Jackie demonstrates a \"sexy 60s smoky eye\" and a viral Bardot-inspired faux bang updo. The tutorial focuses on a sculpted, retro aesthetic ideal for parties, combining high-coverage makeup techniques with a clever hair-hacking method to achieve a classic vintage look.
it's jackie and welcome back to my channel
for a very requested makeup tutorial.
my viral bardot bang updo is one of my favorite looks
to do and i got a lot of requests asking
how i did the makeup in this tutorial. so this is my take
on a sexy 60s smoky eye. i think the
perfect look for date night
or upcoming holiday parties. this video is sponsored by magic links
and sephora. i love working with sephora
and i wanted to let you know that the sephora savings
event is almost here. if you want to pick up some
of the best in beauty hopefully this video is a
a great guide. I'm obsessed with the products
that I'm showing you today. If you haven't signed up
already to be a Sephora Beauty Insider, it's free.
There's a link down below so that you don't miss
out. First product is part of my Sephora haul.
I saw this in a viral bridal makeup tutorial,
screenshotted it, instantly had to get it.
This is the Dew Instant Angel Moisturizer. I just got a
mini to test it out because I already do have a lot
of skincare favorites. So I will buy a new one
If I use it up, but i've heard great things
I'm gonna skip the forehead just so I don't get greasy on my faux bangs
But that feels really nice. Oh, I think this will make for a good base
I have a couple blemishes, but it's always great
to really hydrate the area so that the foundation smooths over it
I've seen people pronounce this as dew so i'm gonna go with that
But they also have an eye cream
But i'm just gonna stick with my holy grail the Caudalie Premier Cru
because I know this never pills under makeup
it's my everyday eye cream.
I'll quickly apply my Armani Luminous Silk Foundation like I always do.
I do want to look sculpted and snatched. I
also am going to a party tonight and wearing this look
so I want it to still look like skin
and one of my new favorite concealers is the MAC Studio Fix
36 Hour Smooth Angles Concealer.
I like to go neutral and lighter with this one to really
brighten up the face. I don't know if I lack iron
or something or I just haven't got a lot of sleep
in the last two weeks needed
a super high coverage concealer i remember loving the born this way
concealer i got the shade almond it's looking a little bit yellow
but i think that it will look
nice to really brighten up the under eye so i've
let that sit and let's blend in yep definitely
super high coverage the born
this way multi-use sculpting concealer is the most high coverage
concealer i have but it still blends really nice i do have big ones
but i like the minis in my purse
sephora haul i wanted to try lys bliss beauty i thought
this shade looked good for me this is
the no limits cream bronzer
and contour stick in one this is the shade motivate a warm golden
undertone i'm gonna cheat my cheekbones
a little bit higher okay this glides on it's so creamy
wow that looks really nice i love how matte it
is cross between a bronzer and contour shade
another product from sephora that always makes
an appearance the makeup forever artist color
pencil in endless cacao i love this for a quick nose contour
because i can just pencil in i like
to define the bridge a little bit enhance the tip
and i love to start planning out my lip shape here
and blending up this nose contour is super easy
because we haven't powdered yet let's do all the
cream products so that we can set with powder
and i am using a cream blush to warm up the cheek from
the bronzer i'm obsessed with this i've
been raving about it on my stories and in my previous
tutorial i let you guys know
that this is my all-time favorite cream blush that i've tried
it's from a french brand but the way that this blends
in it just melts into the skin and doesn't
pick up texture this is the shade latte praline it's
my perfect everyday shade just for a little
bit of warmth this shade is described as a warm caramel nude
and i think i need to pick up a
couple more shades from this launch a little bit
of MAC Fix+ i'm wearing this until late tonight
So I want to lock it in and for powder.
I'm not big on a ton of setting powder
So I just like to go in with a pressed powder.
This one is from Makeup Forever
It's a little bit brightening and I just pat over
the skin making sure to powder the forehead.
Wow, that made such a difference
It's very smoothing. What a nice matte base for brows.
This is such a standout product
This is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Arch Brow.
