Today is September 23rd and the Yankees are not winning the division
We talked with Aaron Boone all about preparing for the postseason. Let's talk Yanks
Hello and welcome to talking Yanks, thank you very much for joining us today. My name is Jimmy. His name is Jake BBD producing
Aaron Boone will be joining
fanatic sports and casino
Presenting and it's my parents 42nd wedding anniversary. So happy anniversary to them
Jake we chat with Aaron Boone all about the mindset of just preparing now because the vision not one
James Davis everyone tuning in. Yes, the Rays won the division at Yankee Stadium. Not a great feeling
And yeah, our our fate that we thought was our fate is our fate. This is our Odyssey
you know, we tried to fight it for a little bit and
And we're gonna wake up next week and hopefully
Calypso stops feeding us that flower and we sober up and we beat the hell out of the Red Sox or whoever shows up
at the stadium, so
Here we are and it's a it's fine-tuning season, which we didn't get last year Jim
We did not get that last year Calypso feeding Otis
Otis is the Lotus the Lotus flower the Lotus flower. Yes
Yeah, we asked Boone about
What does he do now that he has five games to prepare are they gonna try other people at third base
Are they gonna try the you know was Warren gonna be in the bullpen what relievers are gonna get action
Are the starters gonna pitch in games just to get you know healthy
What does he have locked up in his brain or how many questions are open and that's that's the conversation
I also asked about the bunt defense
So you'll see you will see you'll see is more aggressive. You'll see
Yeah, you'll see is aggressive. It's also a little more confident. We'll see. It's all a little more like I have a plan
Well, that's cuz I know that's I know and I don't yeah, but he should mix that in every now and then
Like, you know, will this happen like you'll see cuz that at least I at least yeah feel like oh he knows
We as we're in it together. Yeah, you'll see is we're not we'll see means I don't know either man
We're all just floating say yeah, like I might be a you'll see guy

Welcome back to banter and with Boone presented by T-Mobile happy frog week Aaron. How are you?
I'm all right. How are you?
Good, man. Yeah, we're doing good good weather's changed to fall
Last night Fried had the mock neck on it felt it was fun to look at
For the first half of the game, and then I was like yeah, yeah, I was out of it
How about you Boone obviously things are?
somewhat wrapped up
Playoff wise for the Yankees you're gonna be the top wild-card team. You're gonna be hosting a team
Odds are it's the Red Sox, but that's not official yet
Obviously you want to win the division
Pushing that disappointment aside. Is there any?
kind of relief or
Excitement that you have these next five games
Free where you're not chasing something and you can set yourselves up
However you want yeah, yeah, I mean obviously you want to win the division to get that by me, but
Now that that's done like at least being able to you know use the next five days
You know because there's some guys that can use a blow get off their feet a couple days. You know
Obviously bullpen guys we can use them
To get ready now for next week as opposed to you know
Pushing them in some areas, so
You know I think those parts are okay, and you know good about the next five days, but
You know we also want to go play well, and you know hopefully we can do that and you know
Maybe get some guys in different positions and things like that
Yeah, last year it came down to like the final game
he still had a chance to win it final game, so you didn't have this little window of
Preparation I guess and you mentioned guys playing in different positions
You had been asked and somewhat talked about third base a little bit will we see
Volpe get some reps at third or jazz or anyone new
Yeah, yeah, I'll probably I'll probably put both over there here at some point
he's gonna probably do his work there, you know a little bit this week and
Hopefully get him in a game there and see what that looks like just in talking to him. He felt comfortable with it down there
So yeah something I'll probably look at what about
Lombard we heard he looked great at third and triple-a. He's obviously ups and downs at shortstop
He's been on a nice stretch recently is there. Do you want to see him anywhere else? No? I'll keep him at short, okay?
