After a knockout blow from the Democrats in the midterm elections,
Donald Trump wants a fighter in his corner.
He says he's offered the White House press secretary job to Dana White,
the man who runs the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Luckily, White already knows his way around a press conference.
Who's got the next question?
Trump even wants six current
or former UFC champions as White's assistants
to defend against what he calls the lunatic left.
The role has been vacant since Katie Zachariah left in October,
after less than a week in the job.
It's a job offer that sparked a barrage of memes online,
including the joking theory
that White House staffers originally recommended
a different.
Dana White. Dana W. White. The former Pentagon spokesperson.
But there's no evidence of such a mix-up beyond conjecture.
And what's more, it wouldn't be the first time Trump has tapped
the world of professional fighting
to fill a job at the White House.
His Education Secretary Linda McMahon is the former CEO of WWE,
while the Homeland Security Secretary is a former MMA fighter.
Another name floated for the job,
rapper and Trump supporter Nicki Minaj.
White House communications director
and former UFC spokesperson himself, Steven Chung,
even gave her his personal endorsement, joking on Social Network X
that he might have found the next White House press secretary,
alongside footage of Minaj's informal audition
for the role on Air Force One.
Very tough.
International tells them what we need.
For now, it's Dana White, the one of UFC fame,
who says he'll meet with Trump on Monday.
The president's longtime ally helped bring cage fighting
to the White House lawn back in June.
Whether he'll take on the briefing room,
however, remains an open question.
