ABOUT Hello I'm Laetitia Miéral an Artist and a Paper Magician living in St Etienne, France. You will discover in my channel, my Paper Secrets, my love of fairy tales, french history , the 18th century glimpses in my studio and my Kingdom , my artwork , characters, carriages, dollhouses, Vlogs and Fairy Tale decor videos.
It's the last Halloween video of this season and to celebrate Halloween
we are going to prepare some little biscuits called Langues de chat,
cat's tongue biscuits.
Many European countries have their own variations of this biscuit.
It's a very simple and very basic biscuit but really tasty.
And in France this simple biscuit
which doesn't have chocolate or anything
is served as an accompaniment of a dessert like a flan,
a cream, a mousse or a compote.
They don't have a perfect shape but they look really nice.
And you will see a recipe linked under the video.
I'm going to try Ao Long De Sha,
I'm definitely not an expert in cooking and I have the skills
of a child, but I've already tried them
and they are pretty tasty with a tea or a warm
beverage that you can drink them with.
So we are going to try one,
they are supposed to be very thin, mine they are not exactly
with the texture of the ones you can find
when you buy them, you can buy them actually
in supermarkets.
And we are going to try one, I have some small ones,
some are a little chewy, some are thick.
Slightly drier. So maybe I'm going to try this one.
They're very simple. They don't have tons of
different tastes in your mouth but I like them.
They're very simple and they're perfect for a
little tea time with your cats.
So Clocher didn't want to join me for the tea time,
this pre-Halloween tea time.
And I talked about a Halloween contest
in the previous video, it was the first time,
I wanted to organize one to see if it would inspire
and motivate people to complete their
decors maybe, well at least the year they would purchase the workshop.
So I received a few photos
but I wanted to extend the possibility to join
the contest till the end of October, so October 31st.
So you have till October 31st in case you have finished
at last one of your deco you had started
in September or at the beginning of October.
Orietta from Italy has almost finished her cage,
she enrolled in the Ghost Birds in their cage
and she has already finished her cage and she
needs now to complete the Ghost Birds.
But her cage is really pretty and she has just joined
at the beginning of October so I think she has been really good
and really efficient with her
And there is also Wendy who has finished her
Her white owl, that's a big work,
so she also did really well, she joined this year, this
autumn and she already completed it.
So I can show you here her beautiful owl.
So we will see after all who wins
and I will email each person of course who has sent me
their photos and their little videos.
So of course those who joined the new Halloween autumnal workshop
which is the witch cat and
Pumpkin tassel, they can't take part to the contest
because they've just joined
and you need a little more time than one day to finish something,
even if it's a shorter workshop than most of my workshops.
You still need a bit of time to complete your decor
because you have some drying time, you need to
let things dry. At least one night here,
a few hours there to make progress in the workshop
and in the creation.
So this workshop is open now, you have the link under this video.
If you want to take advantage of the offer,
there is 30% off till November 5,
so it's pretty nice and it makes it a really really
Soft introduction to paper,
it's a workshop I have created especially for beginners,
for people who have no experience with paper
or even with sculpting and I want to try something
not too intimidating
so I have crafted this workshop just for you if it's your case and
we are creating a pumpkin tassel
that you can decorate a lot of places with.
You can decorate your doors.
I have it right now in the balcony door
because I can see it really well and I only have one
I plan to make others
so I could have them hung on the curtains you can have it hung to a
candelabra or chandelier you can have it hung
to a doorknob there are a lot of possibilities and it
doesn't
take space
it's easy
to to store
and it can
decorate
any place
really well.
The witch cat, a little witch cat which is also a beginner creation
I didn't want here for this cat
to do something too complicated with an entire body, with
all the challenges which come with the body,
the hands, the foot, the costume and all of
that.
So it's more simple so that you can only focus on the head
and the head only and we have
a hat which makes even the work a little easier
because doing a hat is pretty easy and pretty
fun and it's the same, you can decorate a lot of place with,
it can turn and now I have
it near my window.
So I tried many places, I tried in the kitchen.
on the wall with something which hangs which can be
also nice to have if you live in a small space
you can find them online pretty easily
The one I have, I couldn't find them.
I wanted to see if I could find them again.
I didn't find them but you can find some similar ones on Amazon
and all the other websites. They
have baroque, sort of baroque style hanger.
I don't know how they call that. Yes, wall hanger
or something like that for lantern
and you can of course use them for lantern or to hang a cat.
