I felt a lot of emotions. I felt confused. I felt a little frustrated.
Students attending private career colleges are facing a couple of tough
months ahead. Many were anticipating that they were
going to get OSAP to help them pay for school and tuition.
But now that the Ministry of Colleges and Universities has paused
payments to students attending
these institutions, it means that they're going
to have to think about maybe getting a job to help pay for
school and for life expenses.
Yeah, so right now I just, just getting a job,
being able to start paying off, you know, just rent, school,
groceries, life things right now, which is very difficult.
One thing for, about OSAP, like in the past as well,
when I had received it in post-secondary,
it helped relieve like the stress of not having to work as much.
And because of school, there's that added stress, so I'm not able to.
be as successful as I would like in my school.
It's also impacting the institutions themselves
who rely on tuition dollars to operate.
When you think of operational staff, adjunct
faculty, student life, student resourcing.
Learning resourcing platforms that we use in order to ensure
students have a really great and excellent learning experience, all
those are tied back to tuition dollars for a large part of the budget.
So to have a lot of that pulled away for us, you know,
upwards of $150,000 for a student size of...
A 27 full-time enrolled students is massive.
So the importance of our door staying open
to our context is highly important because
I feel like we're rare as it
is as a Christian higher education institution.
So looking for those that are passionate about
that to come alongside and kind of support
us in this journey is something that we're looking to do.
