Ladies and gentlemen,
JPL has just announced another inbound close shave space rock.
This time for June 24th.
They've just come out with it today.
I will show you all that in just a moment.
This is 2025 MS1.
Now, it doesn't look like it's going to be a problem for Earth.
It is going to be between Earth and the moon,
traveling at only about 7 kilometers per second.
The rock itself is, well,
they believe to be only about 15 feet in diameter,
although we have not seen a condition code.
The rock is supposed to be passing closer,
closer to the moon than Earth.
And, well, we have to take a look at the condition code
and see how sure they are about this.
There's not a very large inclination either,
which would help the rock penetrate.
So even if it gets caught up in our atmosphere,
I would guess that this rock would probably dissipate
in our atmosphere, or what's a little left of our atmosphere.
I'll move it ahead to the 15th.
It looks like one and the same.
Earth in 2025 MS1.
Let's get some detailed information on that.
All right, taking a look at the solution date,
it looks like they solved the problem today.
You call solving a problem a condition code of seven.
0 meaning they know exactly where the rock is headed and how large it
is, 9 being they have no idea or they're highly uncertain as to both.
Again, solved on the 22nd, i.e. today,
total observations only 21 observations
over 24 hours, first spotted on the 21st.
Looks like our automatic AI software caught the rock.
I don't think a human's ever caught one.
And again, this will be passing between Earth and the moon on the 24th.
We'll get some close approach data now.
All right, taking a look at the close approach data,
they were only able to extrapolate one, I guess,
two flybys that happened before the flyby happening on the 24th.
On the 24th, the rock's going to fly closest to Earth at 1141 UTC time,
which is really
going to be about 541 in the morning central time here in the U.S.
So, again, close approach to Earth, .00210, we've seen much closer.
I did state that the rock would actually fly
by the moon closer than Earth, and according
to this new data, that is incorrect now.
But these are substantial distances from both the Earth and Moon.
So I don't see a problem here.
And you can see we're looking at right about 7 kilometers per second,
6 to 7 kilometers per second as a speed here.
So inbound, not moving very fast,
not very large, fairly high condition code,
which means they're highly uncertain of all of this.
And we're looking for it at about 541
on the morning of the 24th of June.
Now, for those of you that don't know, I only cover space rocks,
near-Earth objects, that are going to be closer than our moon.
And this is one such rock.
2025 MS1, only about 15 feet in diameter, they think.
Moving at about 7 kilometers per second,
they think, not much of an inclination, but again,
they only started to be able to observe the rock yesterday.
Less than 21 observations, and the solution date again was today.
If this is updated, I will let you all know,
but this is 2025 MS1 inbound for a fairly close shave with Earth.
God bless. Please share and subscribe.
Always remember, anything's possible in the Bizarro World.
