Phoenix Suns Free Agent TARGETS Revealed...
Oct 29, 2026
As the Phoenix Suns still have a lot to unpack with this offseason,
we're going to be diving in, looking at an article,
going over some potential additions that the Phoenix Suns could make
to help bolster out this core of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal,
and Devin Booker to push for that championship
that Matt Ishbia believes that they are on the cusp of winning.
And we're going to be diving in,
looking at some guys that could be key additions for this Suns team.
Will they help out? Will they not? We'll be breaking down all
of that and more on this episode of Suns Digest.

Like I mentioned, we're going to be looking over
the possible moves for this Phoenix Suns team in the offseason.
looking at an article with that is titled way too early targets
for the Phoenix Suns by Brandon
Dunas as I'm sorry if I mispronounced your last name
but the Suns need to find a creative way
to get better this summer if you want to look kind
of look at this tweet from Trevor Booth it
was posted in the article this kind of gives you
a synopsis of how the Suns are going to be able
to deal with this so as we all know Phoenix Suns
are currently 16 million dollars over the salary
second apron which means the following penalties will kick
in they cannot use a trade exception
generated by aggregating the salaries
of multiple players they cannot include cash in a trade and
they cannot use a trade exception generated in a prior year
and the first round pick seven years
are still frozen out the first round pick is moved
to the end of the first round if they remain in
the second apron for three out of the next five seasons
and with Phoenix also being unable to use
that mid-level exception it is going to be very difficult
for this team to be acquiring players
we're starting from a place of having a very good core
of players going into this offseason we have
everything that we need to be able to and the players
at their positions that will make us
better on the Suns 2023 first round pick I'm not thinking about 2031
so Phoenix Suns fans like
we've kind of broken down in a multiple
of these videos here for you guys do not get attached to
those second round picks because it does not like
our first round picks it does not look like they're
going to be staying with us the 2031 first rounder will most likely
be traded at the uh draft or in
this offseason as this team wants to win now
at all costs there's value in having cheap rotation
players on rookie contracts as there are several examples
of those situations around the league
as the draft still matters for contenders despite the popular opinion
however if Phoenix can find
a way to improve the roster at the cost
of dealing another pick they are fine with it the team is set
on to continue with their established core
so who are some players that this team could go after now
in a previous video with CJ
and myself we kind of broke it down looking at some guys we talked
about T.J. McConnell talked about Andre Drummond
talked about some of these guys that could be
possibly acquirable via trade possibly the free agency
and if we want to look and kind of see
what the Phoenix Suns you know kind of have the type
of player they could receive in this scenario
is kind of intriguing they have multiple picks flying under
the radar and why they can't stack
contracts they can send one out in either Jusuf Nurkic
or Nazir Little attached with multiple
picks to sweeten the pot so obviously with the number 22 pick
and the 2031 first round pick
those are both going to be coveted
other teams are desperately going to want those
but having a guy like Nazir Little
still another young project piece on a $6.5 million contract,
could go to a young team, actually get that playing time.
Possibly a team like, you know, Charlotte.
Possibly a team like Brooklyn.
Get that opportunity and, you know,
could blossom into a decent role player or just a quality NBA guy.
Could also, you know, use Nurkic's contract
to move off of and get that rebounding, you know,
big center that they desperately needed
in the playoffs they didn't have to compete against guys
like Naz Reid, Rudy Gobert, Karl-Anthony Towns, they needed
that inside physical presence down low in
the interior and they're desperately going
to go after that this offseason could it be a backup
big like an Andre Drummond
or could it be a guy in a starting caliber center that could help out
with this team moving off a Nurkic's contract we'll see
as we dive in now before we dive in to
the players listed it was listed in the article guys
do you want to check it out LeBron and James
Harden being two of the guys that could go to the Suns,
but I don't think that's going to happen,
especially with the second apron.
The Suns would have to move off of one of their contracts
to acquire one of those guys.
