Gunfire echoes across the Ethiopia-Kenya border in Molaie.
The clashes stem from a territorial dispute between Ethiopia's Oromia
and Somali regions,
further inflamed by the killing of a 13-year-old girl.
The violence is driving thousands to flee into Kenya.
So the war was stopped and started suddenly.
Then we displaced from that area.
So we are facing a lot of challenge here in Ethiopia in this refuge,
but I'm treating people still in this refuge
with a Kenyan cross-red voluntarily.
The UN says 36,000 people have fled into Kenya
as fighting near Molayye intensifies,
with women and children making up most of those displaced.
Why are you still continuing in Ethiopia?
What we are doing, more and more people are fleeing from their country,
coming to our town.
So the initial number of people who were in camps
and also had integrated with the community
is still growing up day by day.
Local leaders are sounding the alarm, warning that the influx could
overwhelm communities already facing food and water shortages.