Who was the other like better like rice? We would try to get him some reps at first base
Yeah, I'll probably get Benny in at first a couple times
You know, I got Caballero in the outfield just because he hasn't played a lot of outfield and he's
He is good at it out there
But you know with just depending on how our final roster is going in the postseason having that position
Flexibility because you might find yourself where in the fifth inning sixth inning boom, you know, he's out there
So, you know just want to be mindful of that kind of stuff here these final days
Now you had said Rodin wasn't gonna start again in the regular season after his outing yesterday
Will we see some of the starters have throw days, you know freed or
Freed pitches today and whoever's gonna get game two
It it kind of match up to that
We might they might have a throw day in the middle like well
We see any of these starters just get some innings against Baltimore. I doubt it
I haven't gone through that part with the pitching group yet of how they want to handle
You know, they're in between their next start so I'm not sure of that and I yeah
What about Warren cuz I Warren it's been projected. He'd end up in a bullpen roll. He's supposedly as one
He'd be lined up for Friday. Is it worth having him come out as like a
Bulk guy opener timer. Yeah, I mean we'll talk about it, but he's scheduled to start Friday
And that's kind of how I'm looking at it
Okay
you get a lot of guys racing to get healthy and obviously you love to see that with Trent with Stanton with
Judge still vying to get in if you guys get deeper into the playoffs and he can is there part of you?
That's like guys
You're gonna make my job really hard if you're all healthy. We don't have the spots like well, I mean that sure that's possible
Well, we'll take that though
Yeah, Grishin Grishin
John Carler are going over to Somerset today to get live at bats with the stay ready group
You know and Aaron Boone and the stay ready group hmm, huh, so it's a good backing band name. Yeah
You know judges gonna work to you know, the only I've ruled out with him is the is the regular season
so, you know, we'll just
You know see how he how he heals and where we're at
As hopefully we we go into each round you didn't rule. I thought there was a quote yesterday
About the wild card getting ruled out for judge or maybe it was just we have to prepare as if he's not
Yeah was a sentiment that I think we're preparing is if not, but I'm not ruling now who gets the final vote
Is it the medical staff is a judge is a you is it?
I think the medical staff and and we'll see where he is as we hopefully, you know
go into
several different rounds and
Clark Clark came out of the game. He felt sore didn't go for imaging is what the last update
I remember is he fine when we see him getting some reps, so he's gonna he's gonna throw again today early
And we'll get an idea like if he's not already if he's not available probably today, then we got to do something
Okay, and the other guys weathers he's not gonna make it back for the regular season, but he's still
Getting ready and preparing and he's not ruled out for the wild-card roster last I heard
Yeah, I haven't ruled anything out there, but you know, he threw another side yesterday
You know, he's up against the clock a little bit
So we'll see and did Cruz throw it all we heard he was clear did okay. Yep, and he's doing well
So he's had a touch and feel on on the mound
his first bullpen, so
He seems to be responding pretty well, but I don't have any
Timeline on him either and just for my heart and this is a heart verse brain battle for me
Look Iran. Hey, hmm came back from injury his first outing. He was averaged 100 on the fastball
My brain says he's still recovering from injury. It would be ridiculous to rush him into a debut and then postseason
Adrenaline but my heart says I want I want to see him throw a hundred. Is there any?
Never know. Okay, so that's not
That could be
Something never know you never know. That's a big we'll see
Popular popular line recently
What about I feel like around the league and it like the Brewers clinched I know Mizorowski
Well, it's a different same same but different but he threw like three innings the other day with with Cole Schlittler a couple of
These guys what do you have a pitch number in mind or what? What will that look like?
Yeah, I'll lean on the pitching group with for that like what we want to do
You know in these starts what is our number ideally to try just set them up for success in their next one
So I don't know what that is yet. I will kind of obviously Garrett goes tonight
so, you know, that'll be something that
Maddie and Desi and
Preston and I kind of
Obviously finalized before we go in tonight
with
but I'll lean on the pitching guys for that like
in
What's our number tonight and and I'll be pretty strict with that with such a platoon heavy
Roster and so many options they were talking about this on the broadcast like on one side. It's great on the other side
it leads to a lot of
Second guessing from people you care don't care about if they second guess but it just leads to it because there's every night you have
Options as this, you know as we go
We're five games away from the postseason and I feel like fans think there's so much up in the air
Do you feel like there's a lot up in the air of who's gonna be in there?
For you in this wildcard series, or do you feel like you know on your end?
You're like no, I I know, you know my option. No. No, I think it's fair
I think it's it's a little day-to-day to me and it again. It doesn't always come down to left, right?
like yes, that is this guy thing, but again every lefties different every righties different so
It'll be game to game
You know, there'll be some guys probably in there on in left on left situations
But there'll be some guys that fall in the platoon because we have obviously those capable people
You know ready and with Schumann going down
For jazz, is he able to?
Is there a timeline on him coming back up if you wanted him to be part of the wildcard roster?
