Learn how to generate effortless power and improve ball striking by initiating the downswing before the backswing is fully completed. By focusing on a lateral pressure shift toward the target, golfers can create a catapult effect that optimizes club speed, improves the low point of the swing, and ensures more consistent contact.
If your golf swing feels hard work you're probably trying
to get power in completely the wrong way.
This one move simplifies your golf swing
and creates effortless power and easy strikes to make
you play better golf straight away.
And the great thing is you don't need to be young, flexible or
strong to do it. It's just about understanding how to move correctly.
Understanding this one move
It becomes easy and once you do it right you just create
effortless speed without even trying.
Let me show you exactly what to do.
So in order to create this effortless speed and easy ball striking
we need to make sure we start
the downswing before we finish the backswing.
The only caveat with this is we have
to make sure we have a complete backswing
but let's assume you've got a complete backswing
and let's really focus on what
we want to see in the downswing. What we want to see basically as the
arms are just finishing the backswing
The lower half should be changing direction
and ideally for me this should be more of a lateral
focus than a rotational focus.
So we feel like our pressure shifts to our lead foot,
a lead knee, a lead hip or move
and kind of you like move towards target. This then pulls our
feet into this more kind of roll position than a lift position.
So we try and feel as the arms
just finishing back we get this lead out with the lower half.
This leads then to the arms falling,
That leads then to basically the body then.
Turning towards target, our attention to the target,
and that leads us to release this golf club correctly
and load these levers at the correct time
so we gain that maximum speed and we also then manage to time
our low point correctly to get that ball and turf interaction.
What we see with lots of golfers
is when they're swinging down, the backswing.
You know the backswing will be completing
and then the downswing starts they lose that
catapult effect that kind of spring effect
and the arms kind of changing direction and falling
and when they fall obviously they shallow the club
when they shallow the golf club they create
more torque and force and then when we do that we can
then get the axis tilt with our body to go
down so then we get the maintain of our wrist angles
which gives us then that contact point
so the idea is as the arms are finishing start to shift out
Leave this early, let the arms fall, and then release and throw.
towards the target.
That gives us the ultimate release and timing of our low
point to give us this perfect contact and
ultimate power. So it's a lot of information there but
basically what is one thing we have
to start the down swing before we complete
the arm swing and the back swing
and we have to do that in a lateral sense.
So the practice would very much be when
our arm gets to kind of chest high back
let's get a little stamp out until we get this lead out
And then once we get that lead out.
That's the feeling we want to practice.
So if you want to do that just with practice swings,
that'll give us the sensations we're looking for
to start this early lead out in the downswing.
If you're comfortable,
you can hit some shots doing that very drill.
I certainly would recommend you do that for a few shots
just to get the feeling.
More things we can make feel real,
help the transference into our natural game.
But when we're hitting natural shots,
the key is can we make sure we just feel more lateral
earlier in the downswing,
get that pressure shift early in the downswing.
Practice this half back,
Feel that lead knee in the foot,
shift that pressure across, early that way.
We're going to go and hit a golf ball
but we're doing exactly the same thing.
By shifting laterally that helps get the low point
after the golf ball so we get that more ball and turf interaction.
By shifting early again it lets those arms fall
so we get the club in the
correct arc or direction to hit straight shots. And then by
releasing that golf club it helps square that club face up
so we deliver the right dynamic loft
but also the right direction to hit the
Hit the shots where you want to go.
So doing this combines everything.
Other exercises you can do, put the club across your chest,
as we're feeling getting sort of seven eighths back,
lead out with that lateral move on the way down.
That's the feels, that's the body feels.
And we're in the same position in the arms, just finishing.
That's the move, then throw.
Throw the arms, don't let the chest go massively forward,
feel it release.
Taking this to the golf course is just really about practicing,
telling the brain what we wanted to do and then let it happen.
