The family of an Apple Valley woman is looking for some answers after
some of her prized possessions are missing from a local hospital.
The 65 year old passed away at Fairview Ridges in Burnsville earlier
this month and her loved ones haven't seen several pieces
of her heirloom jewelry since.
Maury Glover spoke with their daughter.
He joins us now with more on this. Maury?
Well, family members say the Laotian immigrant came
to the U.S. in the late 80s in search of a better life.
They say her jewelry was a symbol of her culture
and who she was as a person.
And now it's gone, just like she is.
She was strong, resilient, determined.
Family members say Bones Sukcharin wore
her 24 karat gold jewelry every day.
But now her prized possessions
are missing almost a month after her death.
Angry, frustrated, devastated.
Sukhjaran was pronounced dead at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville
after experiencing cardiac arrest
at her home in Apple Valley on October 1st.
Her family says the last time they saw her earrings,
necklace, and wedding rings
were on her body in the emergency room.
But since then, they've disappeared.
Those were the things that she worked her entire life to buy.
And she wanted to pass down her heirlooms to her daughters,
and her daughters will pass down to their daughters.
Klikatsky and Sons Funeral Home
in West St. Paul says they didn't receive any jewelry from the hospital
when they transported Sukhchuran's body to be cremated.
A spokesperson for M Health Fairview said in a statement,
We take concerns about missing patient belongings very seriously
and are committed to thoroughly reviewing the circumstances
and helping the family find answers.
It's something you shouldn't have to worry about as someone
who has lost their mom.
Family members say the missing items
are only worth about $5,000 to $10,000.
But they don't believe Sukhjaran will be able
to fully rest in peace until her jewelry is returned.
All we want is the jewelry back so we can take it
and give it to her in her afterlife.
Now the family is sharing images of the jewelry
in case it turns up at a local pawn shop.
In the meantime, Burnsville police say they
are investigating the missing items.
Back to you.
All right, we hope for an update soon on that.
Thank you, Maury.
