lovely.
Couldn't quite finish the pancake. I am so stuffed.
It's the first thing I've eaten today, though, and it's past one in the afternoon now.
Let's tidy this up a bit.
Well, thank you for watching.
It's an interesting one, challenges.
Just shows, don't give up.
You'll end up with something, even if it's not what you intended.
Right.
Well, I need to get going, so I'll see you all soon.
Stay safe. Goodbye.
