UCF Defender Gwendel Degorce on Knights' Ranked Win & Sun Belt Title Hopes

All right, Gwendolyn, congratulations on the win. South Carolina mounted a bit of a rally attempt late. Just what were you seeing from them in that late going? What were you seeing from South Carolina in that late going as they were making that rally? Yeah, I mean, we knew they were a very good crossing team. A lot of good crosses and obviously lots of momentum towards the end when they started scoring. So it was a hard end of the game, but I think we managed it well and we were confident with where we were going. What do you think went right in this game? I think a lot of things went right. You know, we're at home, and that means a lot to us. It was alumni night, and everyone was hyped up for this game. We knew how important it was for the conference, for RPI, and I think we've been playing better and better every week as the games go on, so I think a lot of things went right. How does it feel bouncing back from that weekday loss in Morgantown, Virginia, and now coming in with a ranked win? I think it's important. It's a huge win. It was a hard loss in Morgantown, and we knew we had to bounce back, obviously. We knew what it took and the efforts that we had to put in. There was a lot of fatigue as well because we just played and there was the traveling, But we worked hard at training, and the coaches gave us the right tools. What is the difference in how this team is playing now versus the beginning of the season? I think just like every season, we have a lot of new players, and we need a bit of time sometimes to get to know each other and to know our strengths and weaknesses. And we've gotten better together and gotten better at playing together. So I think that's just been going very well recently. Two matches left before the Sunbelt Tournament. What do you want to see from this squad before you head out to that tournament? I think that the same things we've been seeing these past few weeks, you know, a lot of will to fight because it means something to us. It means a lot more. And we want to really accomplish something. Obviously, we got that status going in the tournament because of last year's championship.
