Hi everyone, it's Deja from KnitAndCrochetEverAfter.com,
and today we're doing the All That Arch Stitch.
So, I think you can guess why I'm calling it an arch.
The pattern is below, I'll talk more about
the sample after we do the stitches, but let's get started!
Okay, so the multiple for this pattern is 4 plus 3,
so times whatever width you want, 5, 4, 3 chains for the foundation.
And we're gonna start off with a tri- uh, double crochet, sorry.
We're gonna do it in the fifth foundation chain from our hook,
that we're skipping.
We are considering that a treble crochet,
so we're going to do a lot of double crochets
and treble crochets today.
So our first stitch
is going to be a double,
we're just alternating
trebles and double
crochets.
Until we get to the two doubles,
the last stitch,
we're mirroring what we're rowing.
We did at the beginning,
which was a chain 4 that we were counting as a treble, and now
we're actually going to do a treble in that last chain.
That will finish off row one.
And we only have two row of pattern repeats.
For row 2, we're going to start the arches,
so we're going to do a chain 5, and that's
actually going to be a double crochet with the first 3,
a chain 2 with the next.
Then, we are going to skip our first 3 stitches,
so we're skipping this one, this is counting
as 1, skipping the next one, skipping the third,
and then we're going to work into the
fourth, and what we're going to do is double crochet.
So these are those two treble stitches we did.
So we just gotta remember
that we're doing double crochets in the trebles.
So we're gonna do one in the first treble, and then one in the second.
Yes, you can do a tall chain
for the beginning.
You can do a tall chain and one double crochet,
and then chain two if you want. Totally up to you.
Gives it kind of a nicer edge.
Check out my tall chain video to see how to do that.
And then we, this is my short repeat,
but it's basically the same thing.
You're going to chain two, skip the two double crochets from below,
and then do double crochets in any trebles you come to.
So this was the chain four,
so we're going to do a double right in the top of that chain four.
Too hard to remember. Two in between, and then doubles in the treble.
And then for row 3, it's the same as row 1. So we're going to chain 4.
Like a treble crochet, so you can
do a tall chain and a treble if you want.
And then, instead of working into chains,
we're going to be working around the chains.
So we're going to do
a double crochet.
We'll be doing
two trebles
and just cross.
Double crochets in the chain two space.
And then that very last stitch, because we made the chain five,
we need to do a treble in the third.
You have to move your stitches over.
We have one, two, three.
I said from the hook, the third chain of the turning chain,
and then do that treble, and that's it.
It's just gonna be a repeat of two and three,
so it's a pretty easy going pattern, I think you could watch TV while
you're doing it, it's not too difficult.
I'll show you this, I used
a self-striping yarn,
very wide color,
very large, you're
cutting off ombre, it's not gonna be as noticeable,
because it is such a big pattern, where stuff's
changing, so I don't know if I would recommend self-striping like this,
unless you like the
choppiness, um, otherwise.
I would stick with either really long self-striping
with an ombre effect or a solid color.
Reversible fabric, both sides show well.
I did not block this at all, this came off, so it's a pattern
for not having to block depending on the yarn you're using.
