This is Part 2 of my precompost series for worm composting.

In this video, I check the temperature of my precompost pile:
• 24 hours after setup
• 4 days later

The temperature jumped from 64°F to 91°F in just 24 hours and reached 111°F by day 4.

This heat buildup is exactly why precompost helps worms produce castings faster. Instead of worms struggling to break down raw bedding like cardboard or coco coir, precompost lets microbial activity do the heavy lifting first.

This video is a real-time check-in showing what’s happening inside the pile before it ever goes into a worm bin.

If you’re following along from Part 1, this is where things really start to get interesting.

More parts coming soon as this process continues.

If your goal is faster worm castings and a more efficient system, this series is for you.
