Hey everyone, it's Sam here and I'm back with the last
of my Halloween makes for this year. I know
it's been very, not so much rushed,
but just very last minute, but I'm pleased with what I have
managed to share with you all.
So this one is a witch's hat gift box or treat box. Perfect table
favour. I do say in the video, I think it could be a little tent.
This could be grass. You could
do something down that kind of route.
You could turn it into an elf hat.
If you want to do something Christmasy I think
that would look good and I'm sure some of you
will see some other ideas with this as well.
Now I have done a witch's hat before but it's
different. This one, perfect table favour like I said,
all you do is you just lift it like this.
It's like a little hinge and then you've got all the treats.
So you can put quite a lot in there
and then when you close it obviously you do it this way
and then just slot that back in.
and just close that up like so and obviously
the weight of everything and the way it is will keep
it closed however if you do want to secure it better
and have that on the outside and just pop
a hook and loop on there and you'll see
that will keep it closed i may end up doing that because it
is going in to the gift hamper thing that i'm doing for my nephew
and that's just gonna if it
moves around that's definitely gonna ensure
everything's secure i'm gonna put some chocolate
eyeballs in this so i can grab those and fill that up
but i think it's turned out wonderful
I don't need any dies to make this one, so let's get started.
So to make one of the witch's hats you need a piece of 11
and a half by eight and a quarter
and along the 11 and a half side you want
to first score at two and three quarters,
five and a half, eight and a quarter and eleven.
You'll have a half inch tab here just rotates
that's at the bottom and then score at two and three quarters.
Then pop it back along the top
here and you just want to put a little dent in the cardstock at one
and three eighths, four and one
eighth, six and seven eighths and nine and five eighths.
You can see I've already scored mine.
You then want to just use your ruler.
I like to use a metal stylus.
Get rid of that one.
And then from the little marker,
we're going to score down to the bottom left
and the bottom right of each of those sections.
You can see.
So fold and burnish them all.
And then you want to make sure that all of your triangle score lines
are all mountain folds.
All of those are mountains.
And then these.
Score lines are all valley folds.
And as you do that,
you'll see that this will all come together.
You get your nail or a ruler,
just go right down into that corner
so you get a nice crisp finish.
Now, you can, if you want,
when we stick this together,
you will see they will all come in like this.
And I've done these kind of boxes before.
If I just fold in,
you can see the look you'll get like that.
It looks really nice.
I've done hole punches and then put ribbon through.
But with this one, we need to trim them right down
because I want to seal this off completely
because you're going to open it from the bottom.
So I'm going to come out about a quarter of an inch and cut down.
And you'll see there's just that little tab
and that will be enough for us to glue together.
Okay, so just fold it this way and just go up
so you're about a quarter of an inch away.
And then this one, and then just to make it a little bit easier
for you to understand the end bit,
where you put your half inch tab here,
if you cut up that score line there
and then cut down a quarter of an inch.
Take a little wedge.
I'm just thinking, because that's all going to be on the base,
we don't need that bit, so we can remove that completely.
You don't actually need that, so that will actually make that smaller,
which would be better if you've got your 11-inch cardstock.
Yeah, it's now 11.
Like I said, I'm just making one of these.
Although I've made witch's hats before in this style,
I haven't done it this way.
you know sticking it to the base and stuff
so actually that is all you want
is the four peaks the quarter inch little tabs either side
and then the four squares on the
bottom now because i wanted to cut this from a4 i only had eight
and a quarter so i need to add
this extra tab i'm going to add it under
this one here now this is a piece of one by two and
three quarters and along the one inch side i've just scored
at half an inch and then we're just
going to put that one under here
this is just going to help keep it all slotted in
We'll take a little bit off the sides
but leave that, don't do it just yet.
And then either side of the tab piece we want
to just cut in half. No, we can,
we can get rid of this one as well.
So remove that completely. We've added the
tab onto that piece and these ones we've cut in half.
This is going to stick.
Right in the center of this so the whole thing will act as a hinge
and that's going to hopefully keep it together
Fingers crossed this is going to work.
So first of all, we start sticking all this together
So you want to run your glue down one of the sides there
and then just fold it in half
Just make sure that all lines up make sure your score line here stays
lined up and then just carefully
when you open it and burnish like so
Let's see how that goes in together.
You might find you just have to take a little bit
of the bulk off right at the top there.
Because you can imagine when all of these start to come together,
it's going to be a little bit tight there.
So just take a little bit off.
And the next one.
And because this is going to be displayed upright,
the weight of what's in it will keep this all closed as well.
So it should work.