Oh, yeah, only if an injury, okay
Make sense. Um, I I guess I'm jumping back positionally. Like is there anything else?
I you know
I know Ramos had some run in left field and Jones can move around like it is
Are those guys gonna be in the mix to see just different positions because you you don't really know what a playoff series could
Throw at you. Um, yeah, but I feel like they've done that though, you know Spencer since he's come up other than obviously the last
You know
Week two weeks, you know
That's played a ton of left played a ton of right and kind of bounced around each and every day and did a really good
job with that
Same with Ramos and I think Rob Ramos has done a good job in the corners
You know, he's and and I'm comfortable like if he's in left or if he's in right
Now obviously with belly I like having him in left
You know, so there's gonna be that scenario. I'm sure that presents itself at some point this
Postseason where he could find himself in center on a given day or some given innings
but generally speaking I think with
You know with Spencer
You know, it's somehow Caballero ended out there in a game or or Grish comes back into the fold. I got a fun one
Let's Garcia at second get that Yankees
Fanfiction going we'll say okay. I saw some fanfiction that was
It's like judge DH rice first base Garcia second base
Lombard short jazz third now you didn't say jazz was gonna slide around jazz is staying at second this year
Yeah, we'll see. Yeah, that's kind of my plan. But okay, we'll see
Okay, put your hat back on
Meredith and Meredith and Jack Curry both hit a we'll see in unison yesterday. It's becoming a very fun you
You've started like two memes. It's just we should just combine this like we'll see and then equals win
well, the reason I say we'll see a lot I guess is because
you know you get asked speculative questions and if
You give give them a little bit which you do then it's like
Who said this and it's like well, but there is a we'll see component to that. I get it
You know, you want to talk we we defended a judge the other day because he was they asked him Schlittler MVP
And he says essentially a throwaway line for him. He's like, well the pitchers, you know, they have their award
And yeah, yeah, if sometimes if you get a little too much meat to chew on you can chew on it
Especially this time of year. Yeah, that's yeah, that's fair. Thank you. Mm-hmm. I like to think I'm fair

The last couple games that game in Arizona and then last night
The bunt is back
Bunts are back in baseball for some teams
Obviously the Rays or you're in the middle of a series right now but more than any other day have more bunt hits and sack
Bunts than any other team
40 they have 49 on the year
Milwaukee is second with 32
Yeah on that on that play. Is that I'm genuinely is that a
Whatever is that a misread is jazz supposed to be covered first. Yeah, we got to be covered covered first
Okay. Yes, and it's that's the play we work on because of the Rays all the time
Yeah, like we do our bunt coverages
We're prepared for safety squeeze and last night like we feel like that's a hundred percent
Taylor walls in that situation is gonna put down a so our biggest thing is if we can defend it
Tremendously and the bunts not perfect. You might have a chance at the plate
But the biggest thing is let's let's get it out because if they execute that especially with speed on third
It's tough play to defend but we need to get it out. So where's the breakdown there?
Is it just you know communication within the infield?
before that
No, it's not before. It's just I think
Jazz read it as right back to the pitcher and thought Garcia would slam on the brakes
But we're playing that we're playing that aggressively. Yeah, because no, it's coming where Garcia's
You know on the dead run. It's hard for him to slam on the brakes and get back
So we got it. We got to cover that up with second base and
In Arizona, obviously can't cam bobbled the bunt back to him but errors happen. There's that's not anything
Yeah camps cam does a pretty good job
Handling this position, you know, he's not max
Uh-huh, or but you know, he does he does a good job there and yeah
Yeah, it's a ball the other one in Arizona was a two-strike punt that kind of went behind the man
Which obviously a two-strike punch a little more difficult because so that that was the one that
Mac didn't get a good handle on it. If you if you watch how it
happened
That was Perdomo
Cut kind of hit it high and on the turf. It kind of hit and
Spun and checked so it's hard for him to get so we got his glove and then just couldn't get it out
So, you know, that's a two-strike one that
You know, he wasn't bunt on the prior two-strike one so he had a couple two-strike situations
So that's just a kind of a good execution
Tough play that we didn't get a handle on but yeah, and you're not gonna sell out for bunt defense on two strikes
I don't mean there's certain situations certain guys that you go still might do it. So we're gonna honor it. There's a
Relations, there's only been three successful this year. Yeah sacker hit bunts on two strikes
I did have a former manager. Tell me that versus a
Hall of Fame Yankee, he would switch to two-strike
He would he would switch to bunt defense on two strikes because he felt like he got all of his hits
Just tapping breaking balls down the line and I was yeah, that's fun
Yes, I would say
You know, one of the challenges with that
Nowadays is just because the stuff is generally speaking
You know so good that it's a little harder to
You know
When I was playing most of the guys I fit, you know, it wasn't Carrie Wood with two strikes
It was oh, no, he was saying that the batter would bond
