Low voltage short. I eventually got there.

Let me come on in so bugs don't come in. Sometimes if I switch it a couple times from heat to cold, like you know how the weather's been changing, it'll just completely shut down. And like now, well, yesterday was 89. 89 degrees in here. Yeah, it happened a few times. all right I'm gonna check it out so folks that's hot damn you see that getting a call my blue wire smokes that was hot do y'all see what kind of cluster I got up here somebody put a three-pole contactor well what is all this 24 volts four volts she says sometimes jiggling with the thermostat or something might affect it so let's go in and check that real quick I have found that if you go in and ask the occupants what's going on they can sometimes point you in the right direction that's a lot how do you keep track of that do they my lift your company don't do that that's my time delay i'm just not sure i don't want to mess something up tell you what i'm gonna do you'll see what i did i disconnected my blue no i'm sorry i'm talking to myself you know if this is a new thermostat no 24 volts how's that the contactor is pulled in 24 volts let's see what i got 24 volts here now and i got 24 volts on blue i got blue disconnected at the thermostat 24 volts here all day 27 volts on blue unused orange 15 volts i got 16 volts to ground that's unused let me do some digging inside i came out here i've got this thing calling outside and there's no call inside i've got a shorted orange and blue wire and i pulled this out of the wall and i've got just i guarantee you most of this was wet this might be where my short is so i cut this out of my thermostat wire and we're fixing to peel these back and start testing them all right i'm going to try to show you now that i've cut this out of my thermostat wire i have call on yellow 24 volts between red and common nothing on my reversing valve heat strips and blue is disconnected so all of that is now correct my short was somewhere in here when i pulled it out it was wet so i think it was not just shorted but wet so i've got to connect these and try to hide them away as best as i can all right I got my wire splice hidden back here this is running in cool and that feels nice and cool instead of hot I'll check pressures on it real quick but that little section of wire is causing some serious problems
