AI GeneratedThe discussion focuses on the current Heisman Trophy favorites and dark horse candidates in college football. While Jeremiah Smith remains the overwhelming favorite, the analysts explore how upcoming high-stakes games and quarterback performances could shift the odds for other contenders.
Also around the midway point,
I want to get some Heisman talk in with you,
look at a little bit of last week before we turn the page
and look at some of the biggest games this week.
We'll do all that here coming up next.
Still over here with our guy, Tim Murray of V-Sync.
you're to give him a follow on X at 1.
Tim Murray does a great job over there giving you all
the news and notes you need,
some of the breakdown stuff, some of the ratings.
I was looking at some of your rating stuff, Tim,
and things were moving around earlier this week.
One of the things, though, that we
were talking about some of these futures,
Jeremiah Smith, still the overwhelming favorite
to win the Heisman.
You talked about how you took Lincoln Keenholz
on a dark horse earlier this season.
And honestly, he's played well,
just probably not well enough.
And part of the reason is his team
hasn't played well enough to ultimately put him
in that position to probably win it.
I think Trinidad Chambliss,
Chambliss sitting there, it's plus 600.
With a big game this weekend,
could get himself back in the running.
But.
Ohio State's going to have two more big
games here over the next three weeks
with a bye in the middle.
I feel like if Jeremiah Smith does
a great job with Luke Fahey out there
and everybody's seen all the PIs and everything,
it seems like it might be his to lose going into November.
Yeah, I mean, we talked about it a couple
of weeks ago where it's he's the best player in the sport. Right.
And that's not who always wins this award. We know that to be true.
And a lot of the time it's a quarterback driven award.
And you can make a case for Trinidad Chambliss.
And I'll say this. I think this weekend we can get into it.
That line is telling you a story right now where Texas
is a favorite against Ole Miss.
But if you are of the belief that Ole Miss
is going to win on Saturday night in Austin,
then you should take a little bit of Trinidad Chambliss
at plus 650 to win the Heisman Trophy
because they're going to win that game on his back, right?
He is, I think he's the best quarterback in the sport right now.
Just what he does, what he means to that team.
But they still have a game against Georgia later on in November.
So the schedule is really challenging.
You know, Darian Mensah.
He goes to Notre Dame November 7th.
As we saw on this past Saturday, Notre Dame's defense is not perfect.
And Bear Bachmeier had some good opportunities in that game.
They made some adjustments in the second half.
But certainly Mensah, if you believe that Miami
is going to go to Notre Dame and win,
that guy, he could be a look.
I would never on October 22nd, guys,
say you should bet Jeremiah Smith at minus 105
to win the Heisman Trophy
because we have not seen Luke Fahey take a snap as a starter.
We know there's uncertainty there,
but my gut tells me that Jeremiah Smith's numbers
are going to go up,
and that if you're Luke Fahey or you're St. Clair, look to number
four as much as possible for that get-out-of-jail-free card.
When in doubt, look to number four.
I do want to give a shout-out.
I would never bet him, but...
Jesse Lagree of Oregon State,
if you guys have not seen this dude, he is insane.
He's already got 1,000 receiving yards
as a true freshman at Oregon State.
His quarterback, Atkinson, has been awesome.
This is one of the better stories in college football this year.
