With control of the Senate up for grabs,
Donald Trump is casting doubt on Alaska's tight race.
If they don't correct this, it would be certainly a dishonest election.
For the President of the United States
who's done more for Alaska than anyone else in the...
Here's the issue. There are two Dan Sullivans on the ballot.
Dan S., the Republican incumbent and Trump supporter, and Dan J.
A retired teacher and independent
from a remote fishing village in southwestern Alaska.
This is a bizarre race,
and we have never seen anything like this before.
The latest twist?
Reports the Democratic campaign was behind the Dan drama.
The New York Times reporting aides to Mary Peltola were instructed
to find as many people named Dan Sullivan in Alaska as you can,
ultimately recruiting Dan Jay.
This has been an amazing campaign.
Her campaign committee denies involvement.
I feel like this is yet another diversion from the issue
that Alaskans want to talk about, which is affordability.
Trump's federal justice department
is escalating a criminal investigation.
And the Republican governor promised
to investigate whether this scheme violated Alaska's laws.
There's no indication the tactic is illegal.
Alaska's Supreme Court.
Already ruled, the independent Dan Sullivan was qualified to run.
As long as they follow procedures,
their motivations for being on the ballot are irrelevant.
And check out the ballot. It clearly identifies the incumbent.
Because of the intense publicity
this whole issue has gotten since June,
I can't imagine that there's any significant number
of voters that are confused.
If Peltola wins and the White House challenges the result,
Brace for a test of American democracy on its northern frontier.
