Power is still out for tens of thousands of people across
the region after heavy rain and gusty winds swept through western
Washington last night and FOX 13's Sam Campbell surveying
the aftermath joining us live now in Burien. Sam, good morning to you.
Well, good morning, Bill, and thankful that that wind has died down
because it was a biting cold earlier.
But here we are here near Ambon Boulevard, where crews
are waiting to dispatch to one of the many scenes where trees
and debris have knocked out power across the region.
And over here, you can see that on Ambon Boulevard,
the stoplights are still out.
Now, people are getting by as is.
But let's take a look at the numbers of those power outages so far,
a heavy concentration of them being here in Burien.
So just how widespread are the outages?
Well, the answer there is pretty significant.
Reports show that more than 83,000 customers have lost power across
the region since last night.
But right now.
Puget Sound Energy says that just under 10,000 customers
are without power, mostly in King, Pierce and Kitsap counties.
A representative from PSE telling me on the phone recently
that crews have made significant progress in repairs overnight,
but still they are assessing the damage.
Now, meanwhile, Seattle City Light outage map shows
that less than 20,000 customers.
Have power out and that is a reduction from just an hour ago,
but most of them scattered across South Seattle and Burien.
Now officials are reminding everyone to stay at least 30 feet away
from any downed power lines and report them to 911 immediately.
And as you saw just over my shoulder a bit ago,
utility crews are out there out on the roads.
We've seen multiple this morning and they are going
and finding these trees that are laying across the street. So
Contact your local service provider.
If you see these trees, they'll get them chopped up
and get it all sorted out as soon as you can.
But if you want your latest updates on power outages and the like,
you can find those on fox13seattle.com.
Live in Burien, Sam Campbell, Fox 13 News.
