The Liberation (2026) | Official Trailer | Bleecker Street

A mother searching for freedom becomes trapped inside a new kind of prison in The Liberation (2026), a psychological drama and cult thriller from writer-director Guy Nattiv.

Set in the early 1980s and inspired by events from Nattiv’s own family history, the film follows Rita, a Holocaust survivor and mother haunted by the weight of her past. When she encounters charismatic spiritual leader Ricki, Rita leaves her family behind and joins an all-women’s commune promising healing and liberation. But when her daughters Ella and Jo arrive determined to bring her home, they too begin falling under the group’s influence. Starring Carrie Coon, Lily James, Bella Ramsey, Odessa Young, and Tracy Letts, The Liberation explores trauma, manipulation, family, and the dangerous appeal of belonging.
