Step inside Ibitipoca House, a remarkable 135 m² renovation project in Brumado, Brazil, designed by Gávea Arquitetos. Completed in 2025, this unique residence transforms the remains of an old ruined building into a contemporary home shaped by reclaimed materials, architectural memory, and collective living.

At the heart of the design is a brick wall approximately 25 meters long, created from bricks preserved from the original structure. This linear element organizes the home, connecting spaces and creating a balance between privacy and shared living.

The project also gives new life to original foundation stones, locally produced adobe, reclaimed timber from a demolished warehouse, and salvaged wooden flooring. Instead of erasing the past, the architects allow the history of these materials to become an essential part of the home's identity.

Inside, the house embraces an introspective atmosphere, while its linear layout and mezzanine create different ways to experience everyday life. The result is a thoughtful example of residential architecture where renovation becomes an ongoing process of reuse, transformation, and collective memory.

In this architectural house tour, discover how Gávea Arquitetos reimagines an existing ruin through simple construction methods, material reuse, and a distinctive approach to space.
