AI GeneratedThe San Jose Sharks are struggling with a severe losing streak attributed to systemic failures and poor management under coach Ryan Warsofsky. While players demonstrate effort, the speaker argues that dysfunctional line combinations and an over-reliance on young stars are hindering development and risking player health, necessitating urgent leadership changes.
The San Jose Sharks losing skid continues with yet another loss
and the theme of mismanagement
is still running rampant because it's a freaking mess.
The players had a good game. They played
their hearts out. They didn't look as zombified as usual.
I've said it a million times,
keep her sure with the man that you are.
You are the only person that comes running
out of the gate every single game.
Last night, the players did play hard.
They had some fire behind them for once.
It was nice to see them kick it into gear.
However, the system is still broken.
Mismanagement is still happening to an insane extent.
Last night's performance was because the players had a spark in them.
It had nothing to do with the coaching staff.
It was in spite of them.
We're just a mess. Last night was a mess.
Again, players play hard. I appreciate the performances
from them, but the systems are so damn broken
that it makes this team hard to watch. I mean,
our special teams are a mess.
I'm not going to get too into that just because I know Casey is going to
do a video on that, but they're a mess.
Marchment should not be on the power play, and yet it
It continues.
The mismanagement is just out of control,
I talked about it yesterday, but last night
crossed a line, and I am deeply,
deeply upset about what happened last night, specifically
regarding a special player that we have.
But before I get too into it, as always,
I just want to remind you guys that we're still
on Twitter, our handle's still at Sharks Digest,
and we're still there to give you the latest
news, trades, reports, and rumors about the San Jose Sharks.
We can't always hop on a video, but we can always send out a tweet,
and it's just another way to talk to you guys, and we love doing that.
So, give us a follow and a shout at Sharks Digest on Twitter.
Now, I talked about this a little bit in my last video, but last night,
it really crossed the line, and it got completely out of hand.
And that is, of course...
Ryan Morosovsky just leaning way, way too heavily on Macklin Celebrini.
His workload is completely out of hand, and it is not fair to him.
Warsawski has repeatedly said that Macklin needs better support.
This is a theme going on from last season.
He has better support now, but he's still not being given it
because this team is so, so badly mismanaged.
Looking at his...
His minutes, it, oh my god, it honestly kind of makes me nauseous.
Hold on,
let's pull it up on the other side just so it's a little bit bigger.
That is out of control.
Last night, he had over 28 minutes on ice.
That is absolutely insanity.
I mean, at one point, he took like a full minute long shift,
rested for less than 10
seconds, and then came back out for like...
Over a minute. This is so not sustainable.
This is ridiculous.
He's going to burn out.
He's going to get hurt.
This is not fair to him.
It's actually unbelievable that this is happening.
We have so much talent on this team.
There is no reason for this to be happening.
Again, 28 minutes of time on ice last night.
28 minutes.
A hockey game is 60.
He played almost half of the game.
That is...
Out-of-hand insane and of course, he's Mac.
He he's a superstar. He still played amazing
He was the second star of the game. He had three assists
two primaries
primary on Michael Misa's goal and a primary on Ivar Stenberg's goal
which I will get to that in a second because
at least there's a silver lining but
I mean, he is performing in spite of the circumstances,
but it is just so not sustainable.
It is so upsetting to see such
a young player get beaten into the ground like this.
We can't keep doing this to him.
He's.
He's just not going to be able to keep up after a while.
Again, he's young, he's a superstar, he works so hard.
And of course, I'm sure his desire
to play more is playing part of a role of it
because we have seen him coaching himself quite a bit.
Right?
But...
This just can't keep going on, and of course,
like, again, he is performing exceptionally well
in spite of everything. I think we have another heart campaign coming,
and I think he's probably
gonna win it this time, because, yeah, we are so,
so heavily relying on this poor kid. I mean,
it is just so upsetting.
Again, let's pull up his minutes again. I mean...
How do you expect someone to be putting up
this much time on ice day in and day out
and not get burnt out?
I don't care that he's 20 and young
and in great shape and a superstar and a natural
talent.
