This Proves the Brewers are All In...
Oct 28, 2026
This proves the Brewers are all in.
What a performance from the offense
and from the arms in a 10-1 Game 3 victory
as the crew now sits one win away
from the franchise's first World Series.
Welcome to this episode of Brewers Digest.
I am your host, Taylor Brettel.
I got you covered on everything that you need
to know about these Milwaukee freaking Brewers
that just don't quit and get more exciting game after game after game.
The Brewers, two one-run wins in this series,
and then they go to Tampa Bay.
You'd think this is a chance where
the series could swing in the opposite direction,
and the Brewers only pour it on more.
A 10-1 win, a game where they actually led 10-0 before one run
in the ninth inning.
What an offensive performance, and you have to give credit to the arms.
Only three hits allowed in this one.
Robert Gasser was the one on the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Here is a look at the box score of what we saw in yesterday's contest
as we are just a couple of minutes away from first pitch of Game 4.
Offense, offense, offense.
Freddie Fastball, former Brewer Freddie Peralta,
was on the mound for the Tampa Bay Rays,
who definitely was shaky,
but it was that Rays bullpen that just cannot figure out the Brewers.
The Brewers took advantage.
Eight runs in one inning.
Eight runs in the fifth inning, all with two outs,
actually starting off with a two-strike count
on Bryce Turang with two outs.
That started it all.
We're going to go player by player from this entire starting lineup,
who we saw really contribute to the Milwaukee Brewers,
because I say who we saw really contribute.
It was everyone.
This was a full-team effort.
Leading off for the Milwaukee Brewers was Jackson Churio
in what was a four-hit performance.
He was four for four before getting out in that last at-bat.
Jackson Churio, the young star you are, he just continues to perform.
Eight hits in three World Series games.
four for five he was just lacing singles everywhere it
was awesome uh just to see that happen three of
those four hits going for a single one
of them being a double he drove in a runner as well
Jackson Chourio batting average now 286 you know he had
a little low average in the postseason he has
definitely brought it up
with this World Series stretch after Jackson Chourio was Jake Bowers but
before we get to Jake Bowers there's a fascinating stat
on Jackson Chourio we saw the order get turned
around in an inning in this game,
and this has happened before for Chourio. There are 47 instances
in postseason history of a player having two hits in an inning.
Jackson Chourio is the only player
to do it twice. We saw that in NLDS Game 1
in 2025 against the Chicago Cubs, and then we saw this
game last night, Game 3 of the World Series,
the biggest stage for one of the youngest stars. That
is the exact combination that you want.
We swing this one over to Jake Bowers now, who did not have
the prettiest of games from a stat line 0 for 4
but made some great plays at first base like we
needed it he also scored a run
because he drew a walk to get on base the Brewers NLCS MVP did not
have his best game in the World Series
and this offense still put up 10 runs that doesn't describe
what this team is about how deep this team
is how much they have each other's back i don't know what
does Jake Bowers despite being over
for only struck out once had a lot of things in play a lot
of things in the air just couldn't get the distance on it
but hey the team had his back and he played
a very beautiful first base after Jake Bowers
was the MVP in 2018 himself looking like that MVP form
of Christian Yelich two for three in this one Yelich
also was able to draw a walk he had a run
driven in the first run of the game
for the Milwaukee Brewers was from oh captain my captain
Christian Yelich really exciting to see Yelly come through
in the postseason time and time again
in this 2026 run and you're starting to think
is this man going to get a statue if the Brewers can
really close it out and get the job done
an MVP multiple batting titles multiple silver sluggers
gold glove multiple all-stars
and it could be a World Series ring, this was a franchise altering
move despite his struggling years after
his prime years he is really dialed in so a shout out to
Christian Yelich but what we need
to talk about about Christian Yelich is two for three impressive
absolutely but in that eight run inning Christian Yelich
is the reason that this inning went to
went how it did to get these eight runs
on a ground ball Christian Yelich absolutely hustled
William Contreras hit a ground ball
to the left side that Junior Caminero fielded which
I thought he was going to throw to first base
and Christian Yelich got one of the best jumps of his
career from first going towards second slid in the bag
and was able to touch his foot on the base
they originally called him out they reviewed it said runner
was safe the inning continued while
the score was two to nothing
and then the Brewers just poured it on for there that is what this
Milwaukee Brewers team has been all about you can't give
the Brewers four outs that's how I
view it you basically gave the Brewers four outs
to work with and they took advantage eight runs
with all with two outs if Camarano just made that throw to first
which again Contreras still could
have been safe this is a whole different ball game
but the Brewers saw an opportunity and you knew
they were going to take advantage
but speaking of Contreras what did he do in this game well he did
what he does best and he dominated three for five
for the best catcher in Major League Baseball
Did not need the long ball in this one
that we've seen him do multiple times this postseason.
