Ruth Harper lost her husband and her only son in a car accident 11 years ago. Now two smooth-talking “bank” people are coming to her farmhouse at 4 o’clock to make her sign her home away. They checked her records, and they know she lives alone.

So in a small-town diner, a frightened grandmother walks up to three tough-looking bikers and asks them for the strangest favor of their lives: “I need you boys to pretend to be my sons. Just for one afternoon.”

At 4 o’clock, the scammers sit at her kitchen table with a pen and a smile. “Nobody is coming, Ruth.”
