Let's move back to Minnesota.
Cedric Frazier in that race for Hennepin County attorney.
He has been declared the winner.
He is speaking now.
Let's listen in.
A minute.
We got a governor named Keisha in Georgia.
We got a brother
in Wisconsin.
And we got the first Native American senator
in Minnesota.
I am overwhelmed, and I don't often
get overwhelmed, I'll tell you that.
But I am overwhelmed right now with pride.
This is now my home state.
You know, I've been here nearly 30 years,
and when I first came to this state, the only
thing I could think about
was how quickly can I get back to my home state.
But the only reason I thought that way
was because I wanted to go back to give back.
My dream was to go back to the community I came from,
to be a beacon of hope, to be a
light, to be a resource, to open doors and create opportunities.
That was the reason.
But Minnesota did all those things for me.
And that is why I'm here, that is why I'm still here.
Look, I don't believe
in giving really long speeches.
And I haven't gotten into the speech.
And I knew it was gonna be a lot of free free styling going on.
But I do wanna thank some people off the top.
Once again, thank you all for being here.
Thank you all for being accommodating
and hanging out and being patient.
Maybe one day we can figure out how to count faster.
But thank you all for hanging around.
But first, let me say, I wanna thank.
My family is here, my beautiful,
amazing, and lovely wife, Stella.
And you have been with me
on this ride since day one.
She said to me, when I'm sitting
in the kitchen looking at the results, she said,
I remember when I first met you back on that campus in Morris.
And at that time, I used to wear some really baggy clothes.
I was a kid from the south side of Chicago.
And you have stuck with me.
And you've seen me on this journey and on this ride.
And I know it's not always, it has not always been easy.
Long days, long nights, missing a lot of activities,
but you've held it down and you've always held it down for me.
And I will forever be grateful
and you will always be my ride or die, ten toes down.
And I tell, and I tell everybody that.
And not all of my daughters are here.
One is in college.
She called to congratulate me, said, sorry, I'm missing the party.
And I said, don't worry, babe, we're going to celebrate.
And my oldest couldn't be here.
She's got the two little grandbabies.
She's hanging with them.
But we've got Kalinda.
Kalinda might not understand what
this means today.
But I know you will when you get older.
And I want you to know that daddy has never made a decision,
has never decided to run for any race,
has never decided to stand up and be a voice.
Without one thing ringing in his mind,
am I making a better place for you?
And I will continue to do that.
So I love you, baby.
And now to, you know,
these campaigns are never won alone.
I opened up by saying thank you to all of you,
because you are the voters, and you are the ones who made this happen.
But there are some people that gave their time
and their talent for this race, and it cannot go unnoticed.
So to everyone that helped out, that volunteered,
and gave me insight and gave me thoughts, thank you to all of you.
To Tashawn, I always call
him the wonder kid.
Idiot.
I always say this, I will say this,
because I'm not the young man that I always was, that I used to be.
But if I had a son, if I had a son, I would hope that he would
be interested in doing the things that you're doing right now.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
You got some fans out there, Cole.
And I'm one of them.
Great job.
Great job.
No one will know until you write your book about what
the challenges that we had in this race,
the things that we had to overcome externally and internally.
Somebody said it.
Somebody said it.
Appreciate your connections.
Getting us engaged in the community,
making sure that we were places that we needed to be,
and introducing us to folks.
Where's Maya? Right there.
I always say,
because I have a Maya.
Our middle daughter is Maya.
And Maya, you've been great.
Thank you for all the work that you've done to make this dad look cool.
Ooh.
And you're listening to Cedric Frazier declaring victory
in the Hennepin County Attorney's Race.
Anders Volk, his competition, conceded the race a little while ago.
He is an attorney state rep from Chicago.
Originally, you heard him talk about going to college at U of M Morris
and meeting his wife there.
He's been a public defender in Hennepin County.
Thank you, Tony.
Mary Moriarty not running for re-election
in the seat, so this was an open seat.
It's a big job to determine how crimes will
be prosecuted in Hennepin County.
Again, it is a big, big job, and there
are open cases against federal agents after Operation Metro Surge
that this job will require some decision-making in in the future.
It's a very public-facing job here in Minnesota
with everything that has gone on in the past
and likely could go on and some of those cases carry on,
as you point out, into the future.
And he will be at the helm of those.
We do want to go to.
