hi I'm Stephan Brackett bringing you the
Colorado Early Learning and Development
Guidelines video for six to eight years
social skills at this age most children
are ready for a little more independence
when it comes to their social lives and
interaction outside of the family around
this age your child may be taking on a
bigger role in their household such as
adding to their list of chores and
participating more in family events
using their manners without being
coached demonstrating a competitive
spirit wanting to spend more time with
their friends still under adult
supervision of course
and beginning to think of themselves as
part of a group especially when it comes
to their school community and cultural
identity and developing meaningful
friendships if you want to help your
child thrive at this age here are some
tips start by getting involved continue
to lead by example
join community groups or cultural
organizations as a family carve out time
for your child to socialize and spend
time with their friends outside of
school and recognize when they can take
on more responsibilities such as walking
the dog or packing their own lunch frame
it is a sign of accomplishment and
reward like you've been doing a great
job feeding and brushing the dog I think
you're ready to walk them now - way to
go it can be a little surprising when
you realize that your child is becoming
an independent person the key thing to
remember is that when your child feels
loved and encouraged they also have a
solid foundation to build on in the
future which includes spreading their
wings good job to learn more about what
most kids are doing from 6 to 8 years
old

and Development guidelines at WWE
Learning Sea Org most important if you
feel your child isn't hitting some of
these milestones call your pediatrician
or your child's teacher by working
together as a team you can help your
child get all the support he or she
needs
