And it's time to talk about La Liga MX Femenil
that has been a historical tournament this
time around.
The first time since the restructure of this tournament.
Camila break it down,
what are the changes that we experienced in this tournament and
Do they work or is it just more jumbo-jumbo
that they're trying to complicate the league?
Break it down.
What is your analysis?
Yes, so Liga MX Femenil has officially been restructured.
It's not going to be, you know, one big list of standings.
Now we're going to have Group A and we have Group B.
This was done to shorten travel time.
We're going to encourage more rivalries in the league,
which I think is absolutely amazing, right?
Right. We're also, I think the.
The biggest reason why we had this restructuring
was to encourage more people to go to the games.
Last season, there was a lot of controversy.
A lot of weak games.
A lot of weak games, a lot of games during
the weekday, which is tiring.
It throws off the whole schedule for the players.
But also, last season, we had a lot of controversy.
Tigres wasn't playing that well on the men's side.
They had a back-to-back game.
People packed the stadium for the men's team that was underperforming.
But for the women who were playing
incredibly well, it wasn't even half full.
this change and this restructuring has been made
to hopefully bring more people and more eyes into
it but it has been a phenomenal tournament
so far America, Tigres and Juarez if you're a Juarez
fan on the men's side don't worry
because the men obviously aren't performing but the women
are they have been doing incredibly well
And for Tigres, too, I think the highlight for me watching
this so far has been the Tigres-America rivalry has been incredible.
You know, America, even though he likes to make fun of me
and say that I'm an Americanista,
America, I've been calling it from two seasons ago
when they lost against Tigres.
I thought that they were the better team,
and they have absolutely shown themselves to be,
and it's been incredible to watch.
They have some incredible forwards like Scarlett Camberos,
who has been just doing an amazing job.
It's amazing to see.
The growth of Liga MX Femenil, without a doubt,
last season, you know who we forgot to mention
in our first segment, and it makes me think about it right now?
El Mazatlán.
El Mazatlán se nos fue para el torneo,
and unfortunately, last tournament, they were...
Critical for people to realize how different the experience
for a soccer player it is on the men's side than the women's side.
These players, the female players from Mazatlán, were traveling up
to 14 hours by bus before a game, straight to the stadium to play,
not even catching a night of sleep,
getting on their buses back, 14 hours back to training.
It was inhumane. The coach himself came out to say, like,
I cannot work like this. These players, they cannot stay healthy.
protect themselves against injuries.
There was no way to do.
And finally, we're creating this type of adjustment
to the league to prevent these type of things.
Um,
It's good to see that the Liga MX Femenil
is trying to do what they need to do
to make the league sustainable,
attractive to the people,
but also exciting on the field.
And that, they never disappoint
because the top teams, you know, great level of play.
This league is growing so much
that now we have Raúl El Potro Gutiérrez,
a coach that won.
El Mundial Sub-17 with the national team boys.
He also coached Club America.
Now with Cruz Azul.
I think when you get this type of coaches involved in a league,
in a women's league,
it speaks volumes of what they're doing.
They're getting very serious about it.
They are investing money with the players.
They want this league to grow.
They want to see the stadiums full.
And I think I love it.
You know, my little girl has a future.
She plays soccer in Mexico as well.
As in the United States, and I think NWSL
is not falling behind, but they're doing here
in the United States with the women's game is impressive,
some of these teams have been
performing at the highest level and both teams from Liga MX
and NWSL could compete in Champions
League levels easily, especially Tigres, America,
Gotham, maybe Kansas City if they put their
game together.
Las Chivas.
Las Chivas, también playing right there.
Exciting to see.
The story of this tournament in Liga MX Femenil is Juárez,
a team that against every odd is
fighting for the top spots,
they have a chance to be champions, it will be historical to
defeat teams like Tigres
and América that have the highest payrolls in the tournament
and like we were saying before,
brings back this sense of illusion, these poetic, historical
It goes, uh...
It's amazing.
It's good to see it happening.
On the other side, we have América in the other group.
Because in one group, we have Monterrey
and Tigres and Juárez fighting for the top spot.
And on the other side, we have América and Chivas.
But don't get too excited because América
has like twice as many points as Chivas.
Chivas is in second place.
Chivas is in second place, you know.
But it's exciting to see.
A lot of new eyeballs on the league,
and they keep bringing top players to the league, which is exciting.
I think exactly, like you said, top players.
I think this season especially,
we saw the NWSL and Liga MX be so interconnected and intertwined,
changing and transferring players back and forth.
And I think it's just a testament to how much both leagues have grown
and are trying to really grow together
to bring up women's football as a whole.
