from the horse's mouth some perfect
Panthers updates.
Yes, on Jonah Gajewicz, Markstrom, Barkov, and Marchand. More updates
and a look at the Hometown Remix sweaters coming up on Panthers Digest.
What's up, guys? Welcome to this episode of Panthers Digest.
I'm your host, Greg Andrews.
Comment, like, share, subscribe, hype up this video.
Appreciate you guys tuning in and supporting
me, the channel, and your Panthers.
On this episode, we'll be talking about a little bit
more information given by Paul Maurice in terms
of what is going on with Marchand and Barkov now
that they've started practicing on the ice
a little bit with the team, as well as when is
Markstrom's return going to be,
and we haven't heard anything about Jonah Gajewicz in a long
We have a little bit of an update on him
and a look at the Hometown Remix jerseys.
They're going to be coming out this week, Monday, 9.54 a.m.
Those will come out at the Panthers Ice Den as well as the Arena Shop.
They will have those on sale.
I'll tell you what I think about how they look,
what jersey do I think is the best one
that they have released so far.
Take a look at that and a little tiny look
at tonight's matchup with the Winnipeg Jets
at home.
So anyways, guys, we're going to jump
into this head first right now on Panther's Digest.
So let's take a look at what the heck is going on with all of our guys,
especially our captain, Sasha Barkov.
Captain and veteran Sparkplug Barkov,
they're intensifying their recoveries, as well as Brad Marchand.
Palmyra's confirmed both elite Fords have returned to the ice,
targeting a November lineup re-entry.
We already know, I told you a couple, a day ago,
or was it yesterday, I don't even remember.
Everything's kind of running into, all the days
are kind of mixing into one another, but.
A three-week return for Brad Marchand, four weeks for Alexander Barkov.
Here is what Paul Maurice had to say on Barkov and Marchand
in terms of what is going on now
that they've started practicing with the team.
He said, once they've hit the ice, again,
this is from a day and a half ago, two days ago,
we finally got better quotes from him.
Once they hit the ice, they'll travel with us exclusively,
so they're in here every day.
They have an injury skate before we practice,
and then at some point, they'll move up into the main group.
So good news in terms of, okay, they're skating,
they're doing some pre-practice skating just to
move around, see how they're feeling,
start to work out the little kinks and maybe a little
stiffness, stuff like that.
I'm sure they've been rehabbing outside of being on the ice
with the training staff and with the doctors,
physical therapists, what have you.
So really, really good news there.
Again, let's hope we see a little bit quicker
Of a recovery, but I know some of you have been commenting saying,
no, let them just rest and recover.
Let them take their time and get back.
Yeah, if we're winning and we're playing
solid hockey, don't rush them back.
Let's have them say, and let's have the doctor say,
look, he's looking better than 100%.
He's ready to come back.
That's what I want to hear.
I want to hear Barkov and Marchand both say,
guys, I'm feeling great.
I'm feeling great, better than I have in a long time.
Perfect.
Then it's time to hit the ice and put it back on the roster.
So anyways, here is Paul Maurice on Gajevic,
someone we have not heard a lot about in a long time.
Nothing new other than the last I've heard he was improving.
So that's a positive.
There isn't much to take away from that,
but the last time I reported on Jonah Gajevich
was there is no clear timetable on when he will return.
There is nothing pretty much in terms
of any positive movement forward in the right direction.
It was, he's pretty much been stuck in neutral.
No positive movement, no negative movement.
Everything has kind of been this, it doesn't look good.
It doesn't look good.
This is actually a positive sign
when he said the positive news is that he is improving.
Even though there's still no timetable of a return,
I like hearing the fact that he
is improving coming from the coach's mouth.
Again, I'm just throwing things at you
so you're hearing it from the horse's mouth
instead of just, all right, we know that these guys are back.
Let's get a little bit more, like,
for Brad Marchand and Alexander Barkov.
Yeah, okay, they're back, they're skating, but what is going on?
What are they doing?