He drove in a run.
He also scored a run, and he only struck out once.
Just some nice singles we saw from Contreras,
three of them to be exact.
He's batting .419, his on-base plus slugging percentage way over 1,000.
He is just dominating.
He's had many ABS challenges go his way.
He's absolutely locked in in that department as well,
which was not true in the regular season.
This has been one of the most dialed-in postseason
performances I have seen from a player ever,
And Contreras has been great before the playoffs.
It's not like this is a lower-level name
that has exploded in the playoffs.
It's one of the best or the best catcher in baseball
finding a way to get even better than being at the top.
That is the story of Contreras.
But we talk about Contreras, and we talk about Jackson Chourio,
two of the stars from the Milwaukee Brewers.
Check this out from OptaStats.
It says Jackson Chourio and William Contreras
are the first pair of teammates
to have two-plus hits in three straight World Series games
while their team wins each one of those games.
The only players to do so in four straight games,
which hopefully we see tonight, all being wins in one World Series,
are Johnny Bench, Lou Gehrig, and Babe Ruth.
How about that company? Hall of Fame, Hall of Fame,
and Hall of Fame, possibly best player of all time right there,
you got at the end of the list.
That is the company that you want to be a part of,
and that's the company that Wild Bill and Jackson Chourio are a part of.
Following Wild Bill in this lineup,
we saw Bryce Turang get in on the action. He had three hits of his own.
He started that spark after Christian Yelich hustled to second.
It brought up Terang, and he was able
to lace a two-run single off the glove
of the shortstop of the Tampa Bay Rays to give the Brewers a four,
give them four runs on the game before they exploded
for that eight-run inning.
Bryce Terang, two runs driven in on that one swing.
He also went around and scored himself.
He also had a double.
A beautiful game from Bryce Terang.
He had so many great plays in this one
as well, including the final out.
A nice scoop, a nice throw to Jake Bauers to solidify the 10-1 win.
following Bryce Turang who do the Brewers have
well they had Garrett Mitchell who has had a solid
postseason of his own Garrett Mitchell was able
to get a hit as well that drove in a run he did
strike out twice but again he walked as well
so a .500 on base percentage in this game and driving
in a run just everyone continues to trip
to contribute for these Milwaukee Brewers a little
bit of a tongue twister there
but you can't get it twisted that Cooper Pratt also had a big impact
on this game we've seen Cooper Pratt be all the way up here
and be all the way down here in some
of these postseason games this one one for five
but that one swing really big drove in two runners
in this game and he was very good at the plate did strike out twice
but when you needed it the most
Cooper Pratt came through he shot one down that third baseline
when the Brewers are rallying to
get that lead even more comfortable
and he played very well at shortstop following what we've seen
a couple errors during the postseason another guy
that played super well which I can say for
literally every Milwaukee Brewer
in this game Sal Frelick one for four at the plate but hey
He hit a lot into play.
He did not strike out once.
He hit a lot in that left field side.
Finally, one of them was able to drop for a double,
which also brought a runner home.
Sal Frelick with a .269 batting average during the series as well.
He has been a dominant force.
And Sal Frelick in the field,
this isn't going to come up in the box score.
In a 10-0 game, Sal Frelick dove
and laid out on his injured shoulder that will probably
need surgery to make a diving catch.
That is the effort that this team has.
That is how much this team wants it.
They are hungry.
They don't get tired.
They are not comfortable with any lead.
They take every game like it's a game seven.
You know, Pat Murphy has just put that
in these players' brains
and they're all giving it to each other.
This team is absolutely special.
And then the last guy to round out the order
for the Milwaukee Brewers was David Hamilton.
He went one for three in this one.
