Happy Wednesday, everybody.
Checking the time, 14 minutes after 7 o'clock.
Thanks for stopping by and joining us on Good Day Austin.
Where are you, El Nino?
Last 13 days, no rain since September 1st.
Only three inches.
We're three and a half inches behind schedule.
We have lots of clouds of moisture out there.
You can see the clouds cruising
on by on our high resolution time lapse.
And eventually, some of these clouds could turn
into rain producers later on today.
But our main concern right now,
if you live east of I-35, east of Austin,
You're going to have to navigate through some thick fog in Caldwell,
Bastrop, Fayette, and Lee counties.
Visibilities, especially along Highway 77, under a mile.
So in those locations, make sure you have the low beams
on and watch your speed with the low visibility.
You may have to turn on the windshield wipers a couple
of times just to get the moisture off the glass,
but we're not expecting any rain.
This fog threat over eastern counties will last
for another three hours.
And then after that, we're going to be on the lookout for some showers.
Right now, it's all quiet on our MaxLive radar.
Yesterday, as promised, we had some showers over eastern counties.
They were few and far between
and dropped under a quarter of an inch of rain
in eastern Bastrop County and southern Lee County,
from Bastrop to Giddings.
And already, the showers are getting
an early start down here along the coast.
We have that onshore flow, and that steering flow will get
those showers a little bit closer to us,
but not until mid to late afternoon.
So the time frame is 2 in the afternoon to 5 o'clock.
in the evening very isolated coverage of rain
if we see it from Austin back into the hill country
more scattered about for Lagrange that's what
the blue line indicates here and that's where we're
going to have highest rain chances at 40 percent
from Luling to Bastrop, Giddings and Lagrange
farther west you go the rain chances
are much lower as we take it hour by hour
some scattered clouds out there this morning
with some patchy fog that combination will give way to
tons of sunshine late morning early afternoon
then it starts to cloud up again and some of
of those clouds could turn into rainmakers.
You can see how spotty in nature the showers are going
to be. Not everybody's going to cash in on the rain today.
The rain goes away tonight, but the
clouds rush back in. And then tomorrow,
the rain is going to get an earlier start from sunrise to
noon, primarily from Austin out across the Hill Country,
and then it dries out in the afternoon
and evening hours. In the next 48 hours,
most of the models are showing some rain, and they're
focusing the highest totals out in the Hill Country.
Maybe half an inch to one inch rain.
Again, most of that is going to happen tomorrow.
Underneath that cloud cover, it's a warmer start
to the day. We're in the 60s.
Yeah, no 57 even out across the Hill Country. 63 up in Lampasas,
66 in Blanco, 65 in Giddings with that thick fog.
It's very foggy in La Grange, 67. Mid-60s from San
Marcos into the Austin Metro.
We have lots of clouds, southeasterly wind. We can see things
with our local sky cam so fog is not an issue
in the capital city for now dew points in the mid 60s
still pleasant barely it's going to be more humid over time
as long as we have that southeasterly
component to the wind on the light side today
by the way five to ten miles per hour and it will be
more humid all the way through the weekend less showing up
on the allergy report especially rag
weed it went from high to moderate
so that's good mild moderate low amounts of elm and grass pollen
We did it again yesterday,
eight straight days with highs in the 80s and above average.
We've had 19 days so far this month with highs above average.
Our dog of the day on our podcast, Carl,
he just likes to hang out in the blankets.
Very lovable dog.
And maybe a good morning, get that dog walk in.
If you get Carl out of the blankets this morning,
we're in the 60s and then upper 70s near 80 at lunchtime.
And then we're heading for the low to mid 80s across the board.
Rain chances increasing as we go into part two of the work week.
High pressure that's been putting a lid on things,
keeping us rain-free for the last 13 days, is shifting to the east.
And the southwesterly flow will be a key player in our forecast
as it slingshots this upper low right here into Texas.
And when it crosses over Mexico and ends up in Texas, it will soak up
and bring in all this moisture energy from Tropical Storm Vance
as it gets closer and closer to the Mexican coastline
if this thing was a major hurricane
i'd be more concerned about flooding
but it will do the trick and send in extra fuel moisture in
the mid to high levels of the atmosphere along
with that Gulf moisture moving in from the southeast
and as that low comes across scoops up
that moisture energy it will send all the rain
ingredients into Texas and we'll go
from isolated spotty showers today to scattered Thursday and
Friday and so i don't want to get your hopes up
that this is going to be a huge rain event for us
here in central Texas i think the highest rain totals will
be out in west Texas but nonetheless
have the umbrella on standby hit miss showers
today more scattered about tomorrow morning and
then again Friday afternoon some
of the long-range forecast models now want to keep the shower
chances locked in all the way through Halloween something we have
to pay close attention to but
i'm still going a drying trend going
into the weekend coming up tomorrow slight risk for
localized flooding out west Texas just
a marginal risk coming up on Friday we're not expecting
flooding rains or severe weather around here just
on and off showers, it's a good soaking rain, yeah
they're going to get soaked out there
in west texas we'll be lucky to get a half an inch to
one inch of rain. Both long range forecast models
are promising, showing rain but under an inch
if you don't get enough rain this week
don't worry we have another opportunity
next week as we say hello to November
and we say hello to this low front combo, this is going to be
a powerful storm system moving across
the country could give us some rain and storms on Election Day
and then after that the autumn chill returns, we're going
to have multiple days in the 70s
and multiple nights in the 40s
and 50s, the warm spell continues today with some clearing late
morning early afternoon to warm us up to 84
and then look out for some spotty showers mid to late
day, those showers will go away overnight
but the clouds and humidity will stay with us, a low of 66
not as warm Thursday and Friday
because we're going to experience less sunshine
and more scattered showers, rain chances continue
to drop for your weekend plans and it warms right
back up into the 80s, it's going to be a warm humid start
to November and then we got that
cold front coming to town next Tuesday
