The Candle of Hope in London- A True Story

45 Video Views·Oct 27, 2026

In the heart of London, at Portland Place, a candle was first lit in 2002.

Through the years, even on bitterly cold winter nights, ordinary people have taken turns sitting beside it.

They do not know how long this journey will last. But they refuse to remain silent about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

A candle cannot dispel all darkness. Yet its light reminds us of perseverance, conscience, and the power of peaceful action.

Truthfulness – Compassion – Forbearance.

One candle. One street corner. Ordinary people.

A reminder that still echoes through London:

“As long as conscience remains, hope remains.”

THE LIGHT THAT NEVER GOES OUT

When the city falls into the night,
one little light remains awake.
The wind passes by…
the rain falls down…
yet the flame still softly glows.

There are those who, through the passing years,
quietly stand along the crowded streets.
They never ask the world to know their names,
they only hope to keep one gentle light.

Day after day, their hands stay warm,
through rain and sunlight, wind and storm.
Sometimes no one even sees them there,
yet still they hold to what they know is right.

Deep within their hearts,
there lives a quiet, steadfast faith…
Like a seed beneath the earth,
waiting for the sunlight to bring it into bloom.

Hold on to Truth when the road winds on,
hold on to Compassion through the pain,
hold on to Forbearance through the changing seasons,
so the light within our hearts will never fade.

Through the bright days,
through the long and rainy nights,
through the springtime,
through the winter returning…

They keep a little light burning,
so that someone, somewhere,
may find their way.

Then spring passes quietly by,
flowers bloom and drift upon the breeze.
Summer brings a golden sky,
while the little light shines faithfully.

Then autumn leaves come tumbling down,
and winter lays its snow across the town.
Four seasons quietly follow one another,
yet the flame remains… unchanged.

There are days beneath a crystal sky,
and there are nights beneath the clouds.
But light was never meant to shine
only on the fairest days.

Hold on to Truth when lies surround the heart,
hold on to Compassion when hearts grow cold,
hold on to Forbearance through the rain and sunshine,
so the light may shine tomorrow.

Though sometimes
their hands grow tired,
though the road
may still be far away…

They keep walking,
they pass the flame along,
because they believe
the light will travel far.

Some step away, and others come,
the light keeps shining, one by one.
Some have never met each other,
yet they guard the same flame, one after another.

The years flow by like a river,
the world moves on, the seasons turn.
Day and night continue their journey,
but the light they keep still burns.

It is not because they never feel sorrow…
It is not because they have never known pain…
It is simply that they choose
not to let the darkness
take the light away from within.

A keeper of light…
does more than guard a flame.
They keep a quiet faith
for those
they may never meet.

Hold on to Truth…
hold on to Compassion…
hold on to Forbearance…
through all the passing years.

From the first light of dawn
until the city falls asleep,
from the springtime
until winter passes by…

A little light
within this endless world,
a gentle hand
still sheltering its flame.

Though tomorrow
another hand may tend the light,
though the years
may carry us far away…

One gives,
another receives,
and someone else
will light it once again.

Spring arrives…
Summer follows…
Autumn comes…
Winter falls…

Day passes…
Night descends…
The years…
drift away…

But the light is still here.

Truth…
Compassion…
Forbearance…

One little light…
one quiet faith…

From one heart
to another heart…

The light will live forever.
The light…
will never go out.