He was like his hits are tappers because he's just to strike protecting. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yes
With McMahon last year he comes over you said it was like slipping into a warm bath at third base
We've seen him make good plays, but we've seen a fair share of mishandles
do you think you know and I know it's tough to speak on this because he's in the clubhouse, but is it do you find
it's tethered to the offense or
Is there anything to look at because it has not been the same level as last year. I think that's fair to say
Yeah, but I think overall it's been good. I think I'm guessing the numbers would back that up
But there's been a couple misplays no question, I don't think it's tethered to the offense
Because I feel like he's a very confident defender
But I will even the knowledge a couple misplays of late
That that our place he normally nails down for you in your brain
He's still your best third baseman end of a game your best third baseman with freed on the mound who induces grounders to third
Oh, yeah, but I have it like I think Caballero is really good over there. So to
You made a couple nice plays in game one yesterday. Yeah, Caballero is really good at third
so
But you know as is Mac and and I feel like I feel like Rosie's played a good third his lap this last month
But the you know four or five times he's probably been over there in the last month, you know
I feel like it's been solid which has been good to see because I feel like he went through a little stretch where you know
He struggled a little bit
I've been encouraged with his and you know, his pregame stuff has been really good to his
Tough stretch at third a lot of the balls were double play opportunities that it felt like he got ahead of the first play
You know, there was a I remember doing a video. Yeah, he gets going fast out there sometimes. Yeah
But he's got arm strength
He's got athleticism
And I feel like if you watch him over the last again
Try four or five starts feel like he's done a nice job over there
It talked about the double play on the broadcast yesterday
And I've been talking about it a lot all year because the first part of the year was lots of double plays happening
And I think it was O'Neill talked about how well with Lombard's range and his arm strength
He's playing deeper and him and jazz now have the ability to just turn so many
Double plays like the double play has been a big part of the Yankees game this last two weeks or so
obviously will Warren used to bond max freed even Rodon got a couple is it feel you know, it's almost feels like a
Party trick like, you know get a runner on first
I almost get excited of like we're gonna we're gonna turn to on your ass instead of being worried about it
I feel we're very capable. Yes
We've got to play at that level though, you know
all the time so we have
Guys that are capable of turning really good ones and and the routine but we got it. We got to handle the routine
There's there is one pitcher as we were trying to do the dance with you on the way through that
You know arguably had one of the best pitching not the pitching performance of the year yesterday. I mean Carlos Rodon
Drops it on the table. My goodness
What?
I'm trying to find the right way to phrase this without Ghana. We'll see
I
for the playoffs, we obviously have a lot of starting pitchers is
Like well Rodon be looking to come out of the bullpen and in a wild-card round. I don't know
We will say yeah, I bet definitely. That's fair. I bet again. We can ask it again Boone and
Some ways, you know, obviously last night kind of ended the chase a little bit and now it's about
Getting lined up and doing what we think's best. So
the good thing is like
Man, I feel like Carlos is in a good place and man. He threw the heck out of the ball yesterday
You know, so got a ton of confidence with where he's at and you know, I knew I knew this last time coming back
Obviously we had to still build him up when he got to us
But I knew physically he was probably in the best place. He'd been all year even going back to spring training
You know, that's what the pitching guys were telling me
They really liked where he's at and that's played out like he looks
looks good and the strike throwing over the last couple's gotten really good where that's been the one little bit of bugaboo for him this
Year because the results have been excellent, you know, he's had that sub three most of the year
I feel like you know, but he has had some deeper counts and walks that have kept him from you know
Getting deeper in the games and then yesterday the strike throwing was great. The stuff was great
You know the profile in the heater all day was really good
He was kind of sitting in that 94 range
But then had 97 98 in the tank to when he needed it the change up in the slider been good
So Lowe's is throwing the ball. Well, man, it's good to see if you're up for it. What we can do is
Started like a whisper campaign and
I'll ask you who do you think starting the wild card and you just give the wrong answer and
Then we'll post that clip and and geo locate it just to the greater Boston area and they'll prepare for the wrong pitchers
Yeah
Well, all right, if you think about it just we can always you know, fire the cameras up
Yeah, you know, that's like the Patriot way you see them with their audience right now
Okay, we'll put it there too. Yeah, you know
We can do that. Yeah, Chicago just in case
I don't know. What else you got Jimbo. I feel like we did a lot of like news
You know, it's an interesting area of the season
prepare I
Don't know
What do you got Boone? What's what's one thing that uh, is there like a checklist?
