Welcome back, everyone. Well, this is quite a story.
So apparently an Italian chef in Australia
refused to put pineapple on pizza.
It ended up in part, part of the reason he was fired. So it's
quite a story. Tyler Fingert is joining us now
with more on what happened. And this is part of
our big discussion today, Tyler. Yeah.
So Elise, this is kind of an interesting story because
obviously the chef is the one who's making the food,
but apparently he had refused his boss's
orders to put
Ham and pineapple on pizzas for guests
at an event at a restaurant he worked at.
So the chef said he refused because he felt putting pineapple
on pizza was just, you know, against his heritage.
That's what he said. Yeah. He basically said, I'm Italian.
That should not have any place on a pizza.
So they fired him earlier this year. So then he argued.
By a tribunal, which I guess essentially a court in our country,
basically filed an unfair dismissal claim.
But Australia's workplace tribunal dismissed it,
saying he filed it too late.
So not saying that it was actually a bad thing that he was fired
or that it was wrong for the restaurant to fire him.
They just said he filed it too late.
So I'm interested to know how long too late.
So obviously we're asking you guys,
where do you stand when it comes to pineapple on pizza?
And honestly, the poll that we've been asking you guys to do
on fox5atlanta.com slash poll has been a little interesting.
I'm shocked.
I'm shocked, guys.
I'm fine with pineapple on pizza.
I just need a little bit of spice to it.
I need, if I'm going to have that sweet of the pineapple,
but I'm not going to go sit there and order it.
10 other orders for pizzas that I'll do before that.
Yeah, I'm surprised here, let's bring in Ella Talmadge,
she's joining us now with what folks
at home are saying.
The poll is surprising to me, Ella,
so what are you seeing in the comments?
Yeah, what I'm seeing is making me really hungry, I will say that.
I'm kind of in the ambivalent camp with you,
Tyler, I need something spicy to cut the pineapple sweetness
But people in the comments are either...
Really for it or really against it, so let's get into it.
Stephanie Walker just says, heck no, short and sweet,
but I've been seeing a lot of recommendations
for how to try it.
Thank
Janet says, I thought it was a no for me for a long time,
but I was convinced to try it
you so
and I was hooked.
My favorite is a barbecue pizza with chicken and pineapple,
which just sounds so good.
much
Whoa, whoa.
Monica says, it's the sweet pineapple taste
for
and the salty meat mix for me.
Yeah, I think a lot of people really like that sweet and savory.
being
But not ham.
That's my, I need that spice like you, Ella.
Yeah, well, okay.
I picked this one because
here.
this is exactly how I eat my pineapple on pizza.
Pair it with sausage and a drizzle of hot honey.
Sweet, spicy, and savory.
So good.
Y'all, if you haven't tried this, you absolutely have to.
That sounds really good. I love a good hot honey.
But still, the naysayers are still chiming in.
Definitely a hard no. Can't tolerate fruit on
pizza. Okay, I kind of stand with Betty on this one, guys.
I just, I, Betty from Douglasville.
You're just disagreeing to disagree.
But see, that's the thing, I'm not, I mean,
but it depends on how hungry I was.
Because if I was that hungry, then that might be a
different story. I think we've got time
for maybe one more, Ella, if you see one.
Oh, yeah, this one.
Making is making me drool,
Canadian bacon and pineapple on a ricotta cheese base with
mozzarella is what I like.
My mother loved pineapple in all forms
and liked pineapple mayonnaise sandwiches.
That part a little wild to me.
I'd like to reflect more on the ricotta.
Shut up.
But yeah, I know right back in.
Tell us more about this pineapple and mayo sandwich. Very
interesting. Very adventurous. The folks have spoken.
Ella and Tyler, thank you both so much
for joining us for this. And thank you for joining us at home.
We hope you have a fantastic
Friday and maybe enjoy your pineapple pizza, everyone. Take care.
