Hi, welcome to AFTV. I've got Charlene with me after
a 2-0 win against Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
2-0 win. Did you predict 2-0?
I predicted 2-0. I just knew
from the offset that it would be a 2-0 win.
Really? Even when you saw the 11?
Because the 11 seemed changed and different.
You still were confident it was going to be 2-0 the whole way?
Yeah, even though it was only a few changes.
First of all, Mourinho, when's the last time he started a game?
And then obviously moving Myles Lewis-Skelly over
to the left-back position
and seeing Gyökeres start in the Premier League as well.
I was like, OK, this is quite bold from Mikel Arteta
to change things around like this.
But I still stuck with my 2-0 because I thought, do you know what?
I believe in this team and I'm happy with the starting XI.
So I still see us getting a clean sheet and scoring a couple of goals.
Why were we so good today?
Because sometimes we moan about 12:30,
sometimes we moan about 8pm kick-offs.
Today it was...
3 p.m. raining and everyone
in the chairs today seemed like this is a formality.
There's no way we're losing this game.
And that's weird to feel, especially
when Everton are actually a good side.
Yeah, they definitely are.
And I guess coming up against Everton,
you're probably expecting a bit more of a flatter, boring type of game.
Whereas it was the complete opposite.
Maybe it was the midweek game against Bayern that kind of got us.
You know, in a different type of vibe,
you know, ready for today's game,
which I was hoping because I was thinking,
I don't want to see another boring game of football.
You know, prior to the Bayern game, that's how we was playing.
It was just a bit flat, a bit boring.
First half performances are always quite disappointing.
Whereas in the Bayern game, there was so much more excitement.
And I feel like we've brought that same sort of mentality
and energy to today's game.
And it was just, it was so pleasant to watch.
Very good answer.
Despite the rain.
Despite the rain.
We've got to talk about the defenders
because you just mentioned off camera,
like all those defenders are putting in shifts
at the moment for Arsenal.
Defenders scored the goal today.
They kept a clean sheet.
Good thing or concern that they're kind
of just running the whole play for Arsenal?
Listen, it's never a concern when your defenders are scoring goals.
So as I was saying off camera,
we had Calafiori score, we had Timber score,
and then today we've got our two.
Two centre-backs on the score sheet.
Absolutely phenomenal.
And, you know, both from set pieces as well.
So yeah, man, big up to our defenders.
Solid, keeping a clean sheet and scoring goals.
I mean, it's something to take away
and be very happy to be an Arsenal fan.
It's a perfect result, especially with City dropping points.
And that's the people we're kind of,
we're either chasing or we're going to go up against this season.
Obviously, if they get punished, which they deserve to be,
then that might change.
But Arsenal are looking very, very good,
even with the players that are out.
The team that played today didn't seem like,
you know, they missed a beat.
So it kind of goes to the question of how good is this squad?
How good can they be? How good can they get?
Do you know, from the beginning of the season,
I was saying that we've got really good squad depth.
You know, we sit down and we discuss, oh,
who's going to be on the starting 11?
And there's still so many good quality players
who we don't even mention.
You know, Zubimendi being one of them, like not in a rude way,
but I kind of forgot we had him
because we've got so many good midfield options.
Yes, the squad depth is absolutely phenomenal.
So despite us having these injuries,
we've got players who can play in other positions as well.
Myles Lewis-Skelly, prime example.
He could play in the midfield.
He could play at left back.
So our squad depth is good.
But I just hope and pray that we are not hit with too many injuries
because literally today when I saw Gabby go down,
no lie, I was literally about to cry.
I was like, please.
Like Gabby is so crucial for us, you know,
despite having Saka or whoever else.
Gabby, yeah, he's a big player and he has a big presence on that pitch.
So, yeah, there's certain players where you're like,
you know, you can't even afford to get injured.
Gabby's one of them.
Yeah, he went down and ended up coming
back on being the man of the match.
Crazy, crazy.
Scoring a goal.
Exactly.
Let me ask you to close then.
Final question.
Finish the sentence, without Saka, Arsenal are...
Why are you asking me this?
There's, I, it's, it's just.
We've got to ask the question.
Arsenal are amazing, but Bukayo, Saka, we miss you so much
and we're wishing you a well recovery.
There you go, that's the answer.
There you go.
I
don't
know.