They've traveled with the team to Winnipeg.
They were skating there.
They're home now.
I'm sure they're going to be traveling
with the team in the future for our next road trip,
and they will still be skating again.
Get them on the ice.
Get them practicing, doing the pre-injury warm-ups.
Then get them back on the ice, hopefully, in about,
for Brad Marchand, maybe a week and a half.
Maybe you give him one week full practice with the team
and then get him in the roster and get him back playing with the team.
And then same thing for Barkov.
Maybe you start giving him full contact 10 days
before he's going to get back on the roster
and be a part of the team and play in games.
And here's Paul Maurice on Markstrom.
Even though Schmidt has been playing pretty solid.
Skated today again a couple days ago.
I think we said 10 to 14 days.
I think we're optimistic that it's closer to 10 than 14.
But it'll all be feel on the ice for him.
But he's not far off.
So with that being said from a couple of days ago when he said this,
when they originally said Marksman was about 10 days to two weeks,
we could probably see him back
in the next probably five days to six days.
Hopefully that's the case.
By the time we hit the road, hopefully he is back.
But I still, like, I'm itching to see Cooper Black play another game.
Let me know what you guys think.
Do you think, all right, you know what, Markstrom being injury-prone,
having to deal with a couple of different things already,
the stiffness,
we pulled him out of a couple games for a few days,
and now he's dealing with this shoulder injury where he took a puck.
Yeah, there are certain spots on the padding where it's a little loose,
and, yeah, you can get hit and hurts.
But do you think, hey, let Schmidt ride it out.
He's playing great.
Give Cooper Black another shot.
I think we are going to see Schmid in that tonight, by the way.
But anyways, let me know what you think.
Comment down below.
Now, the moment when I think a lot of you have been waiting for,
what are these jerseys?
I know somebody let stuff sneak out there
because they had some youth jerseys come out a few weeks back.
But these were rumors.
Nobody thought this was actually what they were going to look like,
but this is indeed what the jerseys will look like.
I'll show you in just a minute.
Florida Panthers, historic new jersey debuts on Monday.
Like I said, pink in the rink should give you an idea
of what they're going to look like.
Drum roll.
Here they are.
This is what the jerseys are going to be looking like.
Just like that.
They are going to have the LaCroix patch on it,
wherever, whatever side.
So this is a youth jersey.
They're going to look just like this.
I'm, they're okay.
I mean, eh, they're okay.
So they're going to be wearing this
on Monday and Wednesday of this week.
And then at the following games here, as you can see.
Other games will be November 28th, December 10th,
December 26th, January 2nd, January 16th,
February 13th, and March 6th, as well as March 27th.
So a slew of games where they will be
wearing this jersey. I'm like, they're okay.
My favorite one, and I'm sure a lot of you will
agree with me, is this alternate jersey. I absolutely love this one.
If anybody from the Florida Panthers is watching,
I want to get my hands on one of these.
An authentic jersey.
This alternate one was my favorite.
I love what they did with this.
It is just fantastic.
I love it better than the jerseys they wear day in and day out.
It's the normal jerseys.
I like them better than the throwback ones they wore.
This is the best alternate jersey they've ever released.
Let me know what you guys think down below.
Is that your favorite jersey?
What do you think about the new one?
I'm sorry, not jersey, sweater.
I keep saying that.
So this is an alternate sweater.
Sorry, I made that mistake.
But let me know.
Do you like this one?
How do you feel about the pink in the rink jersey sweater?
Sorry, did it again.
Keep catching myself.
But anyways, let's take a look now.
Again, 9.54 in a.m. Monday.
The other sweaters, these guys,
will be on sale to the public officially.
So definitely, if you like them, get in there.
They'll probably be gone pretty quick.
Real quick, but.
Again, anybody out there,
you're looking to get rid of one,
I would love to get my hands on one.
Anybody from the Panthers organization watching,
if you're like, hey, yeah,
we can get our hands on one for you,
give you some Panther swag, do it.
I'll also take another hat.