How do you guys approach these five days? Is it like a great regrouping amongst the coaches like okay now
Do you have a does someone have a calendar ready?
Now it's the reset calendar or you know as an understanding a
Little bit like like our pitching group will now start to really map some things out
So I'll lean on them even more heavily than I already do as far as okay, who do we want to prioritize?
today like in the bullpen like
You know, are we staying away and probably being a little more disciplined on certain days to staying away?
But I'm sure they're gonna want these guys throwing
Somewhat regularly, but really more controlled than obviously
Not pushing guys too much. So trying to keep that sharpness and
Obviously, it's big league game
So there's the competitive edge that comes with coming in that wanting to perform and wanting to win the game
but you know our job and making sure that you know
Physically, it's putting them in a good spot
Heading in the next week
Okay, I asked you beforehand. You said you like Kermit the frog. What do you like about Kermit?
Is it just his general presence? Is it the iconic Ness? He's got some sense of humor to him
I guess what attracted you to Kermit? Well, I guess iconic. Okay, well sets of humor
Garrett Cole voice
When when Cole's riled up
He gets lonely he gets a little croaky we have a unique voice no doubt I wouldn't say Kermit
That's your ace
Carlos Legrande hasn't pitched since that first outing. So now I feel like I'm deflated my hopeful bubble
Yeah, but he's in Somerset. He's scheduled for a live today. He's with the stay ready group
Yeah, who else is part of that
Who else is in the stay ready ensemble? I don't have a full list. We'll see. Come on
Well, we got Stanton
Trent Stan the trainer going down there. Come on. Hey, what about Weathers? Is he part of the stay ready group?
Well, he's with us right now. Okay cruise
But JC JC will be up with us as I'm taxi today
Is minor league baseball over pan or Della Cruz, I mean Della Santos
Yeah
Triple A's over
I'd like an invite to that next year. I know we don't ask for a lot of requests, but I'd like to stay ready
Well, Jake could be like the driving range. He could just be running around the outfield as target practice for the BP session
With your frog outfit. Yeah leaping hopping. Yeah, you're getting it. Okay
Binding contract. All right
Thanks booty. I think that's it. Appreciate you. Yeah. Oh, yeah
Let's go Yankees
All right
Time to make our same game parlay picks for tonight's game presented by fanatic sports and casino
You make your own same game parlay by picking multiple legs from tonight's game and combine them into one bet or you can tell our picks
Right in the fanatic sports and casino app. We're facing a lefty today, which means we got some righties, which you know
Probably first hit of the game is going to Paul Goldschmidt for one hit
George Lombard is out there getting reps and he's dialing in for October
He's going for two because they might pull Paul. He's old rest him up
Lombard will be out there two hits and we're taking a Yankees dub because why not feel that winning feeling play Frank
With New York's big series this week. We've teamed up with fanatic sports and casino to give you a 30%
Single game parlay profit boost for each game this series
So if you're betting the series make sure you're getting the most out of every game
bet on baseball all season long with fanatic sports and casino the only sports book to reward every bet and that was
Aaron Boone and Jake the only
Stay ready crew. I like Somerset mistake
Somerset the stay readies. Yeah, I like that. I want to go see what that's about
I need someone in a tree with binoculars. Let me know who's over there
Yeah is LeBron. Hey, you know pump and hunch. What's he doing?
And then the other thing is we will see Volpe at third
My read is probably not jazz at third
Yeah, the way that was phrased was
We've done that and it was literally a will see it's we've we've done that we haven't seen
AV over there that yeah, I mean in a way there's excitement to it of like
Things that we've asked over years to see that. I don't know
I'm also I I obviously wasn't gonna there's nothing to escalate at this point of the season where we're in it
But like, you know what?