So if you want to join this little workshop especially for beginners
to start and to explore some paper techniques to create a cat maybe to
adapt it to your own cat if you want to do the portrait of your cat
you can do that too. It's really a witch cat here
and we work with rather dark colors but
You can you can definitely adapt
and the workshop will be open till the middle of November but the
offer is only available till November 5
and of course once enrolled you can follow the workshop
at your own pace and continue at your own rhythm
so even after the doors of the workshop close.
So the witch cat we
are doing in the new
autumnal Halloween
workshop is now hanging.
on the living room window
because he has more space here and i can see him better
and this way he can move. i usually keep
my autumnal halloween decor till a little after
mid-november so i really keep it pretty much until i put
in place the christmas decor
and i really like it. i just remove
a handful of very very halloween pieces
like the ghosts on the balcony and one
or two things but otherwise i keep everything
Welcome Penny for Halloween and the beginning of November.
I wanted to share with you two books
which I think are perfect at this season.
The first one is of course as we are all about cats in this kingdom
and witch cats and witches.
It is Gobolino the Witch Cat by Ursula Moray Williams
which has been probably the most
important cat in my childhood.
I think this author is the first author who mixed
The Christmas world with the witch world.
I don't know if someone has done that before her,
not that I can think of,
really many, many years before Harry Potter and all of that
because there were several Christmases with Gobolino
and there is the little horse too, the little horse on wheels,
the wood horse, the story of the wood horse.
Thank you very much.
Yes, they're just wonderful,
I used to listen to them on tapes, it was a time when there
was of course no internet and audiobooks,
all of that, so it was on your tape and you
had the little booklet which goes with it
which was so beautiful and the drawings were
wonderful and the storyteller was excellent
and there was the music of Gobolino, this
little harp.
I will put the link below of the story,
the exact recording I was listening to and it
It was a famous book in England.
In France and in Italy,
I don't know if other European countries had the very same tapes,
the very same booklets that you had to go
to your newspaper shop every two weeks to get
one and it was wonderful and I used to spend
so many hours listening to them and especially
during the winter season.
It could be gently scary sometimes, at least when you are 6,
7, 8 years old, it could be a little scary.
The only thing here in this edition, the drawings,
I don't like them very much, they're not too much my cup of tea.
But the text is really nice and beautiful, and it's quite special
that it was written exactly during the middle of the Second World War,
not in the most zen and serene...
A context we could say, peaceful context for sure,
yes this story is wonderful and perfect
for this season, for the entire winter season
because I used to listen to Gobolino especially
at Christmas because there were several Christmases
but they were always a little haunted, there
was always something a bit scary with other cats
because he's a witch cat.
And now as an adult I have my own Gobolino,
my own witch cat which has a bit of white
and a bit of black and it's half nice and half witch.
The second book I wanted to recommend
is the book by my friend Sarah Chrisman.
She has published that I think two years ago
but you can still buy it and it is still available
and it is a collection of haunted stories
which are not known that she had found and
collected from her old magazines,
her collection of old magazines.
You are about to embark on a merry journey to the world of the spirits.
Every story in this collection was written by someone
who has long since passed on into the
unknown realm which awaits us all.
These tales were carefully saved from yellow volumes of
brittle pages and are presented here to give you shivers of delight.
Draw close to your candles or
oil lamps to read these pages.
Just don't look too closely into the shadows behind you
Or you may find yourself with an expected company.
After all, ghosts love to read their own work,
but they need a living hand to open the book.
Thank
you very
much for
joining
me today
and I
hope you
will
have a
magical
Halloween.
Let me know what you are doing for Halloween,
if you are preparing something special,
if you are receiving, doing a dinner, doing a party.
Or are you watching films or reading a special book that night
or creating a nice atmosphere
in your own home even if you don't go out
or you don't receive anyone, if you have some
special practice you like to do, I would love to know that.
A lot of children will come trick or treating in your door,
we don't have this habit unfortunately
here, I wish we had but we don't have it
so for me it's not going to be that, I'm going
I'm going to prepare for November 1st because November 1st is more...
Quite important moment here in France,
but not only in France, I think it's only in
historically Catholic countries that it is celebrated,
this habit of celebrating your
relatives and going to the cemetery, all that.
So this is what we do on November 1st.
It's a family time, it's peaceful, it's quiet,
and you think about your loved ones
who have passed away and it's just something yes reflective
and an important moment during
the the year i think to slow down a bit with our modern fast life
and take the time to spend this
time with those who passed away
so this is what i'm going to do on november 1st and don't forget
to subscribe if you don't want to miss all
the nice videos coming thank you very much
much and I will see you very soon I
have many more videos coming next week