I'm still waiting on mine.
But anyways, a look at tonight's game.
Here we go.
This is what we're looking at.
I'll pull this off to the left so you guys can see it.
Panthers played Jets.
I prefer Higgies.
Two-goal performance.
We dominated the last game.
Penalty kill was great.
Power play was awesome.
Schmid looked good in the net.
We were moving things on offense.
We were controlling the putt.
Our defense was great.
Excuse me.
My goodness.
That came out of nowhere.
Our defense was great.
I mean, overall, it was an A-plus performance by the...
I wouldn't say A-plus, but an A.
By the Florida Panthers.
He still has a little bit of mistakes here and there.
But tonight's game should be interesting.
Should definitely be interesting.
Obviously, here are the goaltending comparisons right here.
Schmidt in net tonight for us.
His GAA finally went under three
after having just the one lone goal scored on him
against the Jets in the last game.
885 save percentage.
Things are looking up for him.
Probably see Skinner in net.
Wouldn't surprise me.
Obviously, I don't know who's going to be in net for them,
but for the Panthers, that is who I know will be there.
We all know.
Who to look out for on their team, who to look out for here.
You all know how the Kachuk brothers are playing.
We all know how Verhage is playing.
Reinhardt's been on fire with the power play.
And I'm going to give you a few numbers
after we look at these team stats.
Obviously, we're running the house here pretty much up and down
with all of these stats except for penalty minutes.
We don't want to own that one.
Now, they have one shorthanded goal.
We don't have any there.
We don't have any shorthanded goals against either, which is a plus.
Penalty kill has been great.
Power play has been great.
By the way, our power play goals,
we have 15, that is fourth in the NHL.
Power play percentage, we're now up to 23%.
That's 11th in the NHL, a hell of a lot better than when we started.
We were like 5-point-something percent last in the league
or 3-point-something percent after like five games.
Penalty kill, 85.5%, sixth in the league.
Goals against average, 285.
We are eighth in the league.
We have 37 goals against.
That's it.
That's eighth best.
By the way, Matthew Kuchuk is second in the NHL in assists,
tied with several players with 16,
seventh in points with 20,
power play assist, he's third in the league,
and then Seth Jones is fourth with eight,
and Rhino has five power play goals,
he's second in the league,
tied with a couple of players as well,
and Markstrom's 221 goals against average
is seventh in the NHL.
So, the Florida Panthers have been playing
significantly better.
But they've got to play up to their competition, not down to it.
Hopefully they own the game tonight like they did
in the other night against the Jets.
Hopefully they will continue this trend moving forward
and carry it over against the better
teams, the Bruins, the Oilers, the Carolina Hurricanes,
the Ottawa Senators, because our
Atlantic division is so tight right now.
We're three points out of first.
We're only a point out of last place.
But so are so many teams.
It is going to be super tight.
I don't know when any one team will probably pull away.
Long season.
Let's see who is going to grind it out this season
and be able to get into the playoffs.
I think it's going to be tight all the way down to the wire,
probably until those last 10 games of the season
where we start to kind of see things map out,
unless by some chance some team is just running away with it somewhere.
I don't really see that happening.
Again, it's early in the season.
I think some teams will start to slow down.
Things will start to catch up with them.
I think the Panthers will grind it out this year
and they'll start to pull away at some point.
Not, you know, by 10 points,
but I think by the end of the season
we'll be one of the top two teams in the Atlantic Division,
especially with Barkov back and Marchand back.
Anyways, guys, comment down below on everything.
What do you think about the alternate sweaters
that are out there for the hometown remix?
Do you like that one
or do you like the old school blue one that came out?
I love that.
What do you think about the updates on Marchand, Barkov?
Gajevic, Mark Strump,
tell me what you guys think and how do you feel about the Panthers
moving forward?
Do you think we can take on those teams
that are higher up in the standings and we can
hold our own and kick their butts and get those two points?
Let me know what you think, guys.
Are you excited?
Anyways, until next time, go Cats.