You can be your own brow architect for this look
i'm keeping them a little bit thinner
and rounding out the shape but the bangs will cover it but if
you're doing this look without bangs that's like a nice round shape
and usually i feather my brows
closer together and this is my favorite product for it
because you can create like the thinnest
little brow hairs like i've done in these looks just look
at how thin this applicator is and
weirdly enough this doesn't come with the lid
which is kind of great because the amount of
times i lose lids on products like these i finally used up
my whole tube of the Benefit 24-hour
brow set like the packaging is like all worn off
so i'm gonna swap for the Brow Fix by Charlotte
Tilbury, this is a clear brow gel I like it, it doesn't leave
the brows stiff, let's jump into
this smoky eye and then I will finish up
the skin, I know I want to add a bit of a highlight
and whenever I'm doing a look I usually have some sort
of lip mask on, one of my favorites
is by Lawless and it's the Forget
the Filler Lip Plumping Line Smoothing Gloss, this is like the
most hydrating gloss ever, I love the applicator, I find with my eyes
because they're quite round
I like to go in with a neutral base that's
a little bit deeper than my skin tone
this is the shade Stone from MAC, it's
their Multi-Sculpt Matte Liquid Color, I'm applying
all over and smoking out in a V, we'll be rimming
the entire eye with black liner and I want the
inner corner to pop, so this is all around white
from Makeup Forever, again one of these amazing
little pencils blending it into the start
of the shadow you really can't go wrong with the makeup
by Mario Master Mattes Palette, I was traveling, got a little dirty
but I love this palette for
everyday looks and colorful looks too, I feel like you always need
a neutral crease to make a
colorful look work as well
and then we're deepening up the inner portion of the lid and outer V
with the brightest matte shadow, I want my brow bone
to really pop, I feel like this looks a little
retro with the round brows
so I'm leaving it slightly unblended because I want it to pop
underneath the bangs, blue eyes I like
a tiny amount of warmth just underneath the bottom
lash line we'll add black but also blending black straight
into the skin tones kind of tough so i
like just a little bit of a brown for this look it's
my own iteration of a 60s sexy smoky eye
inspired by Bridget not an exact one i have tried
to replicate like exact tones with the wig and
everything so i'll have that one linked
but this is how i like to do it on my eye shape without
trying to make them look like Bridget's
because mine are just very round now for liner again
Makeup Forever wins. I love their aqua pencils.
And I'm moving it back and forth between my lashes
to start to build up the liner.
I also dragged it on the upper lash line, but we're going to
smoke this out so it doesn't have to be perfect.
I find it easier to build up the upper lash line
with a liquid liner. I just got this one from Sephora as well. It's by
Lancôme. Their Idôle Liner Ultra Precise Waterproof Liquid Liner.
Right to the lashes,
little point in the inner corner to make
that cat eye shape more intense we're
building up that line
so it's thicker sisters not twins I love how matte
and black that is but I'm gonna soften it up slightly
with some black shadow
from the Makeup by Mario palette
and this is a great finishing touch taking
that black shadow and attaching it
from bottom to top again for that cat eye
shape on my eyes if you leave
that space open it'll widen the eyes more but I do
want them to look more tapered
and then it really pops against the white now
that we got the liner I want it to deepen up a little bit more so I'm
taking these two shades just mixing them
together really lightly adding to the
outer V I love this eye curl your lashes
and apply your go-to mascara for kind
of a Bardot cat eye it's not really about
the super long lashes but you want
to add that darkness I'm using
the YSL lash latex mascara in one I'm also
adding to my bottom lashes nothing i love more than
an outer corner lash that lifts the eye
these are my favorite from Sephora it's
the Velour lash extension lash clusters maybe i'll do a long
today i'll do one medium and one long
and extend that wing these lashes look so good and i always
like to take a little bit of black liner
and go over the band just to make sure when you're
looking down you don't see them sometimes i won't do that step
and then i regret it when i look back
at my footage make sure to get your money's worth
with these and keep on using them they're so
lightweight it doesn't even feel like i'm wearing lashes at all
but let's wipe this off this first
nude lip combo is more my preference than something accurate
to Bridget's looks hers tended
to be a little bit more peach so we'll show that in a second
because i think MAC Kinda Sexy would
be a little bit more like accurate okay
so this is Kinda Sexy it's the maximal matte lipstick
and then I paired it with pumpkin spice artist color pencil
so this is maybe a little bit more
true to 60s I love this nude lipstick it's called Nude Romance
from Charlotte Tilbury
this packaging is so pretty oh no it has hearts
on it I destroyed the top just now
such a pretty nude this look is almost complete
but I do feel like I want a bit more of a pink
pop to the cheek just to brighten it all up
this is by Charlotte Tilbury once again I love this
Speaking of the savings event, I mean, how pretty is this?
