All right, Chip, thanks. More than 5 million
people have already voted early here in Texas.
Yeah, Tizia Muzenga is joining us in studio with what you need
to know on the final day of early voting.
Hi, DCM. Hey, good morning, guys.
Yeah, if you plan to vote early, you have until 7 p.m. to cast
your ballot today. After that, your only option is on Tuesday.
So we're seeing record-setting
turnout for this midterm.
Statewide, nearly 6 million Texans have voted early. That's 31%
Of registered voters in the state.
In Dallas County, more than 500,000 people
have already submitted their choices.
That's up 63% from the same time in the previous midterm in 2022,
and just 6% lower than the last presidential election.
Looking around North Texas,
there are more than 500,000 early voters in Tarrant County,
330,000 in Collin County, and 280,000 in Denton County.
You can see how those numbers compare in 2022.
So there are several key issues bringing
voters to the polls in the midterm.
The most expensive non-presidential race in Texas history,
a seat in the United States
Senate.
Democrat James Tallarico is hoping to end
a 30-year drought for his party as he takes
on Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Now, voters in Dallas County have an important choice,
too, weighing in on a property tax
increase to fund homelessness prevention
and expand access to mental health care.
And in the city of Dallas,
Proposition A asks voters to approve a $443 million bond package
for public safety.
That includes new police training facilities, an emergency operations
and 911 center, a new evidence and forensics facility,
and a replacement for fire station number four.
The city estimates repaying the bonds would cost about $629 million,
including interest.
Thank you.
Now, once again, early voting ends at 7
o'clock tonight before Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd.
For Good Day, I'm Tizia Muzenga.