You just maybe when you lift it,
you might have to make sure you lift it from the base.
But I think as a table favour, it's still going to work really well.
Again, just carefully open that one up, hold
it all back, take a little bulk, the last one.
I'm trying to think what else this would work for.
It could make a good like circus kind of theme.
It's got that kind of tent, circus tent look about it.
I'm thinking if it could look festive, it could look like an elf's hat.
I've done it in green, green and red with a nice buckle.
Could definitely maybe make it look a bit festive.
Santa's hat, maybe if you put a pom-pom.
It could look a little bit more Santa-like,
but it's because it's so pointy.
And then the last one,
I'm just going to take a little bit off those now
because it's going to be a bit harder to get inside.
You just want to fold them both in over, actually.
I just have to just spend a bit of time on that point.
I think we've got away with that.
Happy with that? That looks pretty good.
And you could always decorate it with something if you wanted to.
So now I should be able to close that and then that.
It's going to lock in now, obviously it goes up on an angle,
so we're going to have to follow that as well, aren't we?
So just take,
kind of want to follow the shape of the hat and see when it goes in.
Obviously, it's got to go up into that angle.
Still want it to be secure.
Yeah, so that's not popping open because we're now going to glue all
of that, stick it on there and then the hat will act as like a hinge.
I think that's the right size circle.
I don't think it's too big.
I'll go through the sizes of the pattern paper,
just see what that looks like.
No, that looks really good.
This could look like a tent.
You could have that with grass
and you could have that as a tent.
That could work.
So I'm going to just add,
I'm going to use,
I've got my huge construction glue here
because my actual small bottle has now broke.
So I'm going to use that.
Now this is a,
Five and a quarter diameter, I think five would be fine.
You could draw around a side plate.
You don't have to, you know, don't worry if you haven't got the dies.
I'm just going to let that just do its thing for a minute.
And then what I've got here is four pieces.
These papers are from this old kit of mine.
I'm actually going to leave these, well, I'm going to...
Pop them all out and I'm going to have them
on the table to do as a little craft with my nephew.
He will love building these skeleton
and stuff and we'll put them on some string
and then he can take them home
and hang them in his bedroom. So I'm going to,
so I'm glad I remembered I had this one,
but I've used the, like the Harley Quinn here.
That stripey one's really good as well
for the witch's hat. There's some lovely
spooky papers there, but you want four pieces of two
and three eighths by four and three quarters.
And I've just marked with a pencil along the middle.
We've got the one and one eighth
and then just cut from the bottom up to that point.
Use your trimmer. You can draw a line if you want
to make sure that you keep it nice and straight.
And then these start to open. So it's working. There we go.
It does work. Make sure that's all secure.
Like I said, this is going to go in his hamper.
But if you imagine this on the table, how nice is that to open?
And then all the treats fall out.
So now I can stick those on all four sides.
I've got the witch's squad to go on the top.
I love that.
There is the finished witch's hat.
It turned out perfectly.
I did add a smaller ring.
I just used the, yeah, I just laid that one
and then it must have been that one.
Yeah, those are the two there.
Just lay your dies over just to see what kind of effect you want.
So the largest one is four and five eighths diameter
and then the smaller one is four and a quarter.
I think that's turned out really well.
So this is going to get filled with chocolate eyes.
So I can go and get the last of the bits tomorrow,
fill the last bits up, and then it's done.
You can just go downstairs on the table.
But yeah, look at that.
How fun and easy.
You can get loads in there as well.
And like I said, it doesn't matter too much about the weight
because if you're going to have these as table favours,
then you can just have them already there
and just say to people, be careful when you open it.
Everything's going to fall out.
And just tell them, you know, pick it up.
From the bottom, not from the top,
so you could also have that on the outside and pop a hook and
loop on there. That's another option or a little magnet.
Still looks really nice from the back,
so a couple of options there. I think it's turned out fab.
I hope you've enjoyed this very
quick Halloween series.
Sorry it's been so late, but I'm back into like 3D makes now,
so look out for my Christmas series because I will be starting that
next month, November, probably around maybe the mid November.
I'm going to get the big projects out first of the selection box.
I won't be doing an advent
because I have them now and it's not something I
need and I've got them for my family and everybody,
but I have lots already.
So you can check out older ones
if you haven't seen them before and you're
new to my channel,
but I've got some really nice ideas to come.
So hopefully you enjoy them.
If you've enjoyed this one,
please give me a thumbs up.
As you know,
it really does help out the channel.
Drop me a comment as well.
Let me know what you think.
And if you've enjoyed this little mini Halloween series and until then,
I'll see you in the next one.
Take care.