This is not sustainable.
It's not healthy.
It's not going to be good in the long run.
He's going to get hurt.
It's a thing.
That is a legitimate thing.
Overtraining, working too hard.
Will cause an injury if you keep doing it.
And clearly, we keep doing it.
Look at his time on ice for the last five games.
He's averaged almost 24 minutes.
That's ridiculous.
Again, we have the support.
It's ridiculous.
But good transition here talking about time on ice
because this is incredibly frustrating.
I talked about it yesterday about this guy
not getting the opportunities he deserved
and it continues.
Philip B. Stett, you deserve so much better.
You need a real opportunity to prove yourself.
At the end of last season,
it was clear that Bisset is ready to become a full-time NHL player.
The times that we've seen him, he's comfortable.
He's confident.
He deserves a spot on this team.
The last game before Dallas, so against the Wild, he was scratched.
For Ty Delandria, which don't even get me started on that,
I had the whole thing yesterday about that.
But, scratch for Ty Delandria.
Okay, finally we get him to play last night,
less than five minutes on ice.
That is ridiculous, and of course, if you pull up his stats,
yeah, he's done a whole lot of nothing,
because we haven't given him the opportunity to do anything.
Again, he looks comfortable and confident,
he deserves more time on ice.
What are we doing?
I mean, he deserves so much better.
He's fast.
He's skilled.
I talk a lot about hands keeping up with feet because when you're fast,
sometimes your hands
can't keep up.
But his, sorry, point the wrong direction,
his do, we saw in his first shift ever where
he just went straight to the net.
He is so strong on his skates.
We are doing a complete disservice to him.
Again, theme of mismanagement.
It runs deep.
It is just ridiculous.
He deserves so much better.
And of course, how are you going to properly evaluate him?
So let's pull up these little notes here.
How are you going to properly evaluate him
if you're not even giving him any time to show what he can do?
Or given the system, okay, not that these systems are working,
but giving, you know, combinations time to mesh.
Granted, the combinations that we have
been doing make absolutely no sense,
But...
This is a disservice to B-Stat.
He deserves so much better than that.
And, you know, giving him less than five minutes
on ice, that's ridiculous.
Or scratching him for a guy like Ty D'Alandria, that's ridiculous.
He deserves so much better.
We can't keep disservicing our young guys like that.
Which also, again,
brings me to another point here of disservicing our young guys.
Ivar Stenberg
I love you so much.
He keeps progressing regardless of the situation
because he repeatedly has been given
the short end of the stick
regarding line mates for the most part.
Again, placed with Delandria and Toffoli.
Don't even get me started on that.
But we had a good appearance from him last night
because of course we did.
He shows up every night.
I love him so much.
He's such a special player.
We really just have, we lucked out with him.
I mean, he's been amazing across the board.
He's been so noticeable, and last night he finally got a 5-on-5 goal.
Shocker to no one, Macklin Celebrini with the primary assist on that.
However, this play completely started because of my GOAT,
Eric Polkamp.
An amazing diving play from him to get
the puck into the Sharks' possession
and really get things going.
I love this guy, I love this guy, I love this guy.
I'll talk about him more in a second.
Ivar is progressing regardless of the circumstances
that we keep putting him into.
Again, not fair to him.
Um...
He doesn't deserve to be playing with Delandria or Toffoli.
He deserves to be playing with better line mates.
It was really cool, and we saw him with Misa and Chernyshov.
Of course, Chernyshov's not an option now, but...
He needs better linemates.
Like we said, Mack needs better linemates.
Ivar needs better linemates, too.
He's too skilled to be playing on the line with freaking Ty Delandria.
You guys know I hate that guy so much.
And these poor line combinations brings me to my next point,
where we should be producing more offense.
We're passing the puck quite a bit,
and we're not getting quality shots.
Look at this depth chart that we have here.
We have so many skilled players on this team,
we shouldn't be struggling so much to create
offense.
We had 23 shots on goal last night.
We should be putting up about 30 a game.
I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation for this team.
