US Midterms 2026: North Carolina Democrat Voter Swayed by Trump Votes for Republican 2026-11-04 01:04
Nov 3, 2026
Ask how you're registered.
I'm registered as a Democrat.
Okay, well, okay.
So you don't wanna say whether you vote a Democrat or?
Well, I actually voted Republican.
Can I ask why?
Because I believe in states' rights, and
I believe that our country needs a stronger leader than right now.
And who is that leader in your mind?
I think President Trump is doing what needs to be done.
Why would voting for,
I'm assuming you voted for Mr. Watley in the Senate race?
I did.
Why would voting for Mr. Cooper not have given you,
a lot of people are talking about how there are no checks
and balances right now.
Well, I had experience with Governor Cooper that was not to my liking.
What were the issues that were most important to you?
Well, I think we need to have some consistency to follow through
with what's already been established and I do not want
to go through what we went through before with the Senate
and the House fighting against the man rather than fighting
for what they should be doing for representing us as citizens.
So it seemed like that we would be heading back into that direction.
And the direction we're going in now is better than...
Constant impeachment or how would you
how would you phrase that yourself?
Well, I would like I think there have
been some good things that have happened in this
administration and so I'm willing to support
and see that they continue.
If the Democrats do what some of the pundits have said,
that there might be a blue wave,
what do you think is going to happen if that does happen?
I think they're going to pull out
and then they will have wasted all this effort to try
to get peace in that region.
Can I ask how you're registered?
I'm registered as a Democrat.
And how did you vote?
I voted as a Democrat.
In midterms a lot of people don't show up.
Is this one more or less important than usual?
I think that every electoral race is important
and it's our civic duty to vote.
It's equally important and I hope that more people,
especially my generation and
younger will be better about voting.
What are your issues?
What are your big issues this election?
How much time do you have?
I don't want to speak as much on that,
but I'm excited to be here voting and
I'm glad to see other people here doing the same.