So here we have the pink cheek color,
and then this brightens under the eye,
which might be nice to set to make sure
that my bottom lashes don't transfer.
There are two different shades to choose from,
from the Charlotte's Beauty Soulmates Face Palette.
This one is Pillow Talk Flawless Pink.
This is online only from Sephora.
It's a great Makeup Lovers collectible item.
There's something so nostalgic about it.
Yes, I feel like that was the missing piece.
Let's add some of the airbrush,
like a retro doll.
This is one of my all-time favorite looks.
I've done different versions of it throughout the years.
Again, with another Pillow Talk product,
this is one of my favorite Charlotte Tilbury glosses,
and look at the applicator.
It looks like lips, super hydrating,
and again, just bringing in a little bit more of that pink.
This one does tingle.
Almost out of my beauty light wand,
doing a really small amount to my cheekbone.
I want the look matte overall,
but I just love how this catches the light.
And this is great on the body too.
As for this updo,
I've done different Bardot inspired looks over the years.
And this is my favorite bang hack.
I've already got my hair up in a bun.
I'll cover that part separately,
but start with two pigtails about an inch back,
add a bit of texture spray and tease,
twist the pigtail about halfway down,
cross it over to the opposite side
and pin in an X with two bobby pins
right behind the other elastic into the updo.
Take the loose ends,
pull underneath the laid down twist.
Angle the hair on a diagonal for a curtain bang shape,
adding a bit of movement with a straightener,
and twist and pin any extra length above the twist
straight into the bun.
And same steps on the other side.
Pull the ends under.
This time I looped the extra hair over the twist to hide it,
and this detail was in a lot of Bebe's iconic updos.
As for the bun, it's just a bit of teasing,
creating circular loops and pinning into the bun mold.
I have done so many versions of this look over the years,
but this bang hack is my favorite that I've come up with.
Hope this talk-through was helpful.
So I literally just followed that tutorial
and then I used my T3 Micro straightening iron,
just touched up the front pieces.
And one of the most important parts of this style
is a good hairspray that really locks in the bangs.
This is my holy grail.
It's the Superfine Strong Hairspray by Oribe.
My hair type is quite fine,
so if I want any texture or any body,
I need a good hairspray.
I use it a lot.
It is a pricier item.
This is my third can,
but it's worth it.
This top reminds me of Brigitte Bardot,
and I wanted to share a new fragrance that I picked up
that is perfect for the holiday season.
This is my first ever Jo Malone fragrance.
I bought a candle for my friend once,
but this is Ginger Biscuit Cologne with Tonka Bean.
Just look at this gorgeous bottle.
It's so stunning.
Oh, that's amazing.
To me, it smells like a slightly spicier version
of a ginger cookie.
I love ginger cookie.
I love the aesthetic.
I don't think you could get
a better holiday season fragrance,
so definitely check this out.
Actually, I shared this in my fall tutorial as well,
another like gingerbread product that i picked up
is the Laneige sleeping mask this also has a
gingerbread man as well getting excited
for the holidays i love spicy scents but let me read the
notes so i don't get it wrong
so it's a gourmand a keynote of ginger roasted hazelnut and tonka bean
i hope you liked my take on this sexy 60s inspired
look i love big hair corset style tops a smoky eye