We saw him also get a single that drove in a run
on a fastball above the zone.
Just able to get it in play straight up the middle.
Really nice to see.
Also had a liner towards third.
Junior Caminero made a great catch.
But again, some nice at-bats from Hamilton.
He did not strike out in this game as well.
So lots and lots and lots of great at-bats.
We can be talking about the at-bats,
but we have to also talk about the pitching for the
Milwaukee Brewers.
And I'm going to start off by saying not just the pitching,
the pitcher, Robert Bobby Diesel
Gasser.
My gosh, game of your life.
Even if you have an MLB career that goes 15 more years,
this might be the biggest, best
game you play of your life.
Bobby Diesel, six innings of work,
and don't get me wrong, giving him cushion help, but
That cushion wasn't really there to the fifth inning,
six innings of baseball, three strikeouts,
zero earned runs, only allowed one hit and one walk,
75 pitches, 50 of them going for
strikes.
His postseason ERA is a .6.
Are you kidding me?
It was a one entering this game.
You're looking at it saying it's going
to be really hard to beat that, and he found
a way to do it.
This six innings of one hit baseball, no runs,
all of these little stats put him in some
insane company.
Check this out. That was found from OptaStats.
It says Robert Gasser of the Brewers is the second
pitcher in World Series history to finish a start of six
or more innings and have faced the minimum
number of batters.
Literally the only other example is Don Larson in 1956 when this guy
threw a perfect game. We're putting
these two guys right next to each other in World Series
company. I believe in Robert Gasser. I knew he'd deal.
I don't think anyone could predict he would
deal to this level because this is almost impossible
when you think of how many World
Series games there have been in the history
of Major League Baseball, and this has only
happened twice, one of them being last night.
What an outing for Robert Gasser, just incredible,
and with Gasser able to have an outing like
that, he puts him and another Brewers teammate
in some exciting company as well.
I'll pull this up on the right side
for you guys from Just Baseball Media.
It says, since 1990, only four pitchers have achieved
the following in a postseason run,
15 or more innings, one or lower in ERA and seven
or fewer hits, two of these four are Milwaukee
Brewers in 2026 you guys have
a guess I'll give you five seconds it should hopefully be easy if
you've been paying any sort of attention
because uh well yeah outside of Robert Gasser it is Aaron
Ashby of course look at that both just the low one
of the lowest ERAs you can get for Gasser and
the lowest ERA you can get for Aaron Ashby both over 15 innings
and look at that company
Pedro Martinez, Mariano Rivera, Hall of Fame,
high-tier Hall of Fame company,
two Milwaukee Brewers sitting right alongside them.
This has been a postseason run for the ages.
It'd be so awesome if the Brewers can get the job done tonight,
but we've got to give credit to this whole roster.
Speaking offensively as well, every Brewer that could have played
that's on the roster played, and you also go to the bullpen.
We saw some faces that we hadn't really seen in this postseason.
Senzatella we saw once in the DS.
He provided two huge innings.
I don't care if the lead's 10-0.
thing we've seen games slip away from teams
in crazy ways no game is over until the final out
is made we got two innings from Senzatella he threw 20 strikes
on 26 pitches struck out one
batter a lot of things were in play but for soft contact
and easy outs and then to close the game
on which got a lot of people on their feet Brandon Woodruff one inning
of baseball he did give up a
run on a full count two out pitch Yandy Diaz
was able to hit one into the outfield but hey
seeing Brandon Woodruff back out there
for the first time since the fourth of july and he's able
to close a game I know you don't get the save
but you're closing the game for the Milwaukee Brewers
to sit one win away from the World Series I don't think
that you can complain about that at all it
was really exciting really awesome to see
that for Brandon Woodruff but I got a little I got a
little something to share you might notice you know
this is a little bit on the later end of a
video not automatically after the game but it's
because I did something you know when the Brewers
do something historic and they put themselves
in a good position you might have to possibly attend
We made a last-minute trip to go to the World Series,
and I cannot emphasize enough how much that paid off.
Back home now, hoping to watch Game 4
and solidify it at home with the family,
but got some pretty cool photos that I took right here.
This is, you know, shot on iPhone, nothing professional.
This is after the game when they had the desk, you know, post-game era.
Dave Ortiz, Ken Rosenthal, Derek Jeter.
