7 Things You Didn't Know About Emma Stone
Hollywood has no shortage of stars and celebrities,
but few of them can stand up to the grand actresses of the golden era.
If we had to pick one of the handful who can, our money would definitely be on Emma Stone.
Who would have guessed that the girl who started out as Jonah Hill's love interest in Superbad
would go on to be the big shot of a box office smash movie musical?
Not to mention her collaborations with A-list directors like Woody Allen,
Yagos Lanthimos, or Alejandro Gonzalez. As her last name implies, Stone is a true gem.
It was only a matter of time until a multimedia empire like Disney set its sights on Emma's
talents, and that time has come. Stone plays the eponymous Cruella de Vil in Cruella,
Disney's latest live-action remake of 101 Dalmatians.
It's still hard to imagine how someone with puppy eyes like Emma can actually play a fur-obsessed
villain, but we're sure she's up to the task and we couldn't be more excited.
Even though there's barely a movie fan who doesn't know who Emma is,
Stone is much more than a stylish, worshipped, and award-winning actress.
She's a pretty private person about her personal affairs,
but if you want to get to know the true Emma Stone, go ahead and keep watching

Number 7. Emma Is Not Her Real Name
When it comes to someone as close to our hearts as Emma, it's pretty shocking to find out that
we've been calling her the wrong name all these years. Her name is actually Emily Jean Stone.
It's not uncommon for actors who want to make it in Hollywood to shorten their names or change
them altogether, but Emma's decision to get a new moniker was not an artistic one.
The Screen Actors Guild follows Highlander rules. There can only be one. When she tried to join the
Guild, she found out her birth name was taken, so she decided to go by Riley Stone.
You heard that right, Riley Stone. Emily Jean was a bit too unaccustomed to the name.
She had a guest appearance on TV show Malcolm in the Middle,
and she kept ignoring crew members who called her Riley.
She finally decided to stick to Emma, although she still uses her original
name around friends and family members. So now you know what to call her if you bump into her.
Number 6. She Has Had That Voice Since Childhood
If there's anything Emma's known for besides her manifold talents,
it has to be her instantly identifiable husky voice.
Make no mistake, that voice is not an affectation at all.
It's actually a permanent vocal damage that comes from her childhood.
As a baby, she had a chronic colic and would cry for hours,
which caused her to develop nodules and calluses on her vocal cords as a kid.
Nowadays, she still loses her voice every now and then, and she has quite a bit of
troubleshooting scenes where she has to scream. We're sorry to hear it's such a pain for her,
but her voice has definitely made her stand out from the rest of Hollywood actresses.
Emma, who suffers from asthma,
has jokingly said that smoking when she was four caused her trademark raspiness.
Number 5. She's Not A Redhead Since her first well-known appearance in
Superbad, Emma has become one of Hollywood's favorite redheads. But just like with her name,
she isn't known for her original hair color. The American actress is a natural blonde.
It was Superbad director Judd Apatow who convinced her to dye her mane red for the movie,
which is how the world came to know and love Emma Stone.
Celebrity hairstylist Tracy Cunningham, who created the new look, has revealed that she
was murky brown at the time, and over the years, she has worn a whole range of colors from copper
to mahogany. The first sign that she was actually a blonde came when she starred as Gwen Stacy in
2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man. Seeing her in a new hair color came as a shock to many fans,
but that surprise had nothing on the amazing news that finding out that the chameleonic star
was fair-haired all along. Number 4. She's Had A Hollywood Love Story
We may be wrong about red hair being more fitting for Emma. It was when she started sporting blonde
hair again that she experienced her first true-blue Hollywood romance.
Emma started dating Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield around 2010.
They quickly became one of the most beloved and talked-about couples in the business,
and the relationship went on for more than four years. Of course, some things aren't meant to last,
and they split up in 2015, although they remain as close as they ever were.
They are still friends and see each other on the regular.
Garfield has even admitted Emma is the only person he'd be deserted on an island with.
If only we can all keep such a healthy relationship with our exes!
Number 3. She Owns A Very Special Production Company
When Emma and Andrew Garfield broke up, the world received the news with dismay.
But don't fret, aside from Emma's still strong friendship with her ex,
she has also found someone to settle down with. Dave McCary's name might not be familiar to you,
but that's only because he stays behind the cameras. He is a comedian, writer, and director
who has worked on Saturday Night Live and has also directed the acclaimed comedy Brigsby Bear.
The couple are so happy that they have started a production company together,
so they don't stay away from each other for too long.
Emma and Dave announced their marriage last year, and we were recently blessed with the
news that Emma had given birth to their first child, Emma McCary.
Looks like Stone has finally come to appreciate her artistic name!
Number 2. She Has A Meaningful Tattoo
In the film Birdman, Emma plays Michael Keaton's daughter Sam,
who is decorated with tattoos all over her body. She says that the tats helped her understand her
character better, but the real-life Emma doesn't need that much ink to remember what's important.
The Cruella performer has a single tattoo on her wrist, which depicts a black bird's feet.
The story behind couldn't be more heartwarming. It celebrates her mom's successful fight against
breast cancer. Her mother's favorite song was Blackbird by the Beatles, so Emma wrote to Paul
McCartney and asked him to draw the feet of the bird. Not many can claim to have a tattoo designed
by Sir Paul McCartney, but we are sure the Beatles vocalist appreciated the reason behind it.
By the way, Emma has always been thankful that Mama Stone never told her she had a generalized
anxiety disorder and panic disorder as a kid and just made sure she got over it with the help of
lots of therapy. Number 1. She Has Musical Connections Beyond La La Land
If you're wondering about the Emma Stone-Paul McCartney connection we mentioned,
you'll be happy to know that McCartney is not just Emma's tattoo artist.
Theirs is more of a give-and-take relationship, and Emma actually starred next to McCartney on
his music video for the song Who Cares. It's only natural that he would choose Emma,
as her glowing appearance in La La Land proves she's perfect for any musical setting.
Emma's ties with the musical world go beyond her star-making turn in the romantic comedy-drama
film alongside Ryan Gosling. Before she became a household name, she co-starred next to Rain
Wilson in the 2008 comedy The Rocker, where she played the no-nonsense bass player for a band.
Emma takes her role seriously, so she actually learned to play the instrument for the film.
She probably caught the music bug around that time because a few years later she got her
Broadway debut, playing none other than Sally Bowles, Liza Minnelli's character on Cabaret.
It was her on-stage charm that made La La Land director Damien Chazelle
decide to cast her as Mia, and the rest, as they say, is Oscar history.
That's all for now on the Queen of the City of Stars, Emma Stone.
