Roland TD-07DMK2 vs. TD-07KV2
Which electronic drum kit should you buy?
Roland has announced two new 5-piece electronic drum kits,
the TD-07DMK2 at $899.99
and the TD-07KV2 at $1,099.99,
both scheduled for October 2026.
Choose the TD-07D-MK2 if price
and a compact playing layout matter most.
Choose the TD-07K-V2 if you want a larger floor tom pad,
larger crash and ride cymbals,
and two crashes included from the start.
Both kits use the TD-07 sound module,
mesh head drum pads, and a freestanding KD-10 kick pad
that supports single and double beaters.
Both also include built-in coaching tools, a metronome,
and access to Roland's Drum Pass Lesson Bundle from Melodics.
The $200 price difference between
the two kits reflects physical configuration, not the sound module.
The TD-07KV2 upgrades the floor tom from an 8-inch to a 10-inch pad.
It also adds a second crash cymbal and upgrades the primary crash
and ride cymbals from CY-5 to CY-8.
The TD-07DMK2 keeps its floor tom at 8 inches
and includes an extra mounting arm for a later second crash upgrade,
though the cymbal is a separate purchase.
Both kits offer Bluetooth audio input, Bluetooth MIDI,
and USB audio and MIDI recording to a computer.
USB audio requires Roland's vendor driver
and the corresponding module mode.
A kick pedal and drum throne
are sold separately, so budget accordingly.
Electronic does not mean silent.
Sticks and pedals still create impact noise and vibration,
especially upstairs.
The TD-07DMK2 is the logical starting point for beginners
and casual drummers
working within a tighter budget.
Students and returning players who want a fuller cymbal layout
will find the extra $200 for the TD-07KV-2 worthwhile.
Both kits are announced for October 2026
and have not yet been independently tested.