Okay, if if Volpe has one good game at third base and we're facing a lefty starter
Does that mean he's the starting third baseman in a playoff series like against the left? You think so?
And if he has one bad game, I think it's for them
It's gonna be way less about what happens in the game, but he said he's gonna be working out at third this week
Yeah, so a lot more. How does he look there and all that stuff?
I
Did have a little tick of optimism and now I am hunting for it right now with judge being out that just it just you
know, I
believe they can win they had a whole stretch against the NL teams after the all-star break where they
They won without judge and without even hitting at all
But my little uptick was last year
they didn't have this window to prepare and they had to play until
162 and throw their best relievers and they lost the first wild-card game
Which means they have to go three
You don't want to go three because that means you burned all three starters, which means the first two games
you know, it was Hill and then
Then they went back to freed I guess but you you know
Bad as you think last year was bad cuz I was back his heel was done was a drop-off and he was done where wrote on
Pitching the best having four starters does help them in the wild-card and having a chance
But you still want to win it in to get an off day for your relievers
Not you know, cuz that's the other thing the relievers were
Pitching a lot in that wild-card last year
yeah
and that's I don't know as everyone starts to daydream and
If you're a someone who follows ball around the league like Sandy Alcantara got a save on his throw day
The Yankees and how they're going to navigate
Whoever they play in the wild-card probably Boston. It's gonna be interesting if you start thinking about how are they?
How do they sneak Rosario and at bat because that's probably his role if he's on the team
How would they handle a game one?
Like is that and is that their best opportunity to throw road on and you you know
and
that would still have him okay to go for a game one of a post it like there are a lot of
Fun ways to go about this with just a reminder
Use those fun exercises to distract yourself from the hell that is a three-game play out wild-card play. Let's do that fun exercise
Okay, we have that
Website that BBD made for us to play around
So let put all four starters on there for now, right yes, they have to be an option yeah
And Warren too, so put Warren on there as well. Yeah, well he's our
third or
Their fourth best guy as a bullpen option right now, so
Bednar
Hedrick Blackburn and there's on Hedrick's on Blackburn's on Tim Hill will be on I think so
Clark we don't know we don't know I would pause there for a second yet
He seemed hesitant on that I would I would I would come back seems like in the next 48 hours
You might have a better idea about Clark again. How many pitchers did they bring last year?
I think I believe in the past or last year in the wild card. They had 15 position players 11 pitchers
I think that's been kind of the norm and how many do we have here in nine right?
Yeah, I mean Stryber and Fulmer probably remember that one game feel pretty confident about Shriver
I think Shriver's got him. Maybe not for maybe RB over. I don't pause pause on there
We'll have at least one more member Chevy Chevy. He is nasty
Sent him yeah, okay, let's go put Wells at catcher. Yeah
pause
LGJ Garcia rice at first base
Goldie really Goldie at first base
Yeah, Ben Rice at DH second base jazz
Lombard at short jazz at second do Volpe
Yeah, do that for now and do Caballero at third with McManus
Yeah, just to lay out
Jones in center field
belly and left field
Ramos and right field
Rosario
Beyond the T. Yeah
We have Dominguez. I think he's gonna be on the team as a pinch runner a wisdom as a right no Schumann
Fine injury, so we keep him off for now. Yeah, no judge. No Schumann. No Trent, so we need one Stanton
I mean we need one catcher and one pitcher Ali Sanchez
You'd assume it is
We did have a JCS guard discussion and hey kind of don't care for the purposes of this
Last year they took 12 pitchers
Two catchers for infielders for outfielders and for utility. I mean honestly as I look at this
it's Clark if he's healthy and
Then if not, it's Yarborough just to eat a game if it goes awry, right? I mean or Fulmer
But I'm saying like Yarborough you can throw 60 and not feel like you're killing a guy's career
When I yeah, yeah when I thought about like what they might like Fulmer more than we think they like fool
I don't know. They've been giving him
looks in spots when I think about Yarby getting
mop-up time which he is good for that role and I think in a like CS or on the table, but like
how you're gonna be more desperate in wild card situation and you have
Rodan and Warren on the team already to be kind of length guy should also look at
Handedness of the Red Sox and all that like they're mostly righty on their their bench is all righty
They have three lefties and three switch hitters. Yeah, they're they're pretty balanced, but as far as like
Pinch-hitting and stuff. Yeah, they like their verse left platoon lineup our guy Jamie Jones
Yeah
IKF
buckle up people
who's uh, let's say the
They get ready with me crew baseball edition
stands good
traject bang is
It I don't know if I'm ready for that Rosario
Yeah
But Dominguez Dominguez Dominguez or Rosario
But uh, oh it's almost it's Rosario because if stands on there you need Dominguez more like you need to pick a runner
With Stan comes a pinch runner. Yeah
It's like one guaranteed spot. You earn a pinch runner
Yeah
Or want to save one?
