Volunteers come together in Montréal-Nord to try to find missing 72-year-old woman
Oct 29, 2026
The family of a missing Montreal woman
is doing everything it can to find her.
A picture with her description is even in front of her home.
72-year-old Léone Aneus was last seen on October 24th
and the community here in Montréal-Nord
is doing everything it can to bring her back home.
Inside Léone Aneus' home,
two family members are coordinating volunteers showing up at the door.
And I could go to Fleury.
They are sometimes family, sometimes friends, even strangers.
They're answering phone calls
and distributing signs with Aneus' description.
Neighbours like Marjolaine Perrin say they just can't stand around
with their arms crossed.
She's my immediate neighbour and we've known her for 10 years now.
And, uh...
I think it's important
because I imagine if it was a family member of mine...
Léone Aneus vanished on Saturday.
So on this day, my husband received a call from his dad saying
that she went missing for a couple of hours.
He told him she just went to a family member
that lives very close to the house.
But then she never came back.
And she had started to have some episodes where
she had shown signs of dementia, but no official diagnostic.
But for us, the fact that she left without telling anyone
and like that without coming back for a couple of hours,
it was really the first time.
The support, I think, has given us a lot of strength
in this situation.
Aneus is a black woman about 5 foot 4 inches tall.
At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing
a dark grey long-sleeved sweater and leopard print pants.
The family is expecting more volunteers to show up at their door
as they continue the search in the hope of a happy ending.
