Portions of the hill country west of Austin picked up half
an inch of rain or more earlier today with scattered showers
and thunderstorms still possible later tonight.
Fox 7 Austin's Kerry Burgess was in Fredericksburg earlier today where
the roads were wet and tourists needed their umbrella to stay dry.
It's been raining continuously since 7.15 this morning.
It started off as light showers, now just a moderate rain.
This is Main Street, usually congested with a lot
of street traffic as walkers enjoy shopping
and all kinds of festivals during the month of October into November.
Today, the streets are wet in Fredericksburg
for the first time since October 3rd.
And traffic's still flowing around.
You still have some street shopping going on.
You can see some folks back down there.
They've been carrying umbrellas where they have been walking today.
And more than anything, it's just a wet,
welcome rainfall here for the Texas Hill Country,
which hasn't seen a lot of rainfall here since October 3rd.
That's the last measurable rain we had here in Fredericksburg,
at least in the downtown area.
So the folks that are here, though,
have umbrellas and are taking it nice and easy and in stride.
Temperatures today have been in the 60s, which is really nice.
Today, in the last couple of hours,
it's been sitting anywhere from 65 to 69 degrees.
As rain chances will continue,
there could be some minor flooding across the hill country later on.
Excessive rainfall is most likely to the west of Fredericksburg
and Mason as well as Llano.
But the Hill Country has the best chance of rain coming up tonight
and again through Friday.
In Fredericksburg, I'm meteorologist Kerry Burgess, Fox 7 Austin.