Trent I
Just those three third baseman. You don't need that. Like I don't see McMahon
McMahon and Rosario
Especially if they're testing Volpe on a third and they like it right is really the caviar is also your backup. Yeah caviar
We could put and I get sure but I'm saying if Volpe moves over
If they like Volpe there and jazz is gonna start there I
Guess it's effectively same cousin
Essentially put there. Well, I know he'd be viewed as a he's or outfield like he'd be viewed as he's everywhere
Yeah, there could we could have a util spot on this page and he would be the guy
Well, and we put Rosario there even though he's not
Yeah
You like this
Yeah, so we got Wells
Yeah
Who's gonna be game one for the Red Sox do they know so that's what I'm looking at right now it looks like
Sonny's supposed to pitch today Suarez tomorrow. So I'm guessing totally Sonny Suarez
That's what people I saw people predicting which I think that's how it's which by the way
We should do this because we all kind of just did uh, all right. Are the Yankees going all game one?
It looks like hole Schlittler
We'll see. I don't know if people are ready for is it is it Fried Schlittler? I don't think it's Fried Schiller
The way it's laid out, right? I couldn't use the off day to lay it out. I think the Red Sox are good against lefties
That's what I
read
Yesterday that way the way they've currently like space it it would line up for
Cole Schlittler games one and two with an extra day of rest and they've in the past done an extra day of rest before
playoffs start for guys when they can and I think we've laid it out, but there is a there's a
Well, I guess what gets more interesting. There's a wild-card theory
You save your best starter for game two because that's either a clinch or eliminating game
I guess what also gets interesting with the Yankees is you know, you don't have the if you advance that but if you
Do have the if you advance that I guess you're delaying Schlittler by a day potentially
I believe if he's game two and I've counted right he'd be available to do games two and five
So you'd still get him twice in the DS
But it is it is potentially delaying starters. Yeah, it's interesting and I don't if you do game one are they
Max and I were trying to do this yesterday. I don't remember if you do if you do game one
I don't remember if there's enough time for them to be ready for game
one I
Don't think so. I think there's like a game missing there that yes, but game two is still fine to do game two with the extra
off day, right
Let me look at this Red Sox as a team
Since the break extra off day their offense has slowed down pretty hard this month
Since the break as a team and this is like everyone I'd rather
Do this and delete players that aren't on the playoff roster, which we'll do later
229 batting average 311 on base percentage 395 slug that's against the lefty starters
against
righty starters since the break
258 batting average 336
432 slug so better versus righty since the break could be freed game one, but
Reed
Is on a pitch count still but has been floating through it
Cole's on a pitch count to but floating through it. I think Cole's on a
Permanent governor
That's for this season. Yes. Yes for this season where McFreed might still be that's not it. It's 97 pitches. Yeah. Yeah and
Call doesn't break
90
He's raised. I don't think they let him throw a 96 pitch. He's probably thrown 70 today
Yeah, but part of the strategy of having Schlittler behind him is you maybe can be more aggressive behind
We start happening or whatever gonna trust
7 no matter what
Cole emptied the tank challenge
Let me uh
whoo
All right, we can end the show, but I'm I'm now interested if I just do like the guys on the Red Sox that will play
right
How they fare?
They love to guys which is tricky
Yes
Yeah, you want to do it against starting pitchers too, right?
Because then it takes away the scrub
relievers that come in
But I'll get this to you next step. I guess or in the in the preview if
This comes to fruition right which it looks like it will maybe you'll be inspired man, and we'll make a short app
Yeah, get out this will get out there some way yes, all right. Thank you guys very much
Tuning in enjoy five games of preparation hmm. Tell me what you're checking off
Yeah, Oh Yanks
Tell him grams Oh Yankees
