Now to our top story, a federal judge ordering
the government to bring a deported man back to Minnesota.
Agents detained him during the immigration crackdown earlier this year
and eventually sent him to a country that is not his home country.
Fox 9's Mike Manzoni joins us now to explain.
Mike, the judge found that the feds had no reason to detain him.
Detain him in the first place.
Yeah, Canis Gonzalez is originally from Nicaragua.
He came to the U.S. four years ago through the U.S.-Mexico border.
Officials there allowed him to enter,
and he eventually moved to Minnesota, where he lived in Shakopee.
In 2024, an immigration judge ordered him deported
but held off on enforcing that order over concerns
for his safety if he returned to his native country.
Now, the judge released him under
something called an order of supervision,
but federal agents detained him this past January,
moving him to Texas and eventually sending him
to the Central African Republic in August.
That is a country that even
the U.S. government warns people against traveling to.
But a federal judge is now ordering the feds
to bring Gonzalez back to Minnesota
at their own expense, saying they really had no reason to detain him.
At a news conference on Friday in St. Paul,
Paul, his attorney said federal agents shot Gonzalez.
Gonzalez with rubber bullets,
leaving these injuries shown in court filings.
He would rather stay in the United States
and die than be sent to Africa to die.
And so one of the ICE officers, I think, said something like,
then we can make that happen for you.
And then they were shot with rubber pellets, I believe.
And we've reached out to Homeland
Security officials tonight for comment,
but still have not heard back.
Randy Kelsey.
All right, Mike, thank you.
Well, this Tuesday,