And I do not think that a team like the Lakers or a team,
you know, is going to be able to do that.
But if we want to look, or the Clippers, excuse me,
but if we want to look at the possible guys,
we can see that a lot of them are point guards, bigs, wings,
kind of what we've detailed.
This team needs a lot of depth.
But if we want to look and look at some of the names,
Chris Paul being one of them obviously bringing him back
but he's older and you know would be a
cheaper contract but bringing back
that point guard Westbrook obviously KD Russ reunion on a
vet min Kyle Lowry is one that I do like as well kind
of taking that Eric Gordon role being a great
facilitator great playmaker great center up
for this offense he would be used as a bench role
primarily but could you know be in that starting lineup
to finish out games you could still run
that lineup of, obviously, Booker, Beal, Allen, KD with said center,
and then have Lowry close out the game if Beal
or if Allen isn't hitting
their three-pointers to set up that offense and get it really going.
Obviously, we know Alex Caruso has been one that they've been flirting
with the idea for years with bringing a nice defensive
and playmaker in there.
I think Chicago would definitely look
at the possibility of trading a guy
in Caruso for Nazir Little,
especially with some of those picks attached.
Dennis Schroeder could be a guy that could be a nice, you know,
6th, 7th man to bring in to be a good
quality point guard for this team.
Could even start at the starting point guard with this squad.
Cedi Bay is a nice another wing.
Chris Dunn, Larry Nance, Robert Covington, Patrick Beverly.
But the main ones I want to talk about for this Phoenix Sun team
that I kind of want to gauge from the point guard position are
Kyle Lowry, Alex Caruso, Dennis Schroeder.
Those are the three guys that I think would be solid additions
for this Phoenix Suns team when looking at these games.
Like I mentioned, Kyle Lowry, I think, can set up this offense.
Dennis Schroeder, we've seen him set up the offense with Toronto,
working with, you know, Darko Rajaković
in the beginning half of the season,
second half going to Brooklyn, and all that discombobulated mess
of trying to not make the playoffs and all that stuff.
Didn't succeed as well as he did in Toronto.
But again, paired alongside Bradley Beal,
paired alongside Devin Booker,
he could be, you know, a solid starting caliber guard
if we get the offense going.
Alex Caruso is another one that I really like on the defensive.
side and Chris Dunn also with his defense
and playmaking wouldn't be that bad and ultimately
in my honest opinion all four of these guys would
be guys that I would like for the Suns to go after
I think that Caruso would be the best option
for the Phoenix Suns especially if you can attach that
22nd overall pick with a guy in Nazir Little
who's making around 6.7 million dollars to get a
guy in Alex Caruso that would be huge
for the defensive aspect for this Phoenix Suns team help
them limiting those turnovers helping set up that offense
and again Caruso can be a playmaker
can be a setter up for that offense
but also can play off ball if you want to have a guy like
Booker or Beal or Grayson Allen have that ball
in the hands I think he fits seemingly well with
all these guys and again could
be another key contributor now if we want to look at the big
man position kind of looking at the rebounds there's really only two
or three guys listed
here we got our four guys
so we got Larry Nance, we got Brook Lopez, we got Clint Capela and we
got Mason Plumlee now Mason Plumlee is on the little bit
of older side in my opinion I don't
know necessarily if he is the one that you want
to be looking at Larry Nance was a pretty decent
rebounder alongside this Pelicans team as well pushing
for the play-in but ultimately I think
he's a little undersized I think a guy in Clint Capella
or possibly Brook Lopez would be the
best move now trading for Brook Lopez would
be extremely hard especially trading it to do a deal
with Milwaukee trying to you know deal with all
those similar cap situations and all that
type of stuff i don't know if that's going
to be the best option but a guy in Clint Capela
who this article says is a playable veteran center
that he's into i am also liking that
Clint Capela move i think he could
be a key contributor for this Suns team again
Clint Capela has been a solid center in the NBA
with the Rockets with a top 10 top 15 center then
going to Atlanta you know it's kind of stayed around
the mid aspect but you know gets you 10
points, will get you key rebounds, will help you
out on the blocks, and that's what this Suns team
needs. They need that automatic rebounder.