Again, going into the season,
people were a little bit nervous because we had such high
octane offense and we're doing absolutely nothing with it.
We can't get through the neutral zone.
We can't stay in the offensive zone,
despite this unbelievable depth that we have.
It's ridiculous, we shouldn't be struggling so much,
and of course, again, it all goes
back to the systems not working,
and Warsawski putting together the most absurd, ridiculous
line combinations that straight up just do not work,
again, Stenberg, DeLandria, and
Toffoli, what the hell is that?
Also, our si- our-
Um, special team systems are not working.
Why is Marchment playing there?
Marchment has repeatedly been given so much opportunity
that should be going to a guy like Beast at Stenberg Mesa,
but is not.
Our veterans are just not performing well.
I, I just, oh, this is just so frustrating to look at.
And again, it all just comes back to Warsawski.
But let's talk about something positive really quickly
because I got to talk about my GOAT.
He's been spectacular in the three games that we see him.
We have Eric Polkamp looking comfortable despite Orlov.
And I need to stress the word despite Orlov
because he has been shackled to him.
And it is, Orlov is just detrimental to the team as a whole,
but it's really not fair
to be putting these young guys
who are just starting to get their NHL reps with him.
Look at what happened to Kangnoni.
Again, I said in my last video,
I've said it a few times, I'm glad he's just in the
AHL just so he's away from Worsawski and Orlov,
because completely hindering his development,
detrimental to him.
But, Paul Camp, the GOAT.
He is thriving despite the circumstances.
He looks comfortable.
He looks confident.
You guys know I really, really love this guy.
So really, really fun to see him get
his first NHL point last night against the Stars on
Ivar's goal.
Again, that play was because of Eric Polkamp.
I love him so much.
I love what he does for this team.
I don't think he's going anywhere anytime soon,
but I would love to see Orlov.
Be shot into the sun, maybe? I don't know. I just can't.
I can't deal with him on my team anymore, but Polkamp has been great.
Again, we've only seen him a couple of times,
but he's gotten assists in three appearances.
So, good stuff from Polkamp.
It looks like we really can rely on him the way that we need to,
and we're really building up our young core,
thank god, but we still need to work on the old core,
because they are hindering the development of the young core,
specifically Dmitri Orlov. He has
just been absolutely horrible every step of the way.
He is just so, so bad. But again, despite it all,
We have Polkamp keeping up, getting his first NHL point,
and looking composed and comfortable
despite Orlov flopping around out there
and just making his job all around more difficult.
But the closing question, of course, is,
is Ryan Warsofsky actually going to learn from any of this
and adjust to help propel our young talent
to the point there they should be?
I'm going to say, probably not.
Look at this horrible skid that we're on right now.
Horrible, tough to watch.
And again, we're like 18 games into the season
and we have two regulation wins.
What is that?
That's just awful.
We really, really need to take a long look inside,
a deep internal look,
because what is happening here is not working.
And if Greer can't see that Warsofsky is not the answer,
Greer's gotta go too then,
because this is not working at all.
I, it's honestly so unbelievably frustrating.
I know you guys were like, wait, are you frustrated?
I can't tell.
Yeah, yeah, I'm frustrated.
I know you guys are too.
This needs to change.
It's unsustainable, especially with what's happening with Mac.
And it just doesn't even make sense.
This shouldn't be happening.
There's no reason for this.
Although, of course, we all do know the reason is Ryan Warsofsky.
But it's been incredibly frustrating.
Again, looking at five game losing streak, that's just ridiculous.
I mean, we are on a...
Can you go away?
I don't want to be reminded of this.
We are on a hell of a skid right now.
It is incredibly hard to watch.
These systems are a mess.
We are overworking Macklin Celebrini.
We are driving that poor kid into the ground.
This is so unsustainable.
And it's just not fair for the guys on the team,
specifically the young ones.
They deserve so much better.
They deserve better opportunities.
They deserve better support.
And also a coach that doesn't throw them under
the bus every chance he gets.
It's so frustrating.
Things need to change.
Please, for the love of God, let us get a new coach.
