The Greatest NBA Players Who Never Won MVP
Oct 29, 2026
The NBA season is upon us, and with it comes the opportunity
for the league's stars to stake their claim as the best player
in the world and win the Most Valuable Player award.
However, some great players have never managed to win MVP.
Here is a list of players who've never won MVP.
Elgin Baylor, who was named an All-Star 11 times across
his 14-year career, never won MVP despite averaging 35.7 points,
17.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists over three seasons from 1960 to 1963.
Jerry West received an All-Star nod in each
of his 14 seasons in the league and was unable to win MVP,
finishing second four times in the process.
Scottie Pippen was part of the Chicago Bulls team
that won six championships during the 1990s,
but often played second fiddle to five-time MVP Michael Jordan.
Dwayne Wade, a three-time NBA champion and 2006 Finals MVP, never won
a regular season MVP, with his highest finish being third in 2008-09.
Isaiah Thomas was instrumental in the Detroit Pistons winning
back-to-back championships, capturing Finals MVP in 1990,
but never collecting the regular season award.
