Hey everyone, it's Deja from crochetverafter.com, and today I'm going
to be doing a review on these Lily and Kern scented cotton yarns.
So, I picked up every color that I knew when I was on sale.
It's like a flash sale website,
but you can check out the links below for these on sale.
These are $1.50 each, so I picked up every scent that they had
so that I could try these out, because I've seen these online before.
And I wanted to see what they're all about.
So each one of these colors has a different scent.
So for example, this is chamomile, the green is aloe vera,
vanilla, this is lavender, and I think this is rose? Rose color.
So each one, the scent is pretty strong, so I can smell it.
I have really bad allergies for scents,
and I haven't started sneezing yet.
So that was one of the things that I wanted
to check if it scented good or bad for me.
So far, so good, but I haven't actually started working with them yet.
Another thing I was wondering was, does the scent last?
Because the website, which is yarninspiration.com,
the only website that's on here that I could find,
doesn't give me a lot of information.
It just says, scent of yarn.
It doesn't tell me, you know, does it last for any washes?
Is it just for my, you know, well-being, like, crocheting?
I wanted to see what it was about.
Wash cloths out of these.
Wash these up.
Let's see how all that goes to finish
my very first project, the stitch
washcloth that I'll be posting on.
But this was with the aloe vera yarn,
and I'm not sneezing as I work with scent, which is a good one for me.
It does stay on your hands for a little bit,
so after a year you can still smell your scent, you know, using.
But I want to see how
long this lasts on,
so I am going,
and this one video is on,
maybe some more.
So I finished my next washcloth,
and this one was in rose petal, and it does smell crazy.
Um, the only thing that I'm not digging about this color is,
if you look, let me see if I,
there's a couple spots where the, it's a strange color,
to me it looks a little dirty, like I had
gotten something on the yarn while I was crocheting.
So I don't know if it looks the same
to you guys, but just like if I hold it back,
it looks like there's a couple spots here, here,
It's a little dirty, like it's just a strange color,
so that's the only negative I have about the rose petal.
That was maybe just not fair
and it was just kind of these dark and lights.
I'm going to go and throw it in the washing machine
and see if a smell comes up.
So remember I said I was going to stick the aloe vera outside
in the sun, and I didn't remove the scent.
It still smells like the aloe vera, so that did not happen.
So that's still, this is still smelling,
but I'm going to put this one in the wash and see if it washes out.
So I'll go wash this now, and then I'll let you know if it's okay.
Okay, I machine washed the washcloth. I didn't dry it, so I
was going to see if just the laundry detergent got rid of the scent.
And then if it didn't, then I was going to dry it with the dryer sheet
and see if that got rid of the scent.
But, the laundry detergent seems to have removed the scent.
All I can smell is the laundry detergent,
so I might try, or I will try, on the next
washcloth, putting it in, just hand washing it with a soap,
which is like a really mild
soap.
Try that to see if the scent stays, but it holds in the...
Uh, laundry detergent sent really well,
so it still smells nice, but it did remove the scent,
so if you wash it, the scent is going to be gone.
So let me try hand washing the next one,
I'll show you that one in a little bit, and we'll see what that does.
Okay, I finished my next washcloth,
this one's called the Crossed Single Crochet.
Crossed Single Crochet washcloth, it's made in the chamomile scent.
So, the chamomile is really strong.
It was almost a little difficult to work with.
So if you have allergies to scents like I do,
I was not sneezing, but it was really powerful,
so it's like the color,
but I don't think I would buy it again just because of the scent.
So far, so good with these.
I am going to show you the lavender scent.
how long the scent will last, so let me show you that.
Okay, I just finished the next washcloth.
This one is in the lavender scent, and this one's definite.
Um, definitely smells like lavender,
unlike the vanilla, which you'll see in a little bit.
That one doesn't quite smell like vanilla,
it's got a different kind of scent.
This one really smells like lavender.
The washcloth name is Mini Shell Stitch Washcloth,
so you can check out the free pattern workshop for this one.
But what I'm going to do is I'm going
to try to wet block this, basically.
So I'm just going to get it wet to see if the scent will stay,
so that way we know that if you machine wash,
the rose petal lost all of its scent.
I'm going to see if I just put this and soak it in water for,
I'm going to say about 10 minutes, and then block it.
I'm going to see if it still keeps the lavender scent
or if it goes away, so I'll try that
out and let you know how it works out.
Okay, so I finished using all
of the sugar and cream scents.
Overall, a good, not really a good one.
The vanilla, which is this yellow, it's not,
it does not smell like the traditional vanilla.
It's got kind of a different scent, I know I've smelled it,
but what exactly it is, maybe it's more of
like a vanilla frosting than a regular vanilla, I'm not sure,
but it's a pleasant smell, I like it.
Once you do wash these,
I wet-blocked one of them, and the scent stayed,
the scent will not be removed.
Wash it in the washing machine.
It's probably more for the person crocheting,
it's kind of an aromatherapy kind of thing,
than it is for the person that, you know,
when they have to wash it a few times,
it doesn't work anymore.
So, it's a nice idea, maybe if they can figure out a way
to keep the scent around, it would be even a better idea.
Don't buy it just for the scent,
buy it for the color that you like, that's what you're gonna be.
Try this yarn, let me know how you like it,
let me know what scent you like.