There is the slew of Brewers fans.
That's only in the lower section.
It was also true for the upper section.
we were up in the three hundreds
and just absolutely surrounded. I turned around and
I couldn't tell you if I saw a single Rays fan behind where I
was in that stadium, a couple in
front. I couldn't tell you if there's any behind me.
And then to the side, I mean, it was unbelievable.
I expected like 30, 40%.
My, my, my hope in my head was a 50, 50 split. And then being there
and seeing that that actually happened was unreal.
Another photo down here, you know,
getting a little bit closer to the field after
that post game, I'll pull this up on the big
screen where you can see the the guys
at the desk just everyone crowding it chanting let's go
brewers this is a once in a lifetime thing hoping
that this is a little more consistent in the
future with how good the the brewers farm system looks
but just some neat photos also exiting the
stadium you go into the concourse
and yeah it was an absolute party this was following when Fox was
done with their post game and then all the fans
were truly flooding out of the stadium i mean
just an incredible atmosphere it felt like
a Brewers home game if you were watching on TV or
maybe you guys were there you could hear how loud it
was when things went well for the Brewers how
loud those cheers were or when Cooper Pratt
was up those were all Coops those weren't really
boos but we have one more game the Brewers have
to win to really close this thing out and put
themselves in World Series talks
not even World Series talks World Series champion talks gotta
take it one game at a time as we always say
so let's take a look at Game Four what is the matchup
what do we got to look at for this one well
the matchup you got the pitching matchup of Griffin
Jax and Dustin May not a surprise that Dustin May
is starting this one if Brandon Woodruff
didn't come in in that ninth inning yesterday it might have
been Woodruff to get the start for like
an inning now that it's Dustin May wondering
if he'll just go through the order once don't really
know how it's going to be used
but the positivity of this Robert Dassler pitched so well that you
only had to use Sensatella
and then Woodruff the whole bullpen is going to be there everyone is
going to be ready the top arms
the death pen whatever you want to call them McGill Ashby
Uribe, that one two three punch, throw in a Romero throw
in a DL Hall, they're all going to be there
so if things go sideways for Dustin May
which I obviously hope they don't, that death pen as people
like to call it is going to be there, we saw
that in game four of the NLCS, four nothing deficit for
the Brewers after Dustin May was in there
but the bullpen had his back, they're saying you know what
we're not going to give up a single thing after
that home run from Otani and we know our offense
has our back, that's what this team has done all
year long, let's take a look at the lineup who do
Brewers got going out in possibly the last game of the 2026 season
which would be so awesome to
end it off on a sweep from top to bottom
this looks pretty familiar because if it ain't broke
don't fix it, Jackson Chirinos, Jake Bauers, Christian
Yelich, William Contreras, Bryce Turang, Sal
Frelick bumped up a tad there, Cooper Pratt, Garrett Mitchell
and David Hamilton, pretty similar lineup
as we have seen all series long, but man the job is not done
and the Brewers know that there is
one game to go till you can say your Milwaukee Brewers
are 2026 World Series champions, not
speaking anything into existence, we have seen
the 2004 ALCS, we know Big Papi, Derek Jeter
and A-Rod are going to be talking about that pre-game
so let's not uh match that at all, let's just get
this comfortable 4-0 sweep
and I hope to be talking to you guys with an even bigger smile
on my face and one ring in the city of Milwaukee should
be very very exciting go Brewers cheer
loud wherever you are if you're
at Tropicana Field hopefully it feels like even more of a home game
I've been seeing that the ticket sales from where they've been bought
and some plane rides there
are filled with a lot of blue
and yellow in that Brewers merch repping the old school or old school
you know earlier earlier decade uh Milwaukee Brewers go
a little 10-15 years back those were
some fun teams but this this is not just for the city
of Milwaukee I mean it's for the state of
Wisconsin it's for so many people seen so many fans
so many family members of the players they
flew five planes out to Tampa Bay hoping that the job gets done tonight
and we could be talking in
next video celebrating a World Series
for the Milwaukee Brewers we got to get the job done
27 more outs to a 4-0 sweep let's focus
on that let's get the win go Brew Crew hoping to talk
to you guys tomorrow or maybe even later tonight about
the Brewers winning the World Series let's
Get the job done.