The guy that they can trust to go up and get
those rebounds. And would the Hawks, a team
who's possibly looking to move
off of Trae Young, possibly looking to move off
Dejounte Murray, wanting to get younger,
having a young big in Onyeka Okongwu,
would they be a team that would be interested
in a possible Yusuf
Nurkic and 2031
pick added to it? I think
so. Why not? If you're the Hawks, you
take a little bit of a flyer on a really
late draft pick which might not work out
for the Phoenix Suns especially if they're going all in
right now most likely they won't have Devin Booker, Bradley Beal
and Kevin Durant in 2031 so it'll be
a fantastic first round pick for you
and then if it does turn out to be a great first round pick
you can have that to build with your team
and your culture or you could use it to potentially
use in another trade package to then help you out
in building your core in Atlanta like i mentioned
this Atlanta team is going to be going through some changes
as well this offseason Trey Young
being in the rumors, Dejounte Murray being
in the rumors, DeAndre Hunter being in the
rumors, Capela being in the rumors,
so I could easily see this Atlanta Hawks team
taking a little bit of a step back and ensuring their future.
Yeah, I could move off Clint Capela for Yusuf Nurkic
and a couple draft capital, would that
help us out in the immediate?
No, but it will help us in the long run for sure,
and I think that is a great move for
both teams, bringing in that rebounder for the Phoenix Suns,
being able to apply that
to help out with, instead of having Nurkic and Eubanks,
I think is absolutely huge,
and especially moving off of Nurkic's contract,
again, will then help out the Suns as well,
as Capela is going to be on a less of a contract in more years.
Now, we want to look at the wing position.
That's another one that we've talked about here.
There's some wings that are mentioned in this list.
We got Sadiq Bay, Robert Covington, P.J. Tucker.
I personally think that Sadiq Bay would
be absolutely fantastic for the Suns team.
but I think that he is going to command more in free agency
than what the Suns are willing to give him.
So Robert Covington, bringing him in as a 3-and-D wing
would be absolutely fantastic as well.
I think he could truly help out.
This Suns team didn't have many wings
besides Kevin Durant, Royce O'Neal.
It was Old Bullish Wainwright,
if you even really want to call those guys wings.
Josh Okogie was a decent wing.
Grayson Allen was a wing, but we need some better 3-and-D wings.
And as the article says, looking internally,
they would like Phoenix to bring back Royce O'Neale and Bull Bull,
possibly let Josh Okogie
walk to a lesser extent. But which names
are you interested in the most above? Who is missing?
Drop your favorite targets down below.
So my honest opinion, Drummond would be a guy
that I would like to go after as a backup center
if they didn't go after Clint Capela, but
bringing in Clint Capella, bringing
in a guy
in Alex Caruso would be
huge for this defense, huge for
the turnovers, and be key additions
to pair alongside guys like Kevin Durant,
Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker. These would
be key guys that would help
winning in this culture and again I think would move
the needle for this team Matt Ishbia thinks
that this team can beat a championship winning
squad squad currently constructed I don't think
so but if you have a roster
of Bradley Beal Kevin Durant Devin Booker Grayson Allen you add Clint
Capela you add Alex Caruso you add Robert Covington
then you have Bobo and Royce O'Neale
that's a decent 10 9 deep at least to where you can make a solid run
and who's not to say that
they don't go after and get some of the other
guys maybe they get a Kyle Lowry as well maybe
they go get a Dennis Schroder possibly bringing
in multiple guards that would help out this team
tremendously get those playmakers set
and get those rebounders set and we are going to be a
okay let me know your guys's thoughts down below
who would you guys like to see the Phoenix Suns
go after in free agency to possibly bring
in do you like any of the ideas that i mentioned let me
