The search continues for a man wanted in connection
to a deadly shooting in East Germantown.
They say Jamal Pistoria shot and killed Ophelia
Bellinari Hernandez Camille inside a salon on Monday.
The district attorney says two other women were violently attacked
and sexually assaulted too.
Our Jennifer Lee reports.
Police say that horrific assault
and deadly shooting happened inside this beauty salon,
and you can see outside there's now a small makeshift memorial
growing in memory of the woman who was killed,
and the sign is calling for justice.
Two days after a deadly shooting
and sexual assault inside a beauty salon in East Mount Airy,
prosecutors announcing charges against Jamal Pistoria, a convicted
felon who they say is still at large and considered dangerous.
I'm advising you do not engage him directly. We know what he's capable
of and we don't want him doing hurting anyone else.
So we want to get him off the streets immediately.
The 33 year old suspect is accused of shooting
and killing salon employee Bella Neri Ophelia Hernandez Camille and
sexually assaulting her two co-workers Monday around 2 p.m. The salon,
located on the 6300
block of Stenton Avenue,
had cameras and prosecutors say it recorded the horrific crime.
They say Pistoria allegedly forced a woman to perform a sexual act,
pistol-whipped two of the
women, and for no reason shot and killed Hernandez Camille,
who did not engage with him. Assistant
District Attorney Jeff Hanowski says the two women survived
because they fought back.
The women...
Realizing that the suspect is either out of ammunition
or cannot fire the gun,
decided to fight back.
Had they not done that, who knows what would have happened to them?
Who knows what he would have done to them?
The director of the CARES unit at the DA's office says her team
will continue providing resources to the surviving victims
and Hernandez-Camille's family.
We were able to sit with her husband
and even connected with some of the other
victims that were involved in this tragedy.
And talk with them and just provide,
identify what their immediate supports were.
Pistoria, who now faces murder and rape charges,
is described as 5'6 and weighs around 150 pounds.
Police believe he frequents the 1500 block of Tulpey-Hawkins Street.
And Councilman Anthony Phillips says Pistoria must be found.
Our neighborhood has a sense of pride.
That we respect dignity, respect life, and we expect the excellence,
excellence in our neighborhood. And what happened on Monday was just
a heinous tragedy that should have never happened to these women.
Prosecutors say a $20,000 reward is available for information leading
to Pistoria's arrest and conviction. If you have any information,
