Want to catch a Quebec-made film for just $3? Check out these theatres on select Sundays
Nov 1, 2026
Do you watch Quebec cinema?
And if you do, how much would you pay to support it?
Well, I would pay a lot because I think Quebec cinema is excellent.
It doesn't matter because we want to support the people from here,
so we're ready to watch anything at whatever price.
Starting on November 8th, on every second Sunday of the month,
select theaters throughout the province will
be playing Quebec-made movies for only $3.
Then when someone asks,
what's your favorite Quebec-made movie?
You'll have an answer like these guys.
Me personally, it's Mommy.
Or actually, I love all the movies from Denis Villeneuve.
So it's like our Nolan, Christopher Nolan from here.
Fallen Empire, I think that was very touching.
SODEC, an organization responsible
for promoting culture in Quebec,
is partnering with over 12 independent cinemas
throughout the province.
And their goal is to
is to get people to watch movies made in Quebec by Quebecers.
Two of those cinemas are in Montreal.
Cinéma du Parc and Cinéma Beaubien will both be participating.
Jean-François Lemarche is responsible
for the film selection for both theatres.
It's a way for us and for all the theatres in Quebec to pull
New customers that maybe are not sure to go see a Quebec film.
So only at $3, they're going to say, OK, why not? I'm going to try it.
According to Quebec Statistics Agency, Quebec films accounted
for 9% of cinema attendance last year, down from 15% in 2024.
We feel like a family, and I think here is a very great place to come.
Lamarche says if the project is successful,
the curtain doesn't have to drop on $3 movies.
If all the seats are sold,
that's going to be the first sign that there's demand.
And we're going to see in year two
if we're going to add more tickets, more screenings.
