Melania Trump touts Oleshky ceasefire as spark for lasting Russia-Ukraine peace

First Lady Melania Trump called the humanitarian ceasefire in Oleshky a possible starting point for broader peace between Russia and Ukraine as she brought representatives of both countries together at the White House on Thursday.

“We have chosen humanity over war,” Trump said, describing the effort as a chance to build “something more enduring than a temporary ceasefire.” She said residents should be able to live without fear of drones, missiles and land mines. “We were not born to spend our lives hiding in terror,” she said, adding that people are alive to “love, create, explore.”
