A 28-year-old victim shot and killed Halloween weekend in Deep Ellum is being remembered by friends after the tragedy in Dallas. Younique Benjamin was one of four people killed when three different shootings injured 15 people. So far, one man has been arrested, but no shooting suspect has been located. Fox 4's David Centendri spoke with Benjamin's friend who was planning to meet her when shots were fired. David. Well Clarice, tonight the Deep Ellum Community Center holding a meeting with people just to talk about how to move forward from these shootings and what it can do to combat crime in the neighborhood. Some innocent bystanders, it appears, were caught up in the gunfire and I spoke to one woman who is a friend of one of the victims who was killed. She was on her way to the neighborhood to meet that friend when she saw all the chaos. She was my world, like we did everything together. From the moment Oceanae Rose met her best friend, 28-year-old Unique Benjamin, things just clicked. Right off the bat. Right off the bat. Felt like you knew her forever. Forever, like literally, it felt like I knew her forever. After nearly a decade of friendship, Benjamin moved to Chicago, but returned to DFW Halloween weekend. They were planning to meet in Deep Ellum, but that meeting never happened. As I arrived, I just seen a whole bunch of people running and people screaming and cars backing up, police yelling and the lights. Rose approaching one of three shooting scenes in which 15 people were wounded and four others killed, including her friend. I was literally there, like I could. See where, like, she was at, but I just couldn't find her. And I'm texting her, like, where are you at? Community members are discussing ways to curb violence in Deep Ellum. How can you take not only my friend, but other lives? I'm sorry. Rose texted Benjamin as she was approaching Deep Ellum. My friend was so sweet, she didn't deserve this man. As friends, they shared cell phone locations. Benjamin's location still stuck where she was killed by one of those senseless shooters. I just hope you get what you deserve. I hope you get what you deserve. Dallas Police Department has released the names of all four people who were killed in Deep Ellum on Halloween. All four of them are in their 20s.
