Key initiatives include the historic restart of the Palisades nuclear plant in Michigan and the rollback of Biden-era methane emission rules for oil and gas companies to boost production and save consumers billions of dollars.
Yeah, re-energizing America.
Fox Business is getting an exclusive look at Michigan's
Palisades nuclear plant with Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
Connor Hansen with us now. Spell
it out, Connor. How will the administration lower energy prices?
Hi, Stuart. Well, Secretary Wright tells us
this will lower energy prices for Americans and
specifically here when this Palisades plant behind me reopens
as soon as next month. To put it in the
context, the secretary says
this will put out about 800 megawatts of power once it's up and
running. That affects about 700,000 homes based right here
in western Michigan. Now, this is the
That's the first time the Energy Department
is restarting a nuclear plant that was
Destined to be shuttered completely, it's part of a wave of restarts
and upgrades they're doing across the country.
Now, we did get that exclusive look inside this plant
with the secretary and see what they've been working on.
This plant was set to be completely decommissioned, meaning every piece
of concrete would have to be removed from the ground,
not to mention the nuclear fuel being removed.
It's a lengthy and expensive process.
The energy secretary blames past administrations for...
Shutting down nuclear power
and instead subsidizing sources like wind and solar.
Here he is.
The Trump administration has been all
in on launching the nuclear renaissance.
The Palisades plant here in southwestern Michigan
was shut down four or five years ago,
and it'll be back running before the end of this year.
800 megawatts of additional affordable, reliable, secure energy
to lower costs for Michiganders and increase job opportunities.
This is a reversal of the stuff the Democrats did for years.
They did everything they could to stand
in the way of energy production.
The contrast could not be more stark.
The U.S. government is making billions of dollars
in financing available for these projects.
President Trump signed an executive order directing
the Energy Department to work on these projects
and also calls for construction to start
on 10 new large reactors with complete designs by 2030.
Now, in addition to the added power to the grid,
this plant alone will account for about 650 jobs here.
Stuart?
All right, Colin, thank you.
President Trump announced plans
to roll back Biden-era methane emission rules for oil and
gas companies. White House Deputy Press Secretary
Taylor Rogers joins me now. Taylor, welcome to
the program. Good to see you.
What difference will this make to consumers and the cost that
they have to bear?
Sure. Well, just like we heard Secretary Wright say,
the Biden administration did everything they
could to stifle American energy dominance.
The Biden administration tried to take a one-size-fits-all
approach to shut down many of these marginal wells.
This was stifling production and would
have increased costs for consumers.
And so what President Trump announced earlier this
week was that we were going to be rolling back this proposed rule
so that we can unleash what
What these marginal wells have,
And this will trickle down to the consumer.
It's expected to save the consumer $45 billion
by unleashing 210 million barrels of oil.
This is great news. And it's what the president
promised to do. Look, he promised
to unleash American energy dominance. He promised to
roll back these radical regulations that the Biden administration
and the Democrats put
in place. And by the way, that's what they want
to continue to do. And the president
He wants to continue to do it after the midterms, I'm sure.
