Hey everyone, it's Deja with KnitAndCrochetEverAfter.com.
Today we have the Legit Lace Pattern,
pattern stitch, whatever it's called.
So this is the Legit Lace.
I'm going to tell you more about it after we do
the actual stitch repeat, pattern repeat.
So we're going to get started with that,
download the pattern below,
and let's start the Legit Lace. You're going to do
multiples of 8 plus 3, so however wide you want it.
Take the pattern repeat of 8 and multiply it, so I did 2 multiples
of 6 to get 16, and then I added 3 for a total cast on of 19 stitches.
So, this is an easy 2 row repeat, and it actually is,
even though it looks, when you look at the pattern,
it looks kind of very busy, you actually catch on to what
the repeat of the stitches are pretty quickly, so it's not too bad.
So for Row 1, we're going to Purl 1,
Knit 1, and we're going to do that twice.
Purl 1, then we're going
to yarn over
and we're going to SK2P.
So that's going to be a slip, knit two together past the slip.
So we're going to slip it as if to knit, slip that first stitch.
We're going to knit two together, so we're decreasing our stitch.
And then we're going to slip that stitch back over this one,
and then we're going to decrease another stitch.
So decrease two stitches on there, so because of that,
we're going to do another yarn over after.
So it's kind of, you'll remember that portion,
so you're going to knit one right after that,
and then that's the repeat. So we're going
to purl one, knit one, and again, and again,
do that little yarn over, slip, knit two together,
and I hate knit two together on a foundation row.
Irks me to death.
Slide that back over.
Two decreases, so we're going to yarn over.
Knit one.
Still have stitches at the end, what are we going to do with these?
We're going to purl one, knit one, purl one.
So just back and forth. Purl one, knit one, purl one.
That's the end of row one. It seemed very messy and lots of stitches,
but I guarantee you when you get twenty rows in,
you're going to have those suckers memorized.
So for Row 2, we're going to do just a lot of knitting and purling.
So we're going to knit one, purl one, knit one,
opposite of what we just did for those last three stitches,
so it gives us kind of a stockinette looking.
Then we're going to purl five.
This is all where we had the decreasing and such,
so that third one should always be on that sk2p.
So just remember those yarn overs,
otherwise you're going to lose some stitches.
So you might want to count them every once in a while,
but you'll kind of know when you're doing your...
Sorry, I should tell you what that's going to be.
When you're doing your stitches, you'll figure it out.
So the next one is knit one, purl one, knit one.
So knit one, just like those first three stitches,
but these three are part of the repeat.
So our repeat is purl five, knit one, purl one, knit one.
So it's not too hard to remember.
And then we're at our last three, which is the last three
of this repeat, which is knit one, purl one, knit one.
So we'll do two more rows just so you get the hang of it.
Same as row one, we're going
to purl one, knit one,
purl one, knit one, knit.
We're going to yarn over and do our sk2p.
slip knit two together, so much easier, not on the foundation row.
And slip, okay.
Yarn over and knit one.
Then our repeat starts over and it's actually like
if you are paying attention when we do this yarn over
then we're doing knit, purl, knit, purl, knit. So we're doing like five
back and forth stitches.
Knit, purl, we're yarning over,
slip, putting two together,
We're going to gather.
passing, yarn over,
And then knit 1, and we have those last three,
but it's just Knit 1, Purl 1, Knit 1, Purl 1.
So you're just going back and forth.
So that kind of helps you to remember the whole row. It's not
really that difficult once you figure out how
that stitch pattern repeats working. Okay, so now
we've got Knit 1, Purl 1, Knit 1,
so we're doing the same thing backwards, and then Purl 5,
We've got the middle and the third one to make sure, we're getting
our yarn overs, there's number five, then we've got knit one,
purl one, knit one, knit one, purl one, and then purl five again.
So the second one is definitely easier than the first one,
but they're really not that difficult to memorize.
So you can really do some TV if you want, knit one, purl one,
knit one, during this stitch pattern, I will allow you to.
That is the front, row one is our right side, and we get those three,
and the real difference between the two, and it's cool, reversible,
it's totally reversible, totally do a scarf or something with it,
but the right side, and it really doesn't matter, both sides are kind
of right sides, but the right side really has the three stockinettes,
and then the kind of knotted lace in the middle kind of sits under,
so see how it kind of dips down?
Whereas the wrong side has two stockinette and the knots sit up,
so it's kind of valley peak.
So it that's kind of really the way that you tell
the front from the back, but I think both sides are cool.
Both sides work really well.
You could add like an extra knit on each side if you wanted to kind of
Thank
make a third on the edge as well or do something else on the edge,
but it's got kind of a chevron at the bottom.
But not a chevron inside, which is kind of interesting to me.
But really easy two row pattern repeat,
very stretchy, very cool looking.
you.
Okay.
And that is the, whatever this is called, the legit lace.
So I'm Deja with Knit and Crochet Ever After,
and thank you for watching!
